Objective : $2.5 million - Fondation de l`Hôpital Memphrémagog
Investing in health while we still have it, not once it is gone... Magog is a dynamic and generous region. Business opportunities are readily available for small-medium sized businesses at municipal, regional and even international levels: after 20 years in business, I can say that I, along with many other regional entrepreneurs, have taken advantage of the opportunities offered in this region. We are tied to this region because of the success of our businesses, and the possibilities for future opportunities. Individually, we can possess all the means and money we want, but we cannot buy health. We are all equals on this basis. This is why it is in our interest, as individuals and as a society, to acutely invest in this sector: we all, whether for ourselves or for a family member, have used the healthcare services. We are lucky that in Memphremagog, we can benefit from an up-to-date health and social services center (CSSS), with a professional team and state of the art equipment. Our local leaders and healthcare providers have the budget and funds required to meet the needs of our local population. I consider the financial and voluntary support of the local community, business community and regional institutions to be indispensable. Sustainable development must be at the forefront of healthcare. Our CSSS (health and social services center) must be sustainable. It must be a professional development tool available on a daily basis and at a reasonable cost that can serve us all – for many years. This campaign aims to support our fight against cancer. This is a prime example of a long term struggle, one where our efforts must be doubled and our financial support reinvested. Like Ms Line Couture and I, co-chairs of this campaign, let us invest in our local health services. Let us beat cancer! Paying it forward... I believe that in life, it is important to give back. This is why I have decided to lead the third major fundraising campaign for the CSSS Memphremagog: let us continue to contribute — together — to leave a significant social heritage in our community! Your health care partner in the fight against cancer! Stéphane Bégin Major Fundraising Campaign Co-Chair Founder & President, Conceptromec Export Inc. Proximity and reception influence the treatment and healing process! A major fundraising campaign is key for an organization like the Memphremagog health and social services center (CSSS): it is an opportunity for the Foundation to reactivate its network, which is an essential component of its philanthropic activities. It is thanks to its network of volunteers that our Foundation is able to raise funds and meet its objectives – and at the same time, ensure that the CSSS continuously improves the care and services offered to the regional population. This is why it is an honor for Mr Stéphane Bégin and I, to co-chair the third major fundraising campaign for the Memphremagog Hospital Foundation. We, as spokespeople for this campaign, are committed to actively transmitting the needs of our CSSS so that it may pursue its mission. Cancer is rampant in our society. It is a struggle that particularly touches my heart. People with cancer must endure chemotherapy and wish to have quality healthcare offered close to home. In such cases, the warmth of those who treat us, their reception when they know us, their proximity in the event of an emergency contribute to and influence the treatment and the healing process! Thanks to the Foundation, we can help support our needs. The major fundraising campaign will fund a chemotherapy service, surgery for certain cancers in Magog and even home care. When added up, those contributions help improve the health and lives of the people we serve. Our contribution is also a message to healthcare leaders that we’re concerned about local health and we want to see it treated as a priority. This campaign will contribute to the quality of care provided in our community, including the treatment of cancer. Thank you for donatings to our fight against cancer and to our constant work to improve local healthcare services! Line Couture Major Fundraising Campaign Co-Chair Notary, Cabinet Gérin Pomerleau Couture, senc Objective : $2.5 million MAJOR FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN 2012-2016 Mission : The human touch of the Centre de santé et de services sociaux de Memphrémagog (CSSSM) The CSSSM is an essential establishment of our regional county municipality (MRC). It was created in 1907 by the Filles de la Charité du SacréCœur de Jésus, and is profoundly rooted in the history of our community. While subjected to fusions a decade ago, the CSSSM continues its activities under the one banner: to offer a gamut of services – the most complete possible – to the MRC population in general, and to the most vulnerable, in particular. The services are based on a human approach that encourages the development and maintenance of health and autonomy of the territory’s population. A population that is increasing … and growing older in the Memphremagog MRC The Memphremagog MRC covers 1,330 km2 and counts 17 municipalities. The population served by the CSSSM will reach 50,900 people in 2016 and count 12,350 people over the 65 years old – which is 60% more than in 2006. Furthermore, the MRC is a popular tourist destination, both in the summer, with its lakes Massawippi and Memphremagog, and in the winter, by its proximity to ski centers – Mont Orford and Owl’s Head. During peak periods, over 5,000 visitors can pass through the region each day. Philanthropy, relevant and…sustainable The Centre de santé et de services sociaux de Memphrémagog is a center which is close to home. It provides superior quality services to the community. Its services are periodically evaluated and certified by Accreditation Canada. This health center is known for its personalized service, its attention to the needs in the area, its sound management and its vision for the future. Above all, the CSSSM can count on a highly competent team of professionals who know their resources, who are able to identify needs according to age groups, and are concerned about maintaining the highest level of healthcare to members of the community. For the CSSSM, innovation in home care and palliative care must be implemented to meet the demands of its population. The acquisition of new equipment will extend the availability for these services. The CSSSM challenge in 2012 : Fulfill three important needs with $2.5 million Currently, needs are felt in three major areas that must be consolidated, developed and optimized : 1 Oncology $1 million 2 Operating Room $1 million 3 Home-Care Support $500,000 Cancer has become the leading cause of death in Quebec. Access to screening and treatment of the most frequent types of cancer must be developed locally. The acquisition of new diagnostic technologies and the implementation of locally based treatments such as outpatient (or ambulant) chemotherapy are pressing needs. A new and expanded operating room would significantly increase local access to surgery. It would be possible to double the number of surgical interventions over a one year period and expand the kinds of surgery available with new specialized equipment. The CSSSM seeks to bring health care services closer to its local population - within its own facilities and in the homes of those in need of care – throughout the territory. The Foundation can help by consolidating the equipment needed to increase the quality of home care and services. Total $2,500,000 Thus, the Memphremagog Hospital Foundation seeks the financial support of the community to ensure continued and improved access to health care services in order to meet the needs of our population. Support to the major fundraising campaign and a donation to the Foundation is a contribution to a relevant and sustainable philanthropic endeavour!
