Editor’s Note
A highly anticipated annual event, Putra Charity Run 2015 marked another
successful closure at Bandar Putra. It took place on Saturday, 22nd August 2015,
and the event received overwhelming participation from Bandar Putra community
and nearby townships that consisted of eager runners, families and students
from various schools in Kulai and Johor Bahru.
Coinciding with the Merdeka Celebrations, wholesome activities and programmes
were held such as aerobics, sand art and colouring fun. Winners walk away with
handsome prizes while participants received certificates and medals. RM 70,000
collected from the Run and donations from corporate sponsors were channelled to
the Handicapped and Mentally Disabled Children Association of Johor Bahru.
Named “Ambang Merdeka”, this year’s “Sehati Sejiwa” National Day Celebrations
organised by IOI Mall and local authorities received tremendous support from
the Kulai community. There was a countdown concert by local artistes and
fireworks display amongst other activities that brought togetherness, the spirit
of solidarity, understanding and humanity of all people in the country.

On
July 2015, the second week of fasting month of Ramadan, IOI Mall
organised a Bubur Lambuk Cooking Competition in collaboration with Mosques,
Surau and Kawasan Rukun Tetangga (KRT) around Kulaijaya and Senai districts,
to enliven the festivities in the holy month of Ramadhan.
4 Julai 2015 adalah minggu kedua bagi umat Islam menyambut bulan Ramadan. Untuk
memeriahkan lagi aktiviti bulan yang mulia ini, IOI Mall mengambil inisiatif menganjurkan
Pertandingan Memask Bubur Lambuk dengan kerjasama Masjid, Surau dan Kawasan
Rukun Tetangga sekitar Kulaijaya dan Senai.
The main objective of the event was to strengthen the relationship between IOI
Mall and the community. It showed the public, especially non-muslims how
Muslims welcome the arrival of Ramadan with traditional activities and
attractions.
Objektif utama acara ini adalah untuk mengeratkan hubungan antara IOI Mall dan
komuniti selain mendedahkan kepada masyarakat bukan Islam mengenai sambutan
bulan Ramadan oleh umat Islam.

A series of activities scheduled during the event included the much anticipated
Bubur Lambuk Cooking Competition with participants and support from our
local Mosques, Surau and KRT, Azan Competition for Children, Charity Sale of
Rendang and Ketupat, Pesta Mengacau Dodol and also Majlis Berbuka Puasa
with orphans and old folks.
The competition held at IOI Mall received overwhelming support and positive
feedback from the Kulaijaya and Senai community, with 15 groups registered to
participate in the competition. The event started as early as 9.00 a.m. and ended
at 4.00 p.m., with all the 2,000 packs of bubur lambuk distributed post-event at
5.00pm to the public, including IOI Mall shoppers. This year, the winner of the
Bubur Lambuk Cooking Competition was KRT Zon A Taman Wawasan, who
walked away with RM1,000 in cash, attractive hamper from ADABI, champion’s
trophy and certificate. Second place went to KRT Zon Jalan Matahari who were
rewarded with RM800 in cash, hamper from ADABI, 2nd place trophy and
certificate. Last but not least, KRT Jalan Tiong won the third place and walked
away with RM600, hamper from ADABI, trophy and certificate.
Terdapat beberapa aktiviti yang dijadualkan semasa acara tersebut. Antaranya ialah
Pertandingan Memasak Bubur Lambuk antara Masjid, Surau dan KRT, Pertandingan
Azan Kanak-kanak, Jualan Amal Rendang dan Ketupat, Pesta Mengacau Dodol dan juga
Majilis Berbuka Puasa bersama anak-anak yatim dan warga emas.
Sambutan yang meriah daripada komuniti Senai dan Kulaijaya di mana 15 kumpulan
telah mendaftar untuk mengambil bahagian dalam pertandingan ini. Acara ini bermula
seawal 9 pagi sehingga 4 petang dengan kesemua 2,000 bungkusan bubur lambuk
diagihkan kepada umum terutamanya pengunjung IOI Mall pada jam 5 petang.
Pemenang pertama bagi Pertandingan Memasak Bubur Lambuk buat tahun ini
disandang oleh KRT Zon A Taman Wawasan, membawa pulang wang tunai sebanyak
RM1,000, hamper ADABI, trofi serta sijil penyertaan. Tempat kedua pula dimenangi
oleh KRT Zon Jalan Matahari, membawa pulang wang tunai bernilai RM800, hamper
ADABI, trofi dan sijil penyertaan. Manakala tempat ketiga dimenangi oleh KRT Jalan
Tiong, menerima wang tunai berjumlah RM600, hamper ADABI, trofi dan sijil penyertaan.
Four consolation prizes went to KRT Taman Desa Idaman, Perkumpulan Wanita
Malaysia Batu 21, KRT Jati and Masjid Ar-Rahman. They received RM300 in cash
each and certificates of participation. In addition, IOI Mall also organised a
Charity Sale of Rendang, Ketupat and Dodol Durian and the proceeds were
channelled to the orphanages and old folks organisations.
The Majlis Berbuka Puasa was officiated by Mr. Indra Shahril bin Ali from Majlis
Agama Islam Daerah Kulaijaya. This Ramadan event highlight was celebrated
with 50 old folks and residents from orphanages. Each guest received duit raya
and goody bags with compliments from IOI Mall and our sponsors partners.
AMBANG MERDEKA
COUNTDOWN
“Sehati Sejiwa”, the spirit of one heart one soul has united
us for the celebration of 58th National Day. On 31st August
2015, in conjunction with the National Day, IOI organised
a series of activities in collaboration with Pejabat Daerah
Kulai during the Ambang Merdeka countdown. This
meaningful event was held at IOI Mall parking yard, from
9 pm until 12 am, and it created a perfect platform for the
community from Kulai district to share the moment of
solidarity.
The event aimed to spread awareness towards the younger
generation about the hardships and historical moments
during the proclamation of Independence Day achieved
58 years ago. Youngsters and children enjoyed the celebration
held in a relaxing atmosphere.
This meaningful charity event aimed to strengthen IOI Mall relationship with all
communities as well as contribute to the underprivileged community.
4 pemenang saguhati, KRT Taman Desa Idaman, Perkumpulan Wanita Malaysia Batu
21, KRT Jati Dan Masjid Ar-Rahman turut mendapat hadiah saguhati. Setiap kumpulan
membawa pulang wang tunai bernilai RM300 dan sijil penyertaan. Pada masa yang
sama, IOI Mall turut menganjurkan Jualan Amal Rendang, Ketupat dan Dodol Durian,
dengan jumlah wang jualan disalurkan kepada organisasi anak-anak yatim dan warga
emas.
Acara kemuncak, Majlis Berbuka Puasa dirasmikan oleh Encik Indra Sharil bin Ali,
pegawai Majlis Agama Daerah Kulaijaya. Pihak IOI Mall dan rakan penaja meraikan
majlis tersebut bersama 50 anak-anak yatim dan warga emas dengan pemberian duit
raya dan goodies bag.

