NEVER REACH into front discharge door while mixer is running or connected to a power source. 19. SAFETY DECALS-LABELS: Replace missing or damaged safety decals/labels. 20. Make sure bungee cord on screened lid and wire lanyard attached to discharge door are in good condition. T.R.A.C.K. – Kushlan M150 Mixer 6 Kushlan Products, Inc All rights reserved 2/9/2005 Prevention • • • • • • • • • • • Read all instructions and safety precautions before operating equipment Follow all appropriate local, state, and national codes governing building and remodeling. Use only manufacturer authorized parts. User assumes all risks and liabilities when using parts that do not meet the minimum specifications and safety of original manufacture. Lubricate the wheel bearing fittings on each wheel before each use. Check oil level in gear box twice a year Replace oil in gear box once a year, use 140 gear lube oil. Check all screws, bolts, and nuts for tightness before each use, especially those securing guards and drive mechanisms. Always close lid and discharge door before starting mixer. Always start the mixer before loading. Never yank on the electrical cord to disconnect it. Always disconnect cord from outlet before working on mixer. Electrical Cord Grounding Instructions The motor on the Kushlan Mixer is equipped with a cord, which has a grounding wire. The connecting extension cord between the motor and an appropriate grounding plug must have a grounding wire. Risk of electric shock is reduced by using an outdoor all weather extension cord, which will provide an escape path for electric current in case of an electrical short circuit. The power source outlet must have a properly installed and grounded circuit, in accordance with all local city, county, and state codes and ordinances. Use the extension cord provided by the rental store. The cord must be no longer than 50 ft. The extension cord must be 14 gauge or large. Using a longer extension cord or smaller gauge extension cord will cause damage to the mixer motor. Inform the rental store if repair or replacement of the cord is necessary. T.R.A.C.K. – Kushlan M150 Mixer 7 Kushlan Products, Inc All rights reserved 2/9/2005 Service Recommendation – Before each use 1. Check mixer’s electrical plug and cord for loose or burnt terminals 2. Plug mixer into grounded test outlet and start motor and shut it off. 3. Thoroughly spray and rinse/wash out mixer, and tilt mixer forward to drain out excess water. 4. Clean the entire mixer. 5. On main Hex shaft inside drum, take off mixer paddle assembly and wipe a small amount of grease on top of hex shaft around top of bearing to prevent rust. 6. If excessive noise is noticed, 6” pulley might be loose. Align pulley and retighten pulley and guard. For more information check the troubleshooting guide 7. Check for loose v-belt. If belt is loose, adjust motor angle by loosening the bolts that attach the motor to the frame Insert pry bar between motor and gear box, and apply sight pressure by pushing down on bar to move motor farther from gear box. Tighten bolts and then attach motor to frame. 8. Check for worn belt and worn pulley on the motor. 9. Check 5/8” locking collars on the tires. 10. Check blade assembly inside drum. Make sure hex shaft is engaged to blades by moving blade assembly back and forth, if it is engaged it will not move by hand. If assembly moves then move assembly back and forth until it drops into place. 11. Check all screws for tightness, especially those securing guards and drive mechanisms. 12. Lubricate the wheel bearing fittings on each wheel before each use. 13. Check that all safety and warning decals are in place and in good condition. Replace missing or damaged decals. Part Replacement Suggestions: After replacing any mixer part, and on new mixers, let the mixer run unloaded for about 10 minutes. After 10 hours tighten the v-belt. When you replace the v-belt, also replace the pulleys. When you replace the 6” pulley also replace the v-belt. After 50 rentals replace the pulleys and v-belt. If the mixer shows signs of slowing down, replace the v-belt and pulleys. T.R.A.C.K. – Kushlan M150 Mixer 8 Kushlan Products, Inc All rights reserved 2/9/2005 Clean Up Thoroughly clean inside and outside of mortar mixer. Spray and rinse/wash out mixer. Tilt mixer forward to drain out excess water. Compressed air may be used to dry the mixer. WARNING: DO NOT spray water on or into the motor. Make sure mixer is dry then thoroughly spray the inside and outside of the drum with Kushlan Products’ Equipment Release Agent, “Keep it Clean” When “Keep it Clean” is sprayed on the Kushlan mixer or the Kushlan Kurb strips and allowed to dry the chemical concentrates on the item and has a waxy appearance. When mortar or concrete is poured against the treated surface, concrete and mortar reacts chemically with the release agent to form a temporary soapy film which prevents sticking and provides a clean release and easy clean up of the Kushlan mixer and Kushlan Kurb strips. “Keep it Clean” is environmentally friendly and water soluble. T.R.A.C.K. – Kushlan M150 Mixer 9 Kushlan Products, Inc All rights reserved 2/9/2005 TROUBLE SHOOTING TIPS – M150 Mortar mixer It is important that you understand troubleshooting procedures for the Kushlan Mixer. In this section, you will learn what steps to take to solve any mechanical difficulties Problem: Possible Cause: Solution: Mixer will not start No Power Check the power supply and your connections. Motor will not start On / Off Switch Rocker switch needs to be in the down position. Defective switch / bad connection. Return the tool to the Rental Center for inspection and replacement Breaker Press reset button on side of motor. V-Belt could be loose To adjust belt tension: Adjust motor angle by loosening the bolts that attach the motor to the frame. Insert pry bar between motor and gear box, and apply light pressure by pushing down on bar to move motor farther from gear box. When belt is tight then retighten bolts that attach motor to frame. Pulley worn out Replace pulley Inside the drum the Hex shaft on mixing arm is not engaged Be certain hex shaft is engaged to blades by moving blade assembly back and forth. If it is engaged it will not move by hand. If assembly moves then move assembly back and forth until it drops into place Bad motor Return the mixer to the Rental Center for inspection and motor replacement. Tool or foreign object could be lodged inside mixer assembly drum Disconnect the electrical power source from mixer and remove tool or foreign object. If needed remove blade assembly arms to locate foreign object. Foreign object jammed in pulley Disconnect the electrical poser source from mixer and remove foreign object.
