Day 01: ARRIVAL IN PONTIANAK (D)
Meet and greet at the airport arrival hall and transfer to your accommodation. Free
at your own leisure.
In the afternoon, Explore the riverbank area of Pontianak using a wooden boat to
observe the daily life of the local people or go for a sightseeing trip to Pontianak
harbor, Beting Permai water village, and the huge Kapuas Bridge.
Day 02: PONTIANAK – SINTANG (B,L,D)
Breakfast will be at your accommodation. After breakfast, we will leave for Sintang
by public land transportation. This journey will take an approximately 8 hours. Free
at your own leisure.
Lunch will be served at a local restaurant en route, dinner and overnight on hotel.
Day 03: SINTANG – PUTUSSIBAU (B,L,D)
Proceed to Putussibau by public land transportation for about 8 hours passing the beautiful view of Mount Kelam on the roadside.
Upon arrival at Putussibau, transfer to your hotel for overnight. Free at your own leisure.
Day 04: PUTUSSIBAU – BONGAN RIVER (B,L,D)
Proceed to the headwater of the Kapuas River to reach Bongan River by long boat with all necessary supplies. The boat is about 1
½ - 2 meters wide and 6-8 meters long occupies for 4-5 passengers with no roof, so it will be hot and noisy. On the way, we may stop
at the Dayak village to see the longhouse. In certain places we have to go down to the river to pull and push the boat as the level of
the water in the dry season is too shallow. Here you will experience how the boatman and what we call "the Stone Man" knows
exactly where the rock is and how to get away from the rapids. If the rapid is too extreme, we have to walk along the rock or villager
farmlands at the riverside and the boat will pick us up in certain place. It's tough here.
Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on bivouac/tent.
Day 05: BONGAN RIVER – TANJUNG LOKANG (B,L,D)
After breakfast, we will continue our journey that is more challenging. We will go down, pull and push the boat, walk on the rock or
villager farmlands at riverside while the boat passes the rapids, all of these can give you an unforgettable experience. On the way,
you will see the tropical rainforest of Kalimantan, villager farmlands, hills, and temporary huts till you reach Tanjung Lokang. It is a
remote village, inhabited by Punan Bongan Dayak people, located on the area of Betung Kerihun National Park. If you are a
handicraft collector you may find some rattan basket weaving, traditional Dayak machete, blow pipe gun, palm leaves rounded hat,
and many more.
Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on local house.
Day 06: TANJUNG LOKANG –SUNGAI BULIT (B,L,D)
We will start the day by trekking across villager farmland and secondary rainforest. The first 2 hours we will be hiking up the hill then
proceed for another hike about 2 ½ hours passing the jungle and dry small river. After lunch en route close to the riverside, the trek
will be up and down again, crossing a small shallow river, and Nyinyit Cave where the local people collect the swift nest that cost so
expensive and very good to support their life inside the cave. Before dark, we will set a campsite for dinner and overnight.
Day 07: SUNGAI BULIT – SUNGAI BONGAN (B,L,D)
After breakfast, we will cross rivers, up and down passing the jungle while exploring exotic flora and fauna of Borneo. After lunch at
riverside, we will then cross jungle, rivers, cave and temporary huts used by villagers when having cultivation or hunting deer, wild
pig, birds, and even sometimes clouded leopard.
Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on bivouac/tent.
Day 08: SUNGAI BONGAN – SUNGAI BONGAN LEA (B,L,D)
Trekking path here is varied but tougher. We will be dealing with a lot of water about ½ - 1 meter deep and walking on rock at
riverside. Afterwards, we will continue our journey by trekking up and down along the riverside, while sighting flora and fauna as well
as the fascinating landscape along the trek. Before dark, we will set our campsite for dinner and overnight.

