The outlets are UL listed, CSA certified, and are fully compliant with the latest edition of NFPA 99. All outlets are 100% tested for flow, leaks and connector attachment. The outlets are cleaned for oxygen service in the manufacturing process. The outlets are made in the U.S.A. Gas service identification is affixed to the inlet tube and the face of the rough-in plate. A secondary valve is installed in the outlet block of the rough-in assembly (except vacuum and WAGD) for both pressure testing and preventing gas flow when the latch valve assembly is removed for service. Outlet Design A complete medical gas outlet consists of a gas specific rough-in assembly for installation before the wall or console is completed. A matching gas specific latch valve assembly and trim plate are installed after the finish is complete. Latch Valve Assembly The latch valve assembly includes a captured o-ring seal primary valve, is gas specific for the labeled service, and accepts only hose and apparatus with corresponding latchkeyed adapters. The latch valve assembly is indexed to the corresponding rough in assembly to avoid accidental cross connection and self adjusts up to 3/4" (1.9 cm) to allow for variation in finished wall thickness from 1/2" (12.5 mm) up to 1-1/4" (3.175 cm). The outlet block contains a double seal to prevent gas leakage between the rough-in and latch valve assemblies after the wall is finished. Outlets using a single o-ring seal are not acceptable. Rough-in Assembly The rough-in assembly is of modular design and includes a gas specific 16 gauge steel mounting plate. Wall versions permit on site ganging of multiple outlets, in any order, on 5" (12.7cm) centerline spacing. A 3/8" (9.5 mm) high metal flange around the outlet opening provides a plaster barrier. A temporary cover is provided to keep debris out of the outlet during installation. Console rough-ins fit standard electrical box cutouts and screw locations. Trim Options Either a die cast, light gray, epoxy powder-coated trim plate or a smaller plastic trim plate can be provided to trim each outlet. The die cast plate is designed specifically to fill the space between adjacent outlets. Either trim plate allows latch valves to be individually removed for servicing. A machined brass outlet block is permanently attached to the rough-in plate to permit the 1/2" OD (3/8" nominal), type K copper inlet tube to swivel 360° for attachment to the piping system. The alarm is ETL listed to UL 1069 and CSA C22.2 NO 601.1-M90. The MEGA2® complies with the following electromagnetic compatibility standards: FCC Part 15 Class A, ICES 003 Class A, EN 61326, EN 61000-3-2 and EN 61000-3-3. All field wiring and signals are self-monitoring and on a closed circuit. Fault signals activate on an open circuit. Each digital display module is equipped with separate relays for high and low alarms. Relays are single-pole doublethrow type (30 VAC/VDC 2A max). Digital readings from one display module can be monitored by another digital display module at a remote panel. Input power to the alarm panel is 100 to 250 VAC 50/60 Hz, double fused on the input side rated at 1 Amp, time-delayed. An internal power supply converts the input voltage to low voltage +5 and +24 VDC. All user accessible electronics and wiring utilize low voltage. A guard must be removed to access the high voltage wiring. Sensor Module The sensor module contains a transducer capable of providing calibrated signals to the digital display module. Sensor modules are gas specific. The alarm panel is factory configured for sensor mounting within the alarm panel rough-in box (local sensors) or mounting above ceiling directly to the medical gas pipeline (remote sensors). Remote sensors may be located up to 1524 m (5,000 feet) from the alarm panel. A green front panel POWER ON indicator illuminates when the alarm panel is powered. Each monitored condition has a separate red indicator illuminated when in alarm. A red indicator on the alarm silence button is illuminated after any audible alarm has been silenced. A sensor module is required for each digital display module. Pipeline connections are 3/8” nominal (1/2” OD) type K copper tube. Connectors are provided for attaching field wiring. Sensors are gas specific for periodic testing without interrupting medical gas pipeline pressures or vacuum. Each panel provides an audible signal that is activated by the digital display module(s) or multi-signal alarm module(s). The audible signal will produce a minimum sound pressure level of 90 dBA measured at a distance of 3 ft (1m). The alarm panel also contains alarm silence, test, and setup buttons. Multi-Signal Alarm Module The multi-signal alarm module is capable of monitoring up to five dry-contact signals. Each signal illuminates a green LED to indicate that conditions are normal. When a fault occurs, the green LED turns off, a red LED illuminates, and the audible alarm sounds. The red LED flashes until the front panel alarm silence button is pressed. After the alarm silence button is pressed, the red LED remains illuminated, but does not flash. The red