INTRODUCTION
The 68th Cannes Festival presents a selection of
UK films and film talent in its 2015 edition. This
Catalogue includes details of all UK productions
and official co-productions screening across
the various Cannes sections. It also highlights
some of the other titles screening which are
not official co-productions but which have
significant British elements.
It is divided into the following sections:
1. UK Film - Cannes Features and Shorts
screening in the Official Selection including
Competition, Un Certain Regard, Out of
Competition, Midnight Screenings, Special
Screenings, Short Films Competition,
Cinéfondation Shorts Selection and the parallel
sections Cannes Classics, Directors Fortnight
and Critics Week.
2. UK Film On Release - an overview of
UK feature films which have premiered at
international film festivals or been on UK release
over the past year but which are still available
for international Festival selection.
This catalogue has been compiled by the
British Council, one of a number of key UK Film
organisations represented in Cannes under the
single umbrella of WE ARE UK FILM. A grouping
of UK film commissions, national and regional
agencies and sales companies, together we
provide clear information about our outstanding
locations, services, films and talent, and
we represent the UK Film industry enabling
connections with both national and international
partners.
The British Council, whose film team acts as a
link between UK films and filmmakers and new
international audiences, works with a range of
programme selector teams from the world’s
premier international film festivals, including
the teams from Cannes, to arrange preview
screenings of the best new British films.
Find out more about the UK industry at
www.WEAREUKFILM.com
3. UK Film Coming Soon - a short selection of
films designed to give a flavour of some of the
titles that will be available for Festival selection
over the coming 12 months.
You can view a more complete list of titles
currently in production, as well as full details
of all completed shorts and features in the
British Films Directory, compiled by the
British Council, as well as further directories

Amy
Carol
Synopsis
From BAFTA award-winning director Asif Kapadia
(Senna), ‘Amy’ tells the incredible story of six-time
Grammy-winner Amy Winehouse - in her own words.
Employing extensive unseen archive footage, this
modern and moving film shines a light on the world
we live in.
Synopsis
Set in 1950s New York, two women from very
different backgrounds find themselves in the throes
of love in ‘Carol’. As conventional norms of the time
challenge their undeniable attraction, an honest
story emerges to reveal the resilience of the heart
in the face of change.
A once-in-a-generation talent, Amy Winehouse
instantly captured the world’s attention. A pure
jazz artist in the most authentic sense - she wrote
and sung from the heart using her musical gifts to
analyse her own problems. The combination of her
raw honesty and supreme talent resulted in some of
the most unique and adored songs of modern era.
Tragically, relentless media attention coupled with
Amy’s troubled relationships, her global success
and precarious lifestyle saw her life fall apart. As
a society, we celebrated her huge successes but
were quick to judge her failings when it suited us.
The talent that was initially her salvation eventually
became the trigger for her disintegration. Amy
Winehouse died from alcohol poisoning in July 2011
at the age of 27.
A young woman in her 20s, Therese Belivet is a
clerk working in a Manhattan department store and
dreaming of a more fulfilling life when she meets
Carol, an alluring woman trapped in a loveless,
convenient marriage. As an immediate connection
sparks between them, the innocence of their first
encounter dims and their connection deepens.

Cemetery of Splendour
(Rak Ti Khon Kaen)
The Lobster
Synopsis
Synopsis
In Khon Kaen a lonesome middle-aged housewife
tends a soldier with sleeping sickness and falls
into a hallucination that triggers strangedreams,
phantoms, and romance.
A love story set in the near future where single
people, according to the rules of The City, are
arrested and transferred to The Hotel. There they
are obliged to find a matching mate in 45 days.
If they fail, they are transformed into an animal
of their choosing and released into The Woods.
A desperate Man escapes from The Hotel to The
Woods where The Loners live and falls in love,
although it is against their rules.
“I write this film as a rumination on Thailand, a
feverish nation. It will be the first film that takes
place entirely in my hometown, Khon Kaen. It’s also
a very personal portrait of the places that have
latched onto me like parasites - the elementary
school, the hospital, the library, the lake. Like the
sleepers in this film, I shun the malady of reality,
and together we take refuge in dreams of forever.”