Today’s trekking is the longest and the toughest trek. After breakfast, we will proceed to trek up and down by crossing river and its
rock. After lunch, we will continue the trek with almost the same characteristic. The trek is so challenging and need more of adventure
spirit and power.
Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on bivouac/tent.
Day 10: PIANG LO`ONG – MULLER RANGE (B,L,D)
After breakfast, we walk for about two hours up and down the river until we reach the foot of Muller Range. It starts from the altitude
of 500 M above sea level to reach the border of West and East Kalimantan at 1000 M above sea level. The path is not so difficult,
however, we will go high uphill passing the jungle. It takes about 1 - 2 hours, depends on your ability. No need to rush as the jungle
view is fantastic. After lunch en route, the trail is easier by trekking downhill to find a good place for setting our campsite.
Day 11: MULLER RANGE – MUARA CUTING (B,L,D)
The trek here is almost the same with as the trek the day before but it is never boring, we will cross rivers, hills, and jungle. On the
way, our Dayak porters will show us how to survive on the jungle by collecting rattan, fish catching, and setting animal trap that
involve you. Before dark, we will set a campsite for dinner and overnight.
Day 12: MUARA CUTING – SAITE (B,L,D)
After breakfast, we will proceed to trek about 3 hours to reach Saite, this time you will have plenty of time to relax, swim, and take a
break after your hard trekking. The trek will pass the jungle, hills, and rivers.
Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on bivouac/tent.
Day 13: MUARA SAITE – TIONG OHANG (B,L,D)
After breakfast, proceed to trek by crossing the river and jungle to reach the mouth of the Mahakam River, this journey will take about
3 hours. We will pass the villager farmlands before reaching the riverside. Upon arrival, the motorized boat will take us to Tiong
Ohang, the first village you encounter after several days in the jungle. We will sight some temporary huts as well as villager farmlands
on riverside.
Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on local inn.
Day 14: TIONG OHANG – LONG BAGUN (B,L,D)
Get a full day trip by public boat to cruise the headwaters of Mahakam River through some challenged rapids while sightseeing
beautiful view of rainforest as well as people unique activities at riverside.
Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on local house.
Day 15: LONG BAGUN – MELAK (B,L,D)
Breakfast at local house, then downward to Melak by public houseboat, here you can explore the local people way of life, the
riverside civilization that certainly different with our normal life on the land. The houseboat is a public traditional wooden boat with two
decks, the first deck for carrying goods and economy class with capacity about 100 passengers and the second deck is for executive
class with capacity of 75 passengers. The economy room is more open both sides and no mattress while the executive served
mattress, with communal room, no cabin and no AC. At the back side, there are some Borneo style toilets and simple restaurant
providing Indonesian food, tea, coffee, and snacks on the first deck. The boat will stop sometimes to pick and drop passengers or
load some supplies. Upon arrival at Melak, transfer to local inn for check-in and overnight.
Day 16: MELAK – KERSIK LUWEY – EHENG – SAMARINDA (B,L,D)
After breakfast, we will proceed to Eheng village to visit an old and impressive longhouse with its unique ornament and shape while
exploring the Tunjung Dayak daily life. Next, we will drive to Kersik Luwey, which is reserved for observing the rare black orchid and
other flora on the zone. Afterwards, transfer to Samarinda for overnight on hotel.
Day 17: SAMARINDA – KABO VILLAGE – KUTAI NATIONAL PARK (B,L,D)
After breakfast, drive to Kabo village for your cruise up the Mentoko river by motorized canoe and then soft trekking in the jungle to
observe wild orangutan.
Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on research camp of Mentoko or tent.
Day 18: KUTAI NATIONAL PARK – KABO VILLAGE – SAMARINDA (B,L,D)
In the morning, we will be trekking in a different trail of the jungle to observe orangutans, monkeys, birds, insects, etc. Next, we will
cruise down the Mentoko River back to Kabo village to catch our car to drive to Samarinda for overnight on hotel.
Day 19: SAMARINDA – MUARA KOMAM – UPAU VILLAGE (B,L,D)
After breakfast, we will drive to Muara Komam to visit a beautiful cave. Next, we will proceed to Upau village to explore the daily life
of Dayak Deah people. In the evening, we can watch their mystical ceremony on a longhouse.

After breakfast, we can see the mystical performance of Dayak Deah which takes about 1 ½ hour. During this time, some women are
dancing with their traditional music, while the men are climbing the thorny tree without getting any injury. Then we will continue our
trip to Nagara village to sight the traditional machete making, metal ware, and pottery home industries. Next, we will travel to Pandak
Daun swamp village to observe water buffaloes swim to the stall and villagers' unique activities as well as enjoying the sunset.
Afterwards, proceed to Loksado for overnight on lodge.
Day 21: BAMBOO RAFTING – RIAM KANAN LAKE – APUAI (B,L,D)
Explore villagers set the bamboo raft then take an adventure trip of bamboo rafting across beautiful landscape of tropical rainforest
along the riverside. Meanwhile our coach will be waiting downstream for the drive to Aranio small port to cruise upward the Riam
Kanan Lake to Apuai to set a campsite on the lakeside.
Day 22: APUAI – RIAM KANAN LAKE – BANJARMASIN (B,L,D)
We will cruise the Riam Kanan Lake to explore beautiful view of forests, mountainous swamp, birds, boat making, floating fishing
ponds, etc. Next, proceed to Banjarmasin for an afternoon canal sightseeing. Afterwards, transfer to hotel for overnight.
Day 23: FLOATING MARKET – SAMPIT (B,L,D)
Early in the morning, we will leave to floating market to explore the unique culture of Banjarese that trade commodities from boat to
boat, then return to hotel crossing Banjarmasin River while sightseeing people activities at riverside. Next, we will drive to Sampit with
some stop over on interesting spots we will meet en route. Free at your own leisure and overnight on hotel.
Day 24: SAMPIT – PANGKALAN BUN – TANJUNG PUTING NATIONAL PARK (B,L,D)
Transfer to Kumai sub-district to board the houseboat to Tanjung Puting National Park. The houseboat is a traditional wooden river
boat about 6m by 2m with a roof forms the upper deck where you can view the rainforest as it glides by. The boat crew includes the
boatman, cook and expert guide. In the peaceful afternoon, we will be slowly exploring the quiet river using the houseboat while
observing the primates along the riverside. Overnight and dining on houseboat, with facilities; thin mattress, pillow, meals, bottled
"mineral" water, mosquito net, kitchen, and simple toilet available on boat besides the familiar helpful guides and boatmen. (B,L,D)
Day 25: TANJUNG PUTING NATIONAL PARK (B,L,D)
After breakfast, we will board the houseboat to cruise upward to Pondok Tanguy to explore the rehabilitation center of the new excaptive orangutans. Next, return to the houseboat to sail upward the creek to Camp Leakey where the older orangutans are
reintroduced into the rainforest. At this station, you will have opportunity to trek into the rainforest with your expert guide and forest
rangers to appreciate the flora as well as view wild orangutans, gibbons, macaques, and birds. Lunch will be served on houseboat. In
the afternoon, we will visit the feeding station to see rehabilitated orangutans that are given additional foods. We will then sail back
down the river and overnight on houseboat.
Day26: TANJUNG PUTING NATIONAL PARK – DEPARTURE (B)
Return to Kumai district by boat then transfer to Pangkalan Bun airport for your next destination. (B)

