Anhalt University’s library has branch libraries at each of the three campuses in Köthen, Bernburg and Dessau.
Your student ID card allows you to borrow books and magazines from the branch libraries. Registration and use
are free of charge to students of Anhalt University. Items are usually issued for a lending period of 4 weeks. They
may be renewed up to seven times. Items issued to other users may be reserved. Items in the reference collection
(classed as ‘nicht ausleihbar’) may be taken out over the weekend.
Items not in stock at Anhalt University library may be ordered from other libraries (national and international) which
are part of the inter-library loan network as inter-library loans (Fernleihe). With this service, books and photocopies
of journal papers may be ordered.
Your personal online user account allows you to check the details of items on loan to you and the lending times/
due dates. You may also renew your items via the user account. Your user account may be accessed via the online
catalogue of the university library, the ‘OPAC HSB’. Once you have accessed OPAC HSB, you need to click on
‘borrower information’ to access your personal user account.
Your library ID number is printed on your student ID card. The first three letters of your surname make up your
initial password for logging onto your user account.

All staff and students of Anhalt University are invited to join courses
offered by uni sports.
Courses are also open to students
of other universities. For a
majority of courses registration is
mandatory. There is also in many
cases a limit as to the number of
participants per course.
Should you be interested, please
contact staff at the sports office
and get a semester ticket.
You need to produce your valid student ID card and 1 passport-sized
photo for the semester ticket.
A semester contribution for using
sports facilities needs to be paid
in cash.
All guests need to register in
person on site. It is up to uni-sport
staff and the individual coaches for
the groups in question to decide on
participation and admission.
Insurance (Versicherung)
All students and staff of Anhalt University are covered by an accident
insurance (Unfallversicherung, provider: Unfallkasse Sachsen-Anhalt) if
the following applies:
Sports activities in Köthen
1) Courses and events have to be
part of the official program offered by
Anhalt University’s Hochschulsport.
2) Courses/events need to have a
coach which has been officially appointed for this task by uni-sport staff.
If the aforementioned conditions do
not apply, then there is no insurance
cover. Guests are generally not
covered through this insurance
scheme.
All participants are advised to take
out a private liability insurance (Privathaftpflicht) to cover them should
third parties be injured during official
courses/events offered by Anhalt
University’s Hochschulsport.
Accidents
Uni-sports staff need to be informed
about any accidents which occurred
during courses within 3 days after
the accident. Please contact staff
at the uni-sport office and fill in the
form required. The injured party is
solely responsible for reporting such
accidents.

replaced at a cost of € 20.00.
Your student ID card holds your
personal data and also shows its
validity for the current term. The
additional ‘S’ stamped above the
current term indicates that you
have paid the Student Union fee
of € 6.00. Your ID cards allows
you to do the following:
• It is general proof of your student
status.
• You need to produce your student
ID card during exams to invigilators/lecturers.
• It is also your library card at the
university library.
• It is also a money card for paying
at the dining hall (Mensa). The
machines in the Mensa foyer
allow you to top-up the amount
available to you.

HIS-QIS is Anhalt University’s Internet student service portal. HIS-QIS
allows you to manage your entire studies and is full of useful information.
With HIS-QIS you can do the following:
• You have access to all timetables for classes and exams.
• You can register for and deregister from exams (which is obligatory for
most degree programs).
• You can download all forms needed at Anhalt University.
• You can change your contact details online, have access to your grades
and marks and can print transcripts of record (Leistungsnachweise) and
registration confirmations (Studienbescheinigungen).
• You can apply online for degree programms at Anhalt University
Login
You find your personal HIS-QIS login details on the first registration sheet
handed/sent to your after having registered at Anhalt University. You may
change your initial HIS-QIS password any time.

Re-registration (Rückmeldung)
At the end of each semester you need to re-register for the following
semester, should you wish to continue your studies at Anhalt University.
There is a deadline within which this needs to be done by you (current
deadlines available on HIS-QIS portal). For re-registration, you need to
pay in the semester contribution (Semesterbeitrag) of € 66.00 by the deadline. After you have paid in the money, you will be able to print of a confirmation (Studienbescheinigung). Re-registration is valid when your money
has been credited to Anhalt University's bank account. See re-registration
deadlines further down. Long-term students, who have exceeded a fixed
number of semesters (Langzeitstudierende), need to pay an additional fee
of € 500.00 per semester on top of the semester contribution.
When transferring money you need to state your student ID number
(Matrikelnummer) in the reference section (Verwendungszweck). Please
left-align this number and do not include any spaces. Only by including
your student ID number in the way described can your semester contribution be matched with your student account and thus your re-registration
processed.
There is an additional period for re-registrations following the re-registration period. Please note that we charge an additional fee of € 15.00 on top
of the semester contribution should you re-register within this period.
The HIS-QIS portal allows you to check whether your transfer was
successful. Confirmation of re-registration (Studienbescheinigung) can be
downloaded and printed about one week after successful re-registration
(HIS-QIS) or collected at the Students Office (Studierendensekretariat).
You may then use the machines provided to re-validate your student ID
cards for the following term.

University life and studies come with numerous challenges. Apart from
changes and success, there are issues such as coping with the demands

Köthen Campus, though not all
of them offer Internet access.
Opening hours of the IT pools are
published at the start of semester
via the timetables for rooms and
lecture halls. Students may use the
IT pools during classes and also
outside classes.
Please note the following:
• You need to follow the house
rules for the IT pools.
• It is not permitted to make
changes to hardware or software
components on pool computers.
• Only departmental system administrators are entitled to install/
un-install applications etc.
• Please contact departmental
system administrators in case of
system faults or breakdowns.
• Data is only saved on IT pool
computers you are logged on.