Macbeth
Steve McQueen:
The Man and Le Mans
Synopsis
‘Macbeth’ is the story of a fearless warrior and
inspiring leader brought low by ambition and
desire. A thrilling interpretation of the dramatic
realities of the times and a reimagining of
what wartime must have been like for one of
Shakespeare’s most famous and compelling
characters, a story of all-consuming passion and
ambition, set in a war torn Scottish landscape.
Synopsis
By 1970, Steve McQueen ruled Hollywood. Hot off
the back of classics like ‘The Thomas Crown Affair’
and ‘Bullitt’ he could now make the movie that was
his life’s passion: McQueen’s experience on ‘Le
Mans’ changed his life forever.

Tale of Tales
(Il racconto dei racconti)
Youth
(La giovinezza)
Synopsis
Synopsis
Based on an early 17th century collection of fairy
tales by Neopolitan author Giambattista Basile,
the film weaves realistic and fantastical elements
together in a dark exploration of classic tales.
Springtime. Fred and Mick, two old friends now
approaching eighty, are on vacation together in
an elegant hotel at the foot of the Alps. Fred, a
composer and conductor, is now retired. Mick, a film
director, is still working. The two friends know that
their time is quickly running out, and they decide to
face their future together. They look with curiosity
and tenderness on their children’s confused lives,
Mick’s enthusiastic young writers, and the other
hotel guests, all of whom, it seems, have all the time
that they lack. And while Mick scrambles to finish
the screenplay for what he imagines will be his last
important film, Fred, who gave up his musical career
long ago, has no intention of returning to it. But
someone wants at all costs to hear his compositions
and to see him conduct again.
From the bitter quest of a jealous Queen, to an
Ogre thwarting the love of a young princess, to
a mysterious woman provoking the passion of a
King, these stories weave the beautiful with the
grotesque, creating a stunning and unique work of
gothic imagination.

Attacking The Devil: Harold Evans
and the Last Nazi War Crime
Synopsis
Synopsis
808 is a documentary film about the inspiring
story of the Roland TR-808 drum machine. It’s the
tale of the birth of electronic music, and how one
small machine changed the musical landscape
forever... by accident. It’s the story of a sound that
has been embraced by the world’s top producers
and performers, and has been name-checked
on a whole host of hit records. Associated with
numerous musical styles crossing both time and
genre, its defining sounds are as relevant now
as they ever have been. It defined hip hop and
modern dance culture and its sound continues to
deliver dancefloor-smashing beats today.
As editor of The Sunday Times for fourteen years,
Sir Harold Evans proved to be the right man in the
right place at the right time. In an investigative
climate all too rare by today’s standards, Evans
had the freedom and resources to allow teams of
journalists to work on long-term projects, including
the exposure of Kim Philby as a Soviet spy. Evans’
longest and most hard fought campaign was for
the victims of Thalidomide. Originally developed by
the Germans in World War II to counter effect sarin
gas, post-war the drug was blithely prescribed by
British doctors as an antidote to morning sickness,
unwittingly leading to tens of thousands of children
being born with serious defects. The Sunday Times’
fight to win compensation for their struggling
families would take more than a decade, as Evans
tenaciously pursued the drug companies through
the English courts and beyond.

Brand: A Second Coming
Brooklyn
Synopsis
Synopsis
‘Brand: A Second Coming’ follows comedian/
author/activist Russell Brand as he dives headlong
into drugs, sex and fame in an attempt to find
happiness, only to realize we have all been
nurtured on bad ideas and empty celebrity idols.
Brand leaves Los Angeles to embark on a stand-up
comedy tour about his own true icons - Gandhi,
Che Guevara, Malcolm X and Jesus Christ - and
transforms from addict and Hollywood star into an
unexpected political disruptor and new found hero
to the undeserved.
All Nora has to look forward to if she stays in 1950s
Ireland are slick-haired rugby players, selling
cigarettes one at a time at the local shop, and bad
weather. So when a kindly priest, Father Flood,
sponsors her to go to America, she packs her
meagre belongings and heads to Brooklyn.

Chuck Norris vs Communism
Cinderella
Synopsis
Synopsis
In 1980s Romania, thousands of Western films
smashed through the Iron Curtain opening a
window into the free world for those who dared
to look. A black market VHS racketeer and a
courageous female translator brought the magic
of film to the masses and sowed the seeds of a
revolution.
The story of Cinderella follows the fortunes of
young Ella whose father remarries following the
tragic death of her mother. When Ella’s father
suddenly and unexpectedly passes away, she
finds herself at the mercy of a jealous and cruel
stepmother and stepsisters... But, when the Palace
sends out an open invitation for all maidens to
attend a royal ball, might her fortunes begin to
change? Will she go to the ball? Well, as in all
good fairy tales, help is at hand as a kindly beggar
woman steps forward, armed with a pumpkin and a
few mice, and changes her life forever.