Day 15: LONG BAGUN – MAHAKAM RIVER (B,L,D)
Breakfast will be served at a local house, then downward to Samarinda by public houseboat. Here you can explore the lifestyle of the
local people, the riverside civilization that is certainly different from our normal lives on land. The houseboat is a public traditional
wooden boat with two decks, the first deck for carrying goods and economy class with capacity about 100 passengers and the
second deck is for executive class with capacity of 75 passengers. The economy room is more open on both sides and no mattress
while the executive served mattress, with communal room, no cabin and no AC. At the back side, there are some Borneo style toilets
and simple restaurant providing Indonesian food, tea, coffee, and snacks on the first deck. The boat will stop sometimes to pick and
drop passengers or loading some supplies. Lunch, dinner and overnight on houseboat.
Day 16: MAHAKAM RIVER – SAMARINDA (B,L,D)
At the second day on the houseboat, we will cruise the lower Mahakam River while sightseeing people unique activities at riverside.
Upon arrival at Samarinda, transfer to your hotel for overnight. Free at your own leisure.
Day 17: SAMARINDA – DEPARTURE (B)
Breakfast at hotel and free at own leisure till the proper time for transferring to airport for your next destination.

Day 03: SINTANG – PUTUSSIBAU (B,L,D)
Proceed to Putussibau by public land transportation, this journey will take an approximately 8 hours passing beautiful views of Mount
Kelam on the roadside. Upon arrival at Putussibau, transfer to your accommodation for overnight. Free at your own leisure.
Day 04: PUTUSSIBAU – BONGAN RIVER (B,L,D)
Proceed to the headwater of the Kapuas River to reach Bongan River using a long boat with all the necessary supplies on board.
The boat is about 1 ½ - 2 meters wide and 6-8 meters long occupies for 4-5 passengers with no roof, so it will be hot and noisy. On
the way, we may stop at the Dayak village to see the longhouse. In certain places we have to go down to the river to pull and push
the boat as the level of the water in the dry season is too shallow. Here you will experience how the boatman and what we call "the
Stone Man" knows exactly where the rock is and how to get away from the rapids. If the rapid is too extreme, we have to walk along
the rock or villager farmlands at riverside and the boat will pick us up in certain place.
Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on bivouac/tent.
Day 05: BONGAN RIVER – TANJUNG LOKANG (B,L,D)
After breakfast, we will proceed for a more challenging journey. Go down, pull and push the boat, walk on the rock or villager
farmlands at riverside while the boat passes the rapids, all of these can give you an unforgettable experience. On the way, you will
see the tropical rainforest of Kalimantan, villager farmlands, hills, and temporary huts until you reach Tanjung Lokang. It is a remote
village, inhabited by Punan Bongan Dayak people, located on the area of Betung Kerihun National Park. If you are a handicraft
collector you may find some rattan basket weaving, traditional Dayak machete, blow pipe gun, palm leaves rounded hat, and many
more.
Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on local house.
Day 06: TANJUNG LOKANG –SUNGAI BULIT (B,L,D)
We start the day by trekking across villager farmland and secondary rainforest. The first 2 hours we will hike the hill then another for
another 2 ½ hours passing the jungle and dry small river. After lunch en route close to the riverside, the trek will be up and down
again, crossing a small shallow river, and Nyinyit Cave where the local people collect the swift nest that cost so expensive and very
good to support their life inside the cave. Before dark, we will set a campsite for dinner and overnight.
Day 07: SUNGAI BULIT – SUNGAI BONGAN (B,L,D)
After breakfast, we will cross rivers, up and down passing the jungle while exploring exotic flora and fauna of Borneo. After lunch at
the riverside, we will then cross jungle, rivers, cave and temporary huts used by villagers when having cultivation or hunting deer, wild
pig, birds, and even sometimes clouded leopard.
Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on bivouac/tent.
Day 08: SUNGAI BONGAN – SUNGAI BONGAN LEA (B,L,D)
Trekking path here is varied but tougher. We will to deal with a lot of with water, about ½ - 1 meter deep and walking on rock at
riverside. Afterwards, we will continue our journey by trekking up and down along the riverside, while sighting flora and fauna as well
as the fascinating landscape along the trek. Before dark, we will set our campsite for dinner and overnight.