Datuk Haji Abd Latiff bin Haji Bandi as a VIP of the event,
the event was also attended by Head of Department and
staff from Pejabat Daerah Kulai, and IOI Mall Complex
Manager, Mr. Raymond Koo. YB Datuk Haji Abd Latiff bin
Haji Bandi then also officiated the “Johor Free Wifi” Kulai
district. Thanks to such efforts, a few hot spots have been
set up to provide FREE WiFi connection to the Kulai residents.
Mawi and Nick Chung were invited as guest artistes to
performed during the celebration with each of them
singing two songs. The event also offered unforgettable
multi-cultural dance performances from Persatuan Penggiat
Zapin Negeri Johor (Malay dance), Adelina Dance (Chinese
dance) and Sivananjali Fine Arts (Indian dance). All “colourful”
performances delighted the visitors during the event.
At 11.40 pm, the VIPs and guests were invited to stand on
the stage for the Ambang Merdeka countdown. 150 cyclists
from Orang Johor Cycling Team and 50 bikers from Putra
Bikers, beelined in front of the stage holding the Malaysia
flag, symbolic of National Day. At 12.00 am the emcees
chanted “Merdeka” seven times together with all visitors,
to conclude the celebrations and to mark our 58th National Day.

Mall selain memupuk kesedaran terhadap komuniti yang kurang bernasib baik.