Disaster Playground
Synopsis
Synopsis
An inspirational and occasionally heart-stopping
true story of a group of friends from a working
men’s club in Wales who decide to take on the elite
‘sport of kings’ and breed themselves a racehorse.
Against all the odds, their young foal, raised on
nearby waste-land, goes on to become a champion.
Until one day disaster strikes…
Hollywood relies on Bruce Willis to save the world
in Armageddon, but who are the real-life heroes
seeking to save our civilization from the next major
asteroid impact? Disaster Playground investigates
future outer space catastrophes and the
procedures to manage and assess the risks. The
film follows the scientists planning the monitoring
and deflection of hazardous Near Earth Objects
and the real-life procedures in place in the event
of an asteroid collision with the earth. Follow the
chain of command that runs from the SETI Institute
and NASA to the White House and United Nations
and meet the people who are responsible from
protecting us from a potentially devastating

The Ecstasy of Wilko Johnson
Electricity
Synopsis
Synopsis
‘The Ecstasy of Wilko Johnson’ confronts our
worst nightmares of impending death and turns
them upside down. It tells the extraordinary,
yet universal story of legendary musician Wilko
Johnson who, diagnosed with pancreatic cancer
and given a few months to live, accepted his fate
with uplifting positivity and embarked on a farewell
tour, capturing the imagination of the world as
he went. But like every good story Wilko’s has
a damn fine twist in its tail. Two years later and
confounding the odds, Wilko wakes up in a hospital
bed, unexpectedly sentenced to live, having now
to integrate those enlightened lessons learnt
under sentence of death into the unexpected and
ongoing future of his life.
When Lily O’Connor, a witty, sexy, searingly defiant
Northerner with temporal lobe epilepsy and a
traumatic past finds out that the brother she’s
long thought dead could still be alive, she risks
her life to go in search of him. An extraordinary
hallucinatory journey, an “Alice In Wonderland”
story for the modern day.

Hadwin’s Judgement
The Hallow
1st
Synopsis
The film chronicles the tormented transformation
of Grant Hadwin from expert logger to
environmental terrorist, a man who dared to
challenge the destruction of the world’s last great
temperate rainforest. Hadwin’s one-man crusade
culminated in a perverse and outrageous act of
protest that was, in itself, a crime against nature.

Hide and Seek
Hockney
1st
Synopsis
Synopsis
Four young people flee from London and set up a
polyamorous commune in the country- choosing
total isolation as an opportunity for an emotional,
intellectual, and political hiding place. Strange
rules and rituals help to loosen their inhibitions as,
fighting cynicism and ghosts from the past, they
move towards a deeply unconventional joy.
A portrait of one of Britain’s most beloved artists,
David Hockney, with revealing contributions from
Hockney himself and his friends and colleagues.
“It’s been said that there was something of
the holiday about David Hockney, that, despite
personal loss, he sees the world with holiday eyes,
as if for the first time. I wanted to capture this
attitude without taking away the mystery and magic
of a great artist.” Randall Wright

I Am Belfast
Synopsis
Synopsis
Michael Doyle is an anti-hero for our times: a
natural predator and a complex mix of highfunctioning addict and corrupt police officer,
always one step ahead of the law. As an influx of
ruthless, power-hungry Albanian gangsters makes
its bloody mark on London’s criminal landscape,
Michael’s once assured grip starts to fail and his
self-destructive behaviour begins to consume him.
“Belfast, it’s a city that is changing, changing
because the people are leaving? But one came
back, a 10,000 year old woman who claims that she
is the city itself.” A unique film about an infamous
place, with this 10,000 year old woman as our free
spirited walking tour guide. Starting in the here and
now, with the everyday, we move on to the dream
life of the city, mapping the voices of women and
the liminal spaces, the unnoticed and the unloved
things about this place. But she also looks back and
she sees the tragedy and the horror of what went
before. She remembers everything…

The Knife That Killed Me
1st
1st
Synopsis
The tragic tale of sixteen-year-old Paul
Varderman’s downward spiral into knife crime. We
learn of Paul’s untimely death at the beginning of
the film and are then taken on a journey through
Paul’s memories as he tries to make sense of how
he came to be involved with Roth and his gang,
and how he came to be in possession of the knife,
the knife that killed him. Fear is the overriding
emotion in the coarse, graffiti littered playground
for Paul and his peers; fear of not fitting in, fear
of being misunderstood and worst of all, fear of
appearing afraid. This compelling story is brought
to life in a truly original fashion - 100% CGI, with a
unique and innovative visual style.