Today’s trek is the longest and the toughest trek. After breakfast, we will proceed to trek up and down by crossing the river and its
rock. After lunch, we will continue the trek with almost the same characteristic. The trek is so challenging and needs more of
adventure spirit and power. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on bivouac/tent.
Day 10: PIANG LO`ONG – MULLER RANGE (B,L,D)
After breakfast, we walk for about two hours up and down river until we reach the foot of Muller Range. It starts from the altitude of
500 M above sea level to reach the border of West and East Kalimantan at 1000 M above sea level. The path is not so difficult;
however, it is high uphill passing the jungle. It takes about 1 - 2 hours, depending on your ability. No need to rush as the jungle view
is fantastic. After lunch en route, the trail is easier by trekking downhill to find a good place for setting our campsite.
Day 11: MULLER RANGE – MUARA CUTING (B,L,D)
The trek is almost the same with the day before, but it is never boring. We will cross rivers, hills, and jungle. On the way, our Dayak
porters will show us how to survive on the jungle by collecting rattan, fish catching, and setting animal trap that involve you. Before
dark, we will set a campsite for dinner and overnight.
Day 12: MUARA CUTING – SAITE (B,L,D)
After breakfast, we will proceed to trek for about 3 hours to reach Saite, this time you will have plenty of time to relax, swim and take
a break after your hard trekking. The trek will pass the jungle, hills, and rivers. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on
bivouac/tent.
Day 13: MUARA SAITE – TIONG OHANG (B,L,D)
After breakfast, proceed to trek by crossing the river and jungle to reach the mouth of the Mahakam River; this trek will take and
approximately 3 hours. We will pass the villager farmlands before reaching the riverside. Upon arrival, a motorized boat will take us to
Tiong Ohang, the first village you encounter after several days in the jungle. We will sight some temporary huts as well as villager
farmlands on riverside. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on local inn.
Day 14: TIONG OHANG – LONG BAGUN (B,L,D)
Today, we will go for a full day trip by public boat to cruise the headwaters of Mahakam River through some challenged rapids while
sightseeing beautiful view of rainforest as well as people unique activities at riverside. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and
overnight on local house.
Day 15: LONG BAGUN – MAHAKAM RIVER (B,L,D)
Breakfast will be served at a local house, then downward to Samarinda by public houseboat. Here you can explore the lifestyle of the
local people, the riverside civilization that is certainly different from our normal lives on land. The houseboat is a public traditional
wooden boat with two decks, the first deck for carrying goods and economy class with capacity about 100 passengers and the
second deck is for executive class with capacity of 75 passengers. The economy room is more open on both sides and no mattress
while the executive served mattress, with communal room, no cabin and no AC. At the back side, there are some Borneo style toilets
and simple restaurant providing Indonesian food, tea, coffee, and snacks on the first deck. The boat will stop sometimes to pick and
drop passengers or loading some supplies. Lunch, dinner and overnight on houseboat.
Day 16: MAHAKAM RIVER – SAMARINDA (B,L,D)
At the second day on the houseboat, we will cruise the lower Mahakam River while sightseeing people unique activities at riverside.
Arrive at Samarinda and directly transfer to hotel for overnight. Free at your own leisure.
Day 17: SAMARINDA – BANJARMASIN (B,L,D)
Breakfast at hotel and free at own leisure until your transfer to the airport for your flight to Banjarmasin.
Upon arrival at Banjarmasin airport, transfer to your hotel for check in. Next, exploring Banjarese river civilization by taking an
afternoon canal sightseeing. Afterwards, return to hotel for overnight.
Day 18: FLOATING MARKET – PANGKALAN BUN – TANJUNG PUTING NATIONAL PARK (B,L,D)
Early in the morning, we will leave for the floating market to exploring the unique culture of Banjarese that trade commodities from
boat to boat, then return to your hotel crossing Banjarmasin River while sightseeing peoples’ activities at the riverside, free at your
own leisure until your transfer to the airport for your flight to Pangkalan Bun.
Upon arrival at Pangkalan Bun airport, transfer to Kumai sub-district to board the houseboat to Tanjung Puting National Park. The
houseboat is a traditional wooden river boat about 6m by 2m with a roof forms the upper deck where you can view the rainforest as it
glides by. The boat crew includes the boatman, cook and expert guide. In the peaceful afternoon, we will slowly explore the quiet
river using the houseboat while observing the primates along the riverside. Overnight and dining on houseboat, with facilities; thin
mattress, pillow, meals, bottled "mineral" water, mosquito net, kitchen, and simple toilet available on boat besides the familiar helpful
guides and boatmen.