indicator automatically turns off and the green LED illuminates when the fault is corrected. Each panel includes a general fault relay for the entire panel, and an RS-485 data port for the MEGA network (An additional auxiliary relay is available as an option). Digital Display Module The digital display module may be used as either a master alarm or area alarm. The display is programmable to read psig, in Hg, mm Hg, or kPa in increments of 1 psig, 1 in Hg, 1 mm Hg, or 1 kPa respectively. The digital display module provides an audible and visual signal when a fault condition occurs. The front panel alarm mute button can silence the audio. The visual signal flashes until the alarm silence button is pressed, and then remains illuminated, but does not flash. The visual signal automatically cancels when the fault is corrected. Separate visual signals for system pressure or vacuum are NORMAL (green LED), LOW (red LED), and HIGH (red LED). Signal limits are factory set per NFPA 99 and field programmable without the use of tools. Pressing and holding the front panel TEST button initiates a self-test function to test the LED display, visual indicators, audible alarm, and to view the alarm set points. LED illumination for unused signals can be deactivated in the field. Field programming can be accomplished without the use of tools. Pressing and holding the front panel TEST button shall initiate a self-test function to test the LED indicators and audible alarm. As an option, the multi-signal module may be supplied with five, dry-contact, normally closed relays for connection to a building automation system. Relay ratings are 30 VAC/VDC 2A max. Blank Module A blank overlay is used to fill unused alarm panel locations or reserve a module location for future expansion. It may be removed and either module style substituted at any time. The cylinder banks are arranged in a staggered configuration and provide an uninterrupted supply of gas for the specific gas application. The manifold is cleaned, tested, and prepared for the indicated gas service and constructed in accordance with requirements of the latest edition of NFPA 99 and CGA. NOTE: The flow capacity of a nitrous oxide and carbon dioxide manifold depends upon environmental conditions at the installation site and the number of cylinders in service. Installing a nitrous oxide or a carbon dioxide manifold in a location that exposes it to an ambient temperature below 32°F (0°C) is not recommended. Manifold Design A bank regulator (one for each cylinder bank) is used to initially reduce the cylinder pressure to the two line regulators which control the final line pressure. The manifold automatically changes from the depleted primary supply bank to the secondary supply bank without fluctuation in line pressure utilizing dome-bias loading and unloading of the bank regulators. After replacement of the depleted cylinders, the manifold automatically indicates the replaced cylinder bank as the secondary supply. Manual resetting of the control panel is not necessary. The manifold includes a line pressure gauge, two cylinder bank pressure gauges (left bank and right bank), and color coded LED visual indicators for "IN USE" (green), "READY" (green), and "EMPTY" (red) for each cylinder bank. The manifold has intermediate and line pressure relief valves that are internally connected to a common vent port, terminating into a 1/2" FNPT "O"-ring sealed "zero clearance" union. Master shutoff valves (one for each cylinder bank) are located outside the cabinet and both valves are fabricated with metallic seating surfaces. The manifold is designed for placement of four "H" cylinders directly underneath the manifold cabinet. The cabinet enclosure is easily removable by releasing draw latches for component accessibility and the enclosure may be secured from unauthorized access by locking the draw latches (locks provided by others). The manifold includes high-pressure modular header assemblies with gas specific pigtail-to-header high-flow check valves to permit changing of cylinders without gas leakage. Stainless steel flexible pigtails are provided for each cylinder gas connection, except for O2, He, CO2O2, O2CO2, HeO2, and O2He gases which are provided with rigid copper pigtails. The power supply and control board are furnished inside a premounted NEMA 4 enclosure. The power supply has electrical requirments as follows: 250mA max at 100-250VAC 50/60Hz single phase input to 24VDC output. The control board includes dry contacts for (2) separate, electrically isolated remote alarm connections for manifold Changeover. Environmental Considerations Manifolds are to be installed in accordance with requirements stated by NFPA 99, CGA and all applicable local codes. Manifold components are designed to work best over a temperature range of 0°F through 130°F. Wider temperature variation may cause manifold malfunctions to occur. The BeaconMedæs Lifeline® manifold has been environmentally tested to MIL STD 810F. The Lifeline® power supply and control board is fully contained inside a NEMA 4 enclosure, allowing for outdoor installations.