Life May Be
A Little Chaos
Synopsis
Synopsis
An epistolary feature film: a cinematic discourse
between a British director Mark Cousins (the
celebrated film maker and historian) and an Iranian
actress and director Mania Akbari (famed for her
work with Abbas Kiarostami and in her own right
as a director) which extends the concept of “essay
film” with startling confrontations in the arenas of
cultural issues, gender politics and differing artistic
sensibilities.
A female landscape gardener is awarded the
esteemed assignment to construct the grand
gardens at Versailles, a gilt-edged position which
thrusts her to the very centre of the court of King
Louis XIV. Can she overcome the challenges of this
new and complex world, and the ghosts of her own
past tragedy, to secure a future with the man she
loves?
A unique journey into the minds of two exceptional
filmmakers which becomes a love affair on film.

In 1947, Sherlock Holmes, long-retired, lives in a
sleepy Sussex village with his housekeeper and
her amateur-sleuthing son. But far from living out a
peaceful retirement, he is haunted by an unsolved
case from 50 years ago. He remembers only
fragments: a confrontation with an angry husband,
a secret bond with his beautiful but unstable wife.
With his legendary mental powers on the wane, and
without his old sidekick Watson, Holmes is faced with
the toughest case of his life - a case that might finally
reveal to him the mysteries of the human heart.

Synopsis
‘My Accomplice’ is an off-beat comedy about falling
in love, set in Brighton, featuring songs and live
performances from local bands Transformer, Bob
Wants His Head Back and The Mountain Firework
Company. An ill-starred search for the village of
Wivelsfield, the personal politics of perestroika
in the wider context of David Hasselhoff, apricot
flapjacks, abruptly unpredictable weather,
gathering evidence of a seagull conspiracy, and a
small cast of everyday eccentrics that usually don’t
make it into films: Bulgarians, adults with learning
disabilities, very tall women and elective mutes. In
a city of this many vulnerable adults, Frank and Ilse
might never have met.

Orion: The Man Who Would
Be King
Synopsis
Synopsis
A father and son live a reclusive lifestyle in the
middle of nowhere. The man, a disillusioned
mercenary, has his final target in sight - a gang
of foreign revolutionaries who lay low in a nearby
derelict compound. As the man closes in on his
target the boy falls for the revolutionaries’ serving
girl. Having spent his whole life in isolation the boy
now discovers the warmth of friendship and the
pleasures of something more. As father and son
collide the boy is sent running, running in pain and
full of betrayal, straight into the twisted embittered
arms of the boy’s maternal grandparents, who have
come to snatch and save the boy. Figuring out what
is right and wrong, what is good and bad is a task
for both the man and the audience.
Millions of Americans clung to the hope that Elvis
Presley faked his death. For the executives at Sun
Records that fantasy became an opportunity in the
form of Orion, a mysterious masked performer with
the voice of The King. But who was the man behind
the mask? Jimmy Ellis, a singer was plucked from
obscurity in 1978 and given a fictional identity,
signed to Sun Records and thrust into the spotlight as
part of the crazy scheme that had him masquerade
as Elvis back from the grave. With an outlandish
fictional identity torn from the pages of a pulp novel,
the backing of the legendary birthplace of rock
‘n’ roll, Sun Records, and a voice that seemed to
be the very twin of Presley’s himself, the scheme
– concocted in the months after Presley’s death,
exploded into a cult success – and the “Elvis is alive”
myth began. This is the story behind that story. Who
was that masked man?

Palio
Synopsis
The comic misadventures of a young marmaladeloving Peruvian bear with a passion for all things
British, who travels to London in search of a home.
He is discovered at Paddington Station by the kindly
Brown family, who read the label around his neck
“Please look after this bear. Thank you.”
Synopsis
The Palio horserace in Siena isn’t a matter of life or
death... It’s much more important than that. Twice
a year the Italian city of Siena goes crazy for the
oldest horse race in the world: the Palio. Not your
average race: strategy, bribery and corruption play
as much a part as the skill of the riders.
Sofia International Film Festival 2015 - International

‘Palio’ explores the thrilling story of a rivalry
between a young ‘outsider’ keen to break in to
a dangerous but lucrative game and the corrupt
‘insider’ who has manipulated the city of Siena for a
decade. Their passionate and dramatic battle is an
epic and cinematic tale of Italian life in microcosm.