After breakfast, we will board the houseboat to cruise upward to Pondok Tanguy to
explore the rehabilitation center of the new ex-captive orangutans. Next, return to
the houseboat to sail upward the creek to Camp Leakey where the older orangutans
are reintroduced into the rainforest. At this station, you will have opportunity to trek
into the rainforest with your expert guide and forest rangers to appreciate the flora
as well as view wild orangutans, gibbons, macaques, and birds.
Lunch will be served on houseboat.
In the afternoon, we will visit the feeding station to see rehabilitated orangutans that
are given additional foods. We will then sail back, down the river and overnight on
houseboat.
Day 20: TANJUNG PUTING NATIONAL PARK (B,L,D)
Go for a morning river safari using the houseboat to observe the river ecology and wildlife along the riverside. En route, we will make
a stop in Pondok Tanggui Feeding Station to watch the rangers feed the orangutans. Next, we will continue our trip by visiting the
Pesalat Station to see the reforestation activities and observe the famous ‘iron wood’.
Lunch will be served on boat while sighting wild animal activities along the riverside.
Next, continue your trip to Tanjung Harapan Feeding Station to view the feedings orangutans. Afterwards, we will visit the traditional
village of Tanjung Harapan to observe the villagers' daily activities. Enjoy the natural river view on the way back, dinner and overnight
on houseboat.
Day 21: TANJUNG PUTING NATIONAL PARK – DEPARTURE (B)
Return to Kumai district by boat then transfer to Pangkalan Bun airport for your next destination.

learn from the Dayak man how to set an animal trap.

After breakfast, we will be trekking uphill through mossy trees and orchids to reach the peak of mount Besar, the roof of South
Borneo where we can see beautiful panorama of Borneo’s dense jungle from above. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and

Day 05: MOUNT BESAR PEAK – KATUAN (B,L,D)
After packing up our stuff, we will trek down the peak to Katuan to set our campsite. On the way, we will hear and see plenty of
gibbons jump on trees in the jungle. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on bivouac/tent.
Day 06: KATUAN – HARATAI (B,L,D)
Proceed to Haratai waterfall crossing primary and secondary rainforest, hills, hanging and suspended bamboo bridges, villager

Day 08: TANJUNG PUTING NATIONAL PARK – DEPARTURE (B)
Return to Kumai district by boat then transfer to Pangkalan Bun airport for your next destination.

Day 02: RAINFOREST TREKKING (B,L,D)
Proceed to explore the jungle and Dayak land crossing primary and secondary
rainforest, hills, waterfall, hanging and suspended bamboo bridges, villager farmlands,
rivers and cascades, longhouses, cinnamon and rubber trees. In the afternoon, we will

Day 03: BAMBOO RAFTING – PAGATAN BEACH (B,L,D)
After breakfast, we will take an adventure trip of bamboo rafting across beautiful landscape of tropical rainforest along the Amandit
riverside. Meanwhile our coach will be waiting downstream for the drive to Pagatan beach for your overnight on Putri Duyung Sea
View Cottage.
Day 04: PAGATAN BEACH – ANGSANA BEACH – KINTAP (B,L,D)
Enjoy the wonderful sunrise from the cottage and have breakfast at the beach café. We will then proceed to Angsana beach to catch
our boat to Batu Anjir and Karang Kima for snorkeling on the beautiful sea garden to explore colorful coral, species of fish, turtles,
etc. Next, we will cruise the Angsana River to spot wildlife such as birds, macaques, wild pig, etc. Afterwards, we will drive to Kintap
town for overnight at a local hotel.
Day 05: KINTAP – ASAM RIVER – BANJARMASIN (B,L,D)
After breakfast, we will drive to the port to catch our boat for a cruise at the Asam River to spot crocodiles, proboscis monkeys,
langurs, birds, and other wild animals. Afterwards, proceed to Banjarmasin for overnight at hotel.
Day 06: FLOATING MARKET – PALANGKA RAYA – RUNGAN SARI (B,L,D)
Early in the morning, we will leave for the floating market to explore the unique culture of Banjarese that trade commodities from boat
to boat, then return to hotel crossing Banjarmasin River while observing the local peoples’ activities at the riverside. Next, proceed to
Palangka Raya for overnight at Rungan Sari Lodge. In the peaceful afternoon, we will visit Arboretum Nyaru Menteng to explore the
endemic vegetation of peat swamp forest and some wild animals such as; birds, monitor lizards, black leaf monkeys, and other
animals that emerge occasionally. Next, we will proceed to Bukit Tangkiling Nature Reserve to hike up the hill to enjoy beautiful view
of plain and rivers from the top as well as the sunset. Afterward, return to the lodge for overnight.
Day 07: RUNGAN SARI – ORANGUTAN ISLAND – AIRPORT (B)
After breakfast, we will proceed to Tahai Lake to catch our motorized canoe to reach Palas Island while sightseeing the beautiful
natural black water lake and canal, just keep an eye out for proboscis monkeys, eagles, monkeys and hornbill. Palas Island is one of
the 5 islands that is managed by Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation for orangutan rehabilitation before released into the wild.

