Camping, like many Y programs, is about learning skills, developing character and making friends. Few environments are as special as camp. Kids become a community as they learn how to be more independent and how to contribute to a group while engaging in physical, social and educational activities. Camping teaches self-reliance, a love for nature and the outdoors, and the development of attitudes and practices that build character and leadership. Y counselors are dedicated to making sure camp is an amazing experience for every camper. OUR PHILOSOPHY The YMCA of Delaware believes in providing comprehensive camp programs, which foster the social, cultural, physical and emotional development of children of all ages. All activities reflect the character values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. We create an opportunity for children to enhance their self-esteem, build friendship skills, develop greater independence as well as give them a sense of their creative potential in a safe, fun and nurturing environment. 2 | (302) 296-YMCA • WWW.YSUMMERCAMP.ORG SAVE THE DATES MOVIE NIGHTS The Sussex YMCA will have a movie the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month this summer. But for some kids, exposure to activities that stimulate the body and mind ends with the school year. In fact, research shows that kids are prone to gain more weight and fall behind in the summer. On April 30th, the Y will celebrate Healthy Kids day, our national initiative to improve the health and well-being of kids. This event is open to the community!
