It goes without saying, much work remains to be done prior to opening the festival. Currently, volunteers are needed to assist with our bulk mailings, distribution of marketing materials, prepping materials and supplies, signage, sponsorship, etc. In the next couple of weeks, we will start scheduling our festival workers / volunteers to assist with the activities and events that make up the three day event. Please call the Chamber office at 986-9760 to volunteer for our Signature Event, scheduled for September 18-20, 2015. Gold (Corporate) Partners of the Berea Chamber of Commerce Our business community supports the event and capitalizes on the marketing opportunity to promote their business through the festival as an exhibitor, sponsor or a volunteer. Business owners and managers encourage their employees to come and work as a team throughout the weekend dressed in their corporate attire to work shifts in the Spoonbread sales booth, the kitchen, information booth, as expeditors for move in and move out days, monitors in kiddie land, registration for the balloon rides, etc. What a GREAT way to show community support! Additionally, we need help throughout the week leading up to the event putting up banners, laying out booth space, and clean up on Sunday evening. Don’t sit on the sidelines, roll up your sleeves and invest some sweat equity and make lifelong friends as we get to know fellow business leaders outside of the normal work day. Call today and volunteer for some GREAT fun! Sincerely, David Welcome the Berea Chamber’s newest employee! Silver (Business) Partners of the Berea Chamber of Commerce This is Christina Goff’s first month of employment as Administrative Assistant with the Berea Chamber of Commerce. Benches suggest different things to different people. More than a place to rest, they convey a message that says welcome. It’s a place where friends may gather, people tend to linger, and an invitation is implied that can bring more visitors, traffic, and customers to your door. It’s also a way to encourage greater health; providing people of any age or ability the freedom to exercise at their own pace; and in their own manner; with convenient, sufficient, and appropriate stops along the way. That’s why your friends and neighbors at “agefriendly’ Berea have joined together with Berea College Crafts and the Berea Arts Council to offer you a unique opportunity to help convey a message of welcome to our community while at the same time bringing more business and foot traffic to your store. Berea College Crafts will create the design and crafting of the bench (see description below and attached) that is attractive, durable, and long-lasting and will laser engrave your name or logo as a sponsor or sponsors of the bench(es) The Berea Arts Council will look for artists to ornament your bench Your bench can be placed in front of your place of business or designated for another part of town Sponsorship: is set at $500.00 per bench and can be split among two businesses. Businesses can sponsor as many benches as they desire and place them at multiple locations Payment: can be paid directly to Berea College Crafts; or billed by Berea College to the intended sponsor Bench Orders: We would like to generate a minimum of 10 bench orders to get our “Welcome to Berea” Bench Program started. The goal is to have the benches in place on or before September 1 and orders will continue to be taken prior to that date. Additional Information you should know about your bench: All benches are designed to fit a standard stock size that the Berea College craft department is using, so there is VERY little waste- it is responsibly planned to conserve material and eliminate waste. Both a high-strength water-proof glue and through bolts have been used to add strength. The nuts can be tightened if the wood contracts and expands with age. The wood is a specially engineered pine that will weather like pressure treated lumber. The significant factor is that there are no chemicals used in the preparation of the wood. It can be painted or stained and will weather to a soft gray, as with other pine, cedar or teak. Attached you will find pictures of the bench along with a data sheet for additional information. Lastly, the dimensions are: 5” 11” in length x 37” high in the back x 18” high in the front x 18” deep seat. Pride, Practicality, and Commerce: Handsomely designed, environmentally friendly, and practical, it’s an invitation for anyone to sit a while and relax; says welcome to Berea; and draws additional traffic to you. We can’t think of a more convenient way to promote your business, organization, or service while providing a much needed addition and message to everyone who lives, works, or visits here. However, please don’t hesitate in placing your order. It takes time for the Berea College crafts department student volunteers to apply the type of quality craftsmanship for which Berea College and our community are so well known.