Day 01: ARRIVAL IN BALIKPAPAN – SANGATTA (L, D)
Meet and greet upon arrival at the airport and transfer to Sangatta town for your

Day 02: SANGATTA – KUTAI NATIONAL PARK (B,L,D)
After breakfast, drive to Kabo village for your cruise up to Mentoko by a motorized
canoe and then soft trekking in the jungle to observe wild orangutan. In the afternoon,
we will trek other trails for more exploring orangutans and other wildlife. Mentoko is a
site in Kutai National Park that offers various trekking trails to explore wild orangutans
and other animals, a Japanese scientist built a research camp to study the orangutans
here. In the evening, we will have a night safari to observe nocturnal animals such as
tarantula, insects, birds, and many more.
Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on research camp or tent.
Day 03: KUTAI NATIONAL PARK – KABO VILLAGE – SAMARINDA (B,L,D)
In the morning, we will be trekking in a different trail of the jungle to observe orangutans, monkeys, birds, insects, etc. Next, we will
cruise down the Mentoko River back to Kabo village to catch our coach to Samarinda. Overnight at your hotel.
Day 04: SAMARINDA – MAHAKAM RIVER – MUARA MUNTAI (B,L,D)
After breakfast at your hotel, we will proceed to the boat station for your cruise at the Mahakam River with a public houseboat, here
you can observe the local peoples’ way of life, the riverside civilization that is certainly different from our normal life on the land. The
houseboat is a public traditional wooden boat with two decks, the first deck for carrying goods and economy class with capacity about
100 passengers and the second deck is for executive class with capacity of 75 passengers. The economy room is more open on both
sides and no mattress while the executive has mattress, with communal room, no cabin and no AC. At the back side, there are some
Borneo style toilets and simple restaurant providing Indonesian food, tea, coffee, and snacks on the first deck. The boat will
sometimes stop to pick and drop passengers or load some supplies. Upon arrival at Muara Muntai and check in to the lodge.
Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on lodge.
Day 05: MUARA MUNTAI – MANCONG –KOTA BANGUN – SAMARINDA (B,L,D)
Proceed to Mancong by a motorized canoe crossing the Jempang Lake of which we will have the opportunity to view many migratory
water bird species and fishermen floating houses as well as the Ohong River where proboscis monkeys, monitor lizards and other
wild animals are hanging around at riverside. In Mancong, we will explore an exotic longhouse and Benuaq Dayak daily life.
Afterwards, proceed to Kota Bangun to catch our transportation back to Samarinda for overnight at your hotel.

are hanging around at the riverside. In Mancong, we will explore an exotic

Proceed to visit the information center of RASI (Rare Aquatic Species of Indonesia) to know more information about the uniqueness
of the fresh water dolphin found in the area. Then continue our trip by boat on Kedang Pahu River to spot the fresh water dolphin.
Next, cruise up the Bolowan River to explore the wildlife and observe the daily lives of the Dayak people who live on the riverside.
Afterwards, return to the houseboat for your cruise to Melak.

trip to Pandak Daun swamp village to explore the water buffaloes and villagers' unique activities. Next, we will travel to Nagara village
to sight traditional machete making, metal ware, and pottery home industries. Afterwards, transfer to Loksado for your overnight in

Day 10: SAMPIT – PANGKALAN BUN – TANJUNG PUTING NATIONAL PARK (B,L,D)
Transfer to Kumai sub-district to board the houseboat to Tanjung Puting National Park. The houseboat is a traditional wooden river
boat about 6m by 2m with a roof forms the upper deck where you can view the rainforest as it glides by. The boat crew includes the
boatman, cook and expert guide. In the peaceful afternoon, we will slowly explore the quiet river by the houseboat while observing
the primates along the riverside. Overnight and dining on houseboat, with facilities; thin mattress, pillow, meals, bottled "mineral"
water, mosquito net, kitchen, and simple toilet available on boat besides the familiar helpful guides and boatmen.
Day 11: TANJUNG PUTING NATIONAL PARK (B,L,D)
After breakfast, we will board the houseboat to cruise upward to Pondok Tanguy and explore the rehabilitation center of the new excaptive orangutans. Next, return to houseboat to sail upward the creek to Camp Leakey where the older orangutans are reintroduced
into the rainforest. At this station, you will have opportunity to trek into the rainforest with your expert guide and forest rangers to
appreciate the flora as well as viewing wild orangutans, gibbons, macaques, and birds. Lunch will be served on houseboat. In the
afternoon, we will visit the feeding station to see rehabilitated orangutans that are given additional foods. We will then sail back the
river and overnight on houseboat.
Day12: TANJUNG PUTING NATIONAL PARK – DEPARTURE (B)

