DMT MAG series: an exclusive patent
Innovation is an integral part of DMT’s DNA. Its Research and Development
team is continuously developing new solutions to enhance the technical
properties of all products. In 2007, after extensive research, introduced the
world’s first cycling shoes with magnesium soles.
Up until now, soles in composite carbon fibers have been the favorite option for professional cycling shoes, despite the fact that this material can no
longer be considered technologically advanced.
DMT’s continuous focus on innovation and on the need for improving the
quality of products has led the company to develop an exclusive patent
for a state-of-the-art cycling shoe with magnesium sole. These soles have
less weight compared to those made in carbon elements. Magnesium
soles are more comfortable because of the enhanced dissipation of heat,
which often causes discomfort to cyclists. The new soles offer equivalent
performances and mechanical properties to the carbon versions.
DMT has further improved its products by developing different solutions for
the manufacture and fitting of shoes, in addition to developing exclusive
cleat blocking systems.

Magnesium: technical processing characteristics
Magnesium is an essential part of our life and is relatively widespread on the
earth. It can often be found combined with other elements, particularly with
minerals like carnalite, dolomite, magnesite and in many silicates present in
rocks.
Among structural metals, magnesium is the lightest due to its very low
density. Because of its interesting mechanical properties, it is often
combined with copper or aluminum to make very light alloys with a high
resistance to traction. These alloys are used for several applications,
specifically for the manufacture of light but resistant components.
Magnesium has a very low melting point and thus has to be processed with
very delicate procedures. Cast magnesium needs to be protected from
direct exposure to oxygen which could quickly degrade its quality.
These complex manufacturing processes confirm the difficulties that DMT
has had to overcome during design and manufacturing in order to offer
its customers innovative products that enable excellent performance in all
cycling conditions.

DMT’s idea of reversing the
closure system was developed
after observing the movements of
triathletes: at the end of the first
competition athletes must jump
on the bike and start pedaling

reversed Velcro closures makes

removing the obstacles that are

who practice triathlon, a hard sport with three activities in one event, which requires superhuman
effort and high-performance components.
The specific characteristics of these shoes include: an enlarged rear tab placed on the heel and

DMT is introducing for the first time a shoe model
designed to be used before and after training
and competitions and that further enriches our
range of unique and outstanding shoes.
This product has been developed using all the
innovative solutions available.
The uppers are the same of the leading models
for on-road and off-road cycling, which means
that they have neither seams nor overlapping
materials and are particularly comfortable after
hours of cycling. DMT’s aim in this design was
quite simply to offer a shoe that wraps around
the foot like a sock.
The perforations on the uppers keep the foot
fresh after intense cycling and by guaranteeing
an excellent air circulation.
The ultra-light micro-porous rubber sole guarantees a good adherence during walks and is
extremely comfortable.

The Kondo is DMT’s initial entry into freeride footwear. The same advanced materials, design elements and manufacturing expertise that DMT is
famous for are incorporated into the Kondo. A
truly technical shoe it provides a high level of performance but is equally at home off the bike as it
is on. Its rugged construction makes it durable
even in the most extreme terrain whether on the
bike or hiking. It has a speed-lace closure with a
lace loop to secure the lace ends. The Kondo’s
sole is genuine VIBRAM®, for maximum durability
and traction in all conditions and accepts SPD™
style cleats. It has a removable cleat cover tho
protect the mounting hardware when no cleat is
installed.

on and off the bike. The DMT draft Freeride sole
accepts SPD™ cleats in a recessed area so it’s
still easy to walk in even with a cleat installed.
The upper features a full lace closure with an additional strap that does double duty securing the
lace ends while providing added support.

Indoor cycling is one of the most effective methods of maintaining fitness throughout the year.
The Revo assists in this endeavor in that it’s a
technical performance shoe that provides the
protection and control that only a cycling shoe
can. Normal sports shoes do not have rigid
enough sole to prevent possible nerve damage.
The three strap closure system is secured with
Velcro® fasteners to allow infinite adjustment.
The non-marking sole is safe on all indoor surfaces and will accept SPD™ type cleats.