A Practical Guide to a
Spectacular Suicide
1st
Synopsis
Synopsis
The planet is in crisis. The problems we are facing at
this crucial moment are deeper than climate change
or social inequality – the fundamental cause lies
in the way we see the world. ‘Planetary’ presents
a stunning visual portrait of our Earth, taking us
on a journey across continents: from the African
savannah to the Himalayas, and from the heart of
Tokyo to the view of our fragile planet from orbit.
Through intimate interviews with a diversity of
people, from NASA astronauts and environmentalists
to philosophers and Tibetan lamas, the film shows
that the solution to transforming our civilisation
lies in an understanding that all life is inseparably
interconnected, and that we cannot change the
world unless we change the way we see ourselves,
the world, and the wider cosmos we are embedded
within.
A feel-good film about suicide! After many failed
attempts at suicide, twenty-something Tom comes
to the conclusion that he needs to think outside
the box. He plans out the spectacular suicide.
We follow Tom as he comes to grips with his
reasons for his self-destructive nature, develops
relationships with those around him and struggles
to come up with the Spectacular Suicide.

Spooks: The Greater Good
Stand By For Tape Back-Up
1st
Synopsis
Synopsis
When a terrorist escapes custody during a routine
handover, Will Crombie must team with disgraced
MI5 Intelligence Chief Harry Pearce to track him
down before an imminent terrorist attack on London.
Following the death of his grandfather, poet
Ross Sutherland discovered an old videotape in
his loft. On the tape were all the things they’d
watched together: one-and-a-half films, a quiz show
segment, and two sitcoms. Somehow they became
the story of his life.

Inspired by the 1980s stoner mainstay of matching
up ‘The Wizard of Oz’ with Pink Floyd’s album The
Dark Side of the Moon, Ross draws out a series of
stories from his life, synchronising them with the
images on the tape. In the process, fragments of
old films and TV shows are looped, destroyed, and
re-built into an audiovisual meditation on memory,
death and re-runs.

The Theory of Everything
They Will Have To Kill Us First
Synopsis
The story of the relationship between the famous
physicist Stephen Hawking and his first wife Jane.
Synopsis
In 2012, jihadists took control of northern Mali. They
imposed one of the strictest interpretations of sharia
law in history. On 12 August they banned music –
radio stations destroyed, instruments burned and
Mali’s musicians faced torture, even death. This film
follows Mali’s musicians as they fight to keep music
alive in their country. Through personal stories
we draw the audience into the human side of this
ongoing conflict and ask the burning question: what
does the future hold for Mali? The film culminates
with the first public concert in Timbuktu post jihadist
takeover and music ban.

Absolutely Anything
American Honey

Synopsis
Neil Clarke, a schoolteacher, suddenly discovers
he has magical powers. In fact, with the wave of his
hand, he can make absolutely anything happen.
From wiping out a particularly disruptive class (and
then bringing them back to life), to turning his best
mate into the kind of man women would not only die
for, but would worship to the ends of the earth and
back. The only snag is getting the words right and, of
course, knowing what he really wants.

Bill
The Boombox Project
Synopsis
Synopsis
Bill tells the story of how hopeless lute player Bill
Shakespeare leaves his family and home to follow
his dream. It’s a tale of murderous kings, spies, lost
loves, and a plot to blow up Queen Elizabeth. Can
one man prove the quill is mightier than the sword?
Drawing inspiration from Lyle Owerko’s 2010 book
‘The Boombox Project: The Machines, the Music,
and the Urban Underground’ the documentary
explores how an iconic piece of machinery helped
shape music and society on both sides of the
Atlantic in the ’70s and ’80s, and examines its place
in the rise of hip-hop and punk.