After breakfast at the hotel, we will proceed to the boat station to start our
expedition by cruising the Mahakam River using a public houseboat. Here
you can observe the local people way of life, the riverside civilization that is
certainly different from our normal life on land. The houseboat is a public
traditional wooden boat with two decks, the first deck for carrying goods and
economy class with capacity about 100 passengers and the second deck is
for executive class with capacity of 75 passengers. The economy room is
more open on both sides and no mattress while the executive has mattress,
with communal room, no cabin and no AC. At the back side, there are some Borneo style toilets and simple restaurant providing
Indonesian food, tea, coffee, and snacks on the first deck. The boat will sometimes stop to pick and drop passengers or load some
supplies.

Day 03: MAHAKAM RIVER – LONG BAGUN (B,L,D)
At the second day on the houseboat, we will cruise the upper Mahakam River while sightseeing the beautiful view of rainforest as
well as observing the local peoples’ unique activities by the riverside.

Day 04: LONG BAGUN – TIANG OHANG (B,L,D)
Go for a full day trip using a public boat to cruise the headwaters of Mahakam River through some amazing rapids while sightseeing
beautiful view of rainforest as well as observing the local peoples’ unique activities by the riverside.
Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on local house.
Day 05: TIONG OHANG – MUARA HUBUNG – MUARA SAITE (B,L,D)
After breakfast at a local house, we will cruise the headwaters of Mahakam River by a motorized canoe for about 2.5 hours to reach
Muara Hubung. Afterwards, we will start our jungle trekking by climbing up the Atikop hill to reach Muara Saite for approximately 3.5
hours. Before dark, we will set a campsite at riverside.
Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on bivouac/tent.
Day 06: MUARA SAITE – SUNGAI BEKANA – ARINGE (B,L,D)
We will be trekking deeper into the jungle by crossing rivers and climb up the hills to reach Aringe to set a campsite by the riverside.

Day 07: ARINGE – MULLER RANGE (B,L,D)
We will be trekking deeper into the jungle to reach Muller Range by crossing rivers and hills. On the way, our Dayak porters will show
us how to survive on the jungle by collecting the rattan, fish catching, and setting animal trap that will involve you. Before dark, we will
set a campsite for dinner and overnight.
Day 08: MULLER RANGE – SUNGAI SABANG (B,L,D)
The trek here is almost the same with the day before but it is never boring, we will pass the monument border of West and East
Kalimantan at 1000 M above sea level. Afterwards, we will be trekking downhill and crossing rivers to reach Sungai Sabang to set a
campsite by the riverside. No need to rush as the jungle view is fantastic.
Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on bivouac/tent.

This is the longest and toughest of all paths, since we will be trekking up and down by crossing rivers, rocks, and hills. After lunch at
riverside, we will continue the trek with almost the same characteristic. The trek is so challenging that one needs more power and
spirit of adventure. Before dark, we will set a campsite by th riverside.
Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on bivouac/tent.
Day 10: SUNGAI BONGAN LEA – BRAKAN (B,L,D)
The trekking path here is varied but tough. We will have to deal with a lot of water about ½ - 1 meter deep and walking on rock at the
riverside. Afterwards, we will continue our journey by trekking up and down along the riverside, while sighting flora and fauna as well
as the fascinating landscape along the trek. Before dark, we will set a campsite for dinner and overnight.
Day 11: BRAKAN – DATAH OPET (B,L,D)
After breakfast, we will cross rivers, up and down passing the jungle while exploring exotic flora and fauna of Borneo. After lunch at
the riverside, we will then cross jungle, rivers, cave and temporary huts used by villagers when having cultivation or hunting deer, wild
pig, birds, and even sometimes clouded leopard.
Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on bivouac/tent.
Day 12: DATAH OPET – TANJUNG LOKANG (B,L,D)
After breakfast, we will be trekking to Tanjung Lokang crossing secondary rainforest, rivers, hills, villager farmlands and cave.
Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on local house.
Day 13: TANJUNG LOKANG – KAPUAS RIVER – PUTUSSIBAU (B,L,D)
After breakfast, we will cruise downward the Kapuas River to Putussibau crossing the challenging rapids while sightseeing the
beautiful view of rainforest as well as people unique activities at riverside.
Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on local hotel.
Day 14: PUTUSSIBAU – SINTANG (B,L,D)
Proceed to Sintang by public land transportation for about 8 hours passing the beautiful view of Mount Kelam on the roadside. Arrive
at Sintang and transfer to a nice simple hotel for your overnight. Free at your own leisure.
Day 15: SINTANG – PONTIANAK (B,L,D)
After breakfast, we will leave for Pontianak by public land transportation which will take aboute 8 hours.
Lunch will be served on local restaurant en route, dinner and overnight on hotel. Free at your own leisure.
Day 16: DEPARTURE (B)
Breakfast at hotel and free at your own leisure until your transfer to the airport to catch your flight for your next destination.