Acara larian ini diadakan di sekitar Bandar Putra. Para
peserta dibahagikan kepada 7 kumpulan mengikut
umur dan laluan larian. Kategori Lelaki Terbuka, Wanita
Terbuka, Lelaki Veteran dan Lelaki Junior berlari sepanjang
10 km. Manakala Wanita Veteran, Perempuan Junior dan
Kategori Keluarga berlari sepanjang 4.5 km. Bayaran
masuk yang dikenakan adalah RM10 untuk Kategori
Terbuka dan Veteran, RM5 bagi kategori Junior dan RM20
untuk Kategori Keluarga.
22nd August 2015, IOI Bandar Putra, Kulai
All sports enthusiasts and runners geared up and
arrived at IOI Mall Bandar Putra Kulai around 6.30 am
for the Putra Charity Run 2015. The Run was officially
flagged off by Mr Foo Kim Guan, Councillor of Kulai on
behalf of Tuan Haji Abdul Rahman Bin Salleh, the Yang
Dipertua of Kulai Municipal Council.
The annual Run took place around the vicinity of
Bandar Putra and all participants were categorised into
7 groups by age and route. The Male Open Category,
Female Open Category, Male Veteran and Male Junior
ran the 10km route. The Female Veteran, Female Junior
and Family Category ran the 4.5km route. Entry fees
were charged at RM10 for Open and Veteran categories,
RM5 for Junior categories and RM20 for Family category.
Peserta larian tiba di IOI Mall Bandar Putra Kulai sekitar
jam 6.30 pagi dan bersedia untuk acara larian yang
bermula pada jam 7.00 pagi. Encik Foo Kim Guan, ahli
Majlis Perbandaran Kulai mewakili Tuan Haji Abdul
Rahman bin Salleh, Yang Dipertua Majlis Perbandaran
Kulai bagi merasmikan acara larian ini.
Tahun ini, acara Larian Amal Putra diadakan bertepatan
dengan Sambutan Hari Kemerdekaan dan jalur gemilang
menghiasi acara dan pakaian keseluruhan acara
tersebut. Goodies bag diberikan kepada para peserta
selepas acara larian. Pingat turut dihadiahkan kepada
100 peserta pertama setiap kategori. Kebanyakan
peserta terdiri daripada penduduk di sekitar Kulai.
Terdapat juga peserta yang datang dari Johor Bahru,
Batu Pahat dan Seremban. Organisasi seperti Southern
Lion Sdn Bhd dan IOI Loders Croklaan tidak ketinggalan
menghantar pekerja mereka untuk menyertai acara
larian ini setiap tahun.
Running along Lebuh Putra Utama
This year, the Putra Charity Run 2015 coincided with
Merdeka Celebrations and the colours of Jalur Gemilang
were prominent in the decorations and participants’
running gear. Goody bags were given away to all
participants after the race. The first 100 participants
who finished the Run were rewarded with a Medal.
Participants comprised mainly of residents living in Kulai,
whilst others came all the way from Johor Bahru, Batu
Pahat and Seremban. The Run received continuas support
from organisations like Southern Lion Sdn Bhd & IOI
Loders Croklaan who have been faithfully sending their
employees every year to join the Run.
Pengumpulan dana adalah objektif utama larian ini.
Jumlah dana sebanyak RM70,000 telah dikutip daripada
3,500 penyertaan dan tajaan rakan korporat. Wang yang
dikumpul ini disalurkan kepada Persatuan Penjagaan
Kanak-kanak Terencat Akal Johor Bahru yang mempunyai
Pusat Jagaan di Taman Saleng Indah, Senai. Pusat Jagaan
ini merupakan tempat kediaman bagi 230 orang yang
kurang upaya atau terencat akal.
Fund raising is one of the Run’s main objectives. The
collected entry fees were channelled to Handicapped
and Mentally Disabled Children Association of Johor
Bahru at Taman Saleng Indah in Senai, home to 230
handicapped and mentally disabled children. The
amount raised for this event is RM70,000 thanks to our
corporate sponsors and 3,800 Run registrants.
Winner of Female Junior Category, 13 year old, Ainur Shafiqah Azmi
Pemberian pingat dan cek diadakan pada jam 9.15 pagi
dan disampaikan oleh Tuan Mohad Idris bin Samsuri,
Timbalan Ketua Polis Daerah Kulai. Beliau juga turut
menyampaikan pingat kepada kategori terbuka. Encik
R.Segar, Penyelia Pusat Jagaan Persatuan Penjagaan
Kanak-Kanak Terencat Akal mewakili pusat jagaan bagi
menerima cek tersebut.
Salah satu acara kemuncak Larian Amal Putra 2015
adalah sesi Cabutan Bertuah yang diadakan selepas
majlis penyampaian cek. Para peserta tidak melepaskan
peluang untuk memenangi hadiah-hadiah menarik
seperti basikal, produk Tupperware, barang elektrik, baucer
membeli-belah dan penginapan hotel.
The medal giveaway and mock cheque presentation
was held at 9.15 am. amidst much cheering and
applause. The Kulai Deputy Chief Police Officer, Tuan
Mohad Idris Bin Samsuri, witnessed the mock cheque
presentation. He also presented the medals to the
Open Categories. Mr R.Segar, Coordinator of the
Handicapped and Mentally Disabled Children Association
represented the Association to receive the mock cheque.
One of the main highlights of Putra Charity Run 2015
was the Lucky Draw Session held after the mock-cheque
presentation. All participants grabbed the opportunity
to win attractive prizes such as bicycles, Tupperware
products, electrical items, shopping vouchers and hotel
staycations.

organisation in 1992 in Kuala Lumpur.
Specialising in art, craft and musical
programmes, the organisation aimed
to provide an out of school
environment, where everyone can
“Learn & Play Through Creativity”.
Themed “Inspiration, Creative, Fun
and Learning”, the organisation targeted
teachers and students from secondary,
primary to kindergarten.
On the 2nd year of establishment,
Teddy Town & Soapz Factory expanded
and reached out to groups from
other states such as Johor, Melaka,
Negeri Sembilan, Penang, Pahang,
Kelantan and Terengganu. In 2008,
Teddy Town & Soapz Factory opened
its door to bigger audiences. Since
then, the organisation has built a
good reputation and excellent track
record among schools in Malaysia.
Having set a solid foundation, Teddy
Town & Soapz Factory opened a new
branch at Bandar Putra, Johor to
share experiential learning through
art, craft and music.
Each workshop requires 2½ to 3 hours
with a minimum of 35 participants
per session. The session includes full

hands-on making teddy bear and
