Ötzi25 Slackline
Saturday, 17 September 2016
Sunday, 18 September 2016
Music festival with South Tyrolean songwriters and bands
Dominik Plangger, Mainfelt & Loud, from 7 pm in the
main marquee in Madonna di Senales.
Slackline World Record Attempt at the Schnalstal Glacier
at 3,212 m at 10 a.m. & across the Vernagt lake at 12 a.m.
Voluntary donations will go to the mountain rescue in
Schnalstal.
Slackline Festival & Workshop for children and adults
at the Vernagt lake. Delicacies from local artisans in the
Schnalstal Valley. The Schnalser Goaslschneller (Schnalstal Valley whip crackers) will demonstrate this age-old tradition.
Slackliner Alexander Schulz: “I’ve always been fascinated by the mountains, and hiking, climbing, skiing and kayaking were my main sporting
passions until I came into contact with a slackline for the first time in 2008
and a new world opened up to me, in terms of sport and also mentally.
In a short space of time I found myself pushing the boundaries of slacklining. Because high lining is a team sport and my complex slackline projects
could only be carried out in a group, I have the support of my team, Once
Inch Dreams. In the Schnalstal Valley, I want to break another world record
together with my team and walk the longest slackline over water”.
Ötzi’s Anniversary
25 years ago, on 19 September 1991, Ötzi the mummy was
discovered in the Schnalstal Valley.
September is, therefore, all about Ötzi, the Iceman. The 19th
September 2016 marks the 25th anniversary of the discovery of what must be the most famous mummy in the world
by Erika and Helmut Simon on the Tisenjoch pass.