Day 01: ARRIVAL IN PALANGKA RAYA – ORANGUTAN ISLAND –
RUNGAN SARI (D)
Meet and greet upon arrival at the airport and transfer to Rungan Sari
Lodge for your check in. Next, we will proceed to Tahai Lake to catch our
motorized canoe to reach Palas Island while sightseeing the beautiful
natural black water lake and canal, just keep an eye out for proboscis
monkeys, eagles, monkeys and hornbill.
Palas Island is one of the 5 islands that is managed by Borneo
Orangutan Survival Foundation for orangutan rehabilitation before they
Orang Utans are released into the wild. Afterwards, return to the lodge
for your overnight. Free at your own leisure.
Day 02: RUNGAN SARI – BATILAP (B,L,D)
After breakfast, proceed to Betung which will take about 4,5 hours drive
across pristine lowland forest and peat swamp landscape. Arrive at
Betung and continue with a cruise on the Black Puning River into Batilap
village for your overnight on the floating or stilt house of local people.
Day 03: BATILAP – BLACK PUNING RIVER (B,L,D)
After breakfast, we will be trekking into the jungle to explore the wild orangutans and other wildlife such as birds, sun bears, gibbons,
as well as various vegetations of Borneo. In the peaceful afternoon, we will cruise deeper in the Black Puning River where the wildlife
such as proboscis monkeys, long tail macaques, birds and others are usually showing up.
Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on campsite on riverside.
Day 04: BLACK PUNING RIVER – BLACK ORCHID – BUNTOK (B,L,D)
After breakfast, we will be cruising under the canopy of the Buntal River where birds, proboscis monkeys, long tail macaques, monitor
lizards and other wild animals are hanging around the riverside. Afterwards, proceed to Buntok town for your check in at a local hotel.
In the afternoon, we will drive to Sanggu village to explore the black orchid and other species, the carnivorous pitcher plants, and the
fascinating sunset on the lake. Return to hotel for overnight.
Day 05: BUNTOK – DEPARTURE (B)

boatman, cook and expert guide. In the peaceful afternoon, we will slowly explore
the quiet river using the houseboat while observing the primates along the
riverside. Overnight and dining on houseboat, with facilities; thin mattress, pillow,
meals, bottled "mineral" water, mosquito net, kitchen, and simple toilet available on
boat besides the familiar helpful guides and boatmen.
Day 02: TANJUNG PUTING NATIONAL PARK (B,L,D)
After breakfast, we will board the houseboat to cruise upward to Pondok Tanguy to explore the rehabilitation center of the new excaptive orangutans. Next, return to the houseboat to sail upwards the creek to Camp Leakey where the older orangutans are
reintroduced into the rainforest. At this station, you will have opportunity to trek into the rainforest with your guide and forest rangers
to appreciate the flora as well as viewing wild orangutans, gibbons, macaques, and birds. Lunch will be served on houseboat. In the
afternoon, we will visit the feeding station to see rehabilitated orangutans that are given additional foods. We will then sail back the
river and overnight on houseboat.

Pesalat Station to explore reforestation activities and the famous iron wood as well as other exotic vegetation. Lunch will be served
on boat while sighting wild animal activities along the riverside. Next, we will depart to Tanjung Harapan Feeding Station to view the
feeding process of Orang Utans. Afterwards, we will proceed to Tanjung Harapan village to observe the local villagers' daily activities.
Enjoy the natural river view on the way back, dinner and overnight on the houseboat.
Day 04: TANJUNG PUTING NATIONAL PARK – DEPARTURE (B)
Return to Kumai district by boat then transfer to Pangkalan Bun airport for your next destination.

Kalimantan is the Indonesian part of the island of Borneo, the 3rd largest island in the world, covering 580,000 km2 .
While some areas are highland, others are low land, flowed by tremendous rivers such as Kapuas River, Mahakam
Driver, Barito River and others. Kalimantan is covered by one of the world’s largest stretches of tropical rainforest and is
inhabited by sub-ethnics of Dayak people.
The word Kalimantan comes from the Indonesian Language, “Kali and Intan’ meaning river of diamond, an apt
description to the abundant resources of the land. Kalimantan is divided into five (5) provinces, East Kalimantan, West
Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, North Kalimantan and South Kalimantan.
There is an approximately 12 million people living in the whole of Kalimantan. However, most regions remains sparsely