Synopsis
What started as a home movie became a committed
project when Josh and Devorah found themselves
unable to conceive. An endearing if ironic journey
gets serious when life-threatening complications
emerge. Their relationship is tested to the brink as
they confront birth, death, love and loss all at once.
A creative documentary about becoming a parent...
and how to reconceive yourself. Fiction director
Josh Appignanesi turns the camera on himself and
his wife as they undergo the ordeal of becoming
parents in the era of man-children and assisted
reproduction. Faced with fatherhood, Josh spirals
comically into an envious career funk. But lifethreatening complications emerge - the couple are
tested to the brink, confronting shattering losses.
It’s a portrait of our generation going through a
revolution in reproduction - forced to find new ways
to think about ourselves as creative beings. We
hear from Slavoj Zizek, John Berger, Darian Leader
(20,000 Days) and Zadie Smith. Universal yet still
taboo, it’s a film for everyone who has children,
wants them, or still feels like a child themselves.

world’s highest mountain, ‘Everest’ documents the
awe-inspiring journey of two different expeditions

Tottenham, London. This incident ignited a riot that
escalated into a week of the worst civil unrest in

Scotland, on his annual pilgrimage to a temporary
Christmas shelter in London where he finds comfort,
friendship and warmth. Over the course of his
homeric journey, Hector decides to reconnect with
his long estranged past. As his previous life catches

High-Rise
A Hundred Streets
1st
In Post-production
Synopsis
Synopsis
Based on the novel by J. G. Ballard - London, 1975.
A slick apartment tower rises above the Thames,
the beginnings of what will soon become the world’s
biggest financial hub. Dominating the landscape, it is
simply called the HIGH-RISE... its address a mark of
exclusivity.
Four people, four extraordinary stories. All lived out
within a hundred London streets.
Its newest resident is Robert Laing, an ambitious
young doctor utterly seduced by the lifestyle and
cutting-edge technology the high-rise has to offer.
He is introduced to the seedy underbelly of the highrise by Wilder, a charismatic provocateur. The cracks
in this apparently flawless society grow rapidly,
and Laing is shocked at the depravity he sees. Life
in the high-rise quickly descends into madness
and violence, and Laing finds himself amongst the
marauding hordes of bloodthirsty tenants who take
over the building, floor by floor.

Kill Your Friends
The Lady in the Van
1st
Synopsis
When the road to success is littered with losers
and even your closest colleagues are desperate
for you to fail, what would you do to make it to the
top? London, 1997; the British music industry is on a
winning streak. Britpop bands Blur, Oasis, The Verve
rule the airwaves and Cool Britannia is in full swing.
27-year-old A&R man Steven Stelfox is slashing and
burning his way through the music business, a world
where ‘no one knows anything’ and where careers
are made and broken by chance and the fickle tastes
of the general public. Fuelled by greed, ambition and
inhuman quantities of drugs, Stelfox lives the dream,
as he searches for his next hit record. But as the hits
dry up and the industry begins to change, Stelfox
takes the concept of “killer tunes” to a murderous
new level in a desperate attempt to salvage his
career.

Sunset Song
Synopsis
Synopsis
The story of the foot soldiers of the early feminist
movement - women who were forced underground
to pursue a dangerous game of cat and mouse with
an increasingly brutal state.
Set in the early 20th century, ‘Sunset Song’ begins
with the suicide attempt of a poverty stricken
woman in Scotland, broken by repeated childbirths,
who kills herself and poisons her twin babies.
The story follows one of the woman’s surviving
daughters, Chris Guthrie, who must manage the
farm after her mother’s death, and, after her
father, who has had a stroke, becomes bedridden.
But when love comes to Chris she must send her
man off to the Great War and manage the farm in
a land about to be changed forever by the onset
of technology and war. How can we bear time, or
subdue nature? We cannot. We can only endure...

Synopsis
Synopsis
A British film crew attempts to boost morale during
World War II by making a propaganda film after the
Blitzkrieg. A screwball and yet moving portrait of the
topsy turvy world of wartime London.
One fateful night, troubled teenager Kelly sneaks
into her boyfriend Mark’s house to deliver some
sobering news: she’s pregnant. With the skills she’s
learnt as a gymnast, Kelly deftly creeps across the
garden and clambers up the drainpipes without
waking his disapproving parents. But tonight, she’s
not the only unwelcome visitor: an armed gang
breaks in. Mark’s father Doug manages a bank and
the gang plan on using Doug’s help to carry out a
daring heist using his captive family as leverage.
Based on the novel by Lissa Evans.

Nineteen years ago Saar finally admitted to his
conservative and religious family in Israel that he
was gay and worse still – no longer believed in
God. Expelled from the kibbutz he had grown up
in, and rejected by his family, Saar fled to London
where he attempted to build a new life. But when
he is diagnosed with HIV his world falls apart and
he decides to fulfil a lifelong ambition and joins
the London Gay Mens Chorus. With the support
of his new found brothers-in-arms he starts a
reconciliation process with his family back in Israel.
But he soon finds himself having to choose between
his London family and the family he left behind.
