ED’S LETTER EOA
h wow! How
time
flies
when you’re
having fun
engaging in
conversations and mindblowing dialogues. We have
almost spent two years
together. Thank you for
journeying with us!
Spring
triggers
a
fascination and appreciation
for the fashion and beauty
trends of our continent. It
is arguably the epitome of
fun and bright colours and
it’s breathtaking to witness
the pride, elegance and
confidence that is crafted
by designers in Africa, and around the world. Their talent
showcases diverse and unapologetic bright colour scheme
combinations. Fashion is about expessing your feelings freely,
and in this issue we unveil spring beauty and fashion trends.
My heart delights every time I see creative new African
designs incorporated by big fashion and beauty brands.
Being born and raised in Africa, it took me a while to
appreciate the essence of African fashion. For me, as a black
woman, the magic is not only the African print; all I needed
was unique, playful and affordable apparel. African print has
always been a fabric of elegance close to my heart and it has
been an African signature for all stylish Africans.
Last September, African prints were a highlight of all
international fashion shows. However, I thought it was just
a fad and gave it a shelf life. I believed it would soon be
forgotten. There is a gentle but significant new mood sweeping
through design houses and
it is inspiring to watch and
embrace the wispy tendrils
of fashion change in the
creative world in which we
live.
Africa has celebrated
a landmark year on the
catwalk. African prints
and designs penetrated
the global market and
transformed the fashion and
beauty landscape. African
designers have become
trendsetters for the world
to see and follow. No other
continent has produced
such enviable art.
Our pages overflow with
this year’s spring fashion and we dare you to rock your vibrant
prints and appreciate the beauty that is Africa.
