Thinking outside of their four walls...
Meet Estelle.....a 95 year old JourneyCare patient who is living life to the fullest,
thanks to the inspiration of her JourneyCare team and the support of her daughter and
son-in-law, Robin and Paul Johnstone.
The sky was the limit for Robin and Paul in planning the adventures. All of Estelle’s
experiences have been documented in pictures. “We like to take pictures of
everything we do, which is nice,” shared Robin. “We can review them with Estelle.
It’s fun to talk about them.”
“Estelle is one of those special patients that teaches life’s lessons without even
trying,” said Karen Steffens, RN and a member of Estelle’s JourneyCare team. “She
has taught me that no matter how old you are or what your limitations are, you can
still live life to the fullest.”
This holiday season, Robin and Paul are looking forward to their daughters coming in from
from New York and many people coming to visit, including Estelle’s JourneyCare team.
Watch for more about Estelle’s inspring adventures on Facebook, Twitter and our website, www.journeycare.org.
The Foglia Family Foundation...Leading the Way for JourneyCare
Vince Foglia grew up on the West Side of Chicago where he learned about the power of giving from
m
his parents. “My father made a nice living at a small grocery store and butcher shop he had on the
West Side and my mom worked part-time” recalled Foglia. “We really didn’t have a lot of money,
but they helped people all the time.”
Vince, Chief Executive Officer, Chairman of the Board and Co-Founder of Sage Products, and his
wife, Pat, carry on his parents’ legacy sharing a long-time commitment to charitable giving and
are generous supporters of many causes, including JourneyCare. This past July, Vince and Pat,
through the Foglia Family Foundation, made a $1,000,000 leadership gift to JourneyCare to create
an endowment fund for charity care and unfunded/underfunded programs. This gift will ensure that
JourneyCare can keep its long-standing promise of never turning anyone away due to inability to pay..
Vince & Pat Foglia
“JourneyCare plays a vital role in supporting and helping families at a time when they need it the most,” explained Foglia. “We feel a strong
obligation to ensure that this essential agency remains financially strong so that it is there for everyone’s benefit when the time comes.”
“The Foglias have been instrumental in advancing JourneyCare’s mission,” said Jason Leppin, director of the JourneyCare Foundation.
“Vince and Pat are truly passionate about helping those in our community with extraordinary needs and we are so honored and grateful
for their support and friendship over the years.”
The Foglias hope their gift sets an example that others will follow. “The Foglias are an inspiration to us all,” shared Leppin. “Someday, each of us
and the people we love the most, our families, friends and neighbors, will need the exceptional, compassionate care JourneyCare provides.
It is comforting to know people like the Folgias are here to support the community in this way.”

“One of the things we learned from JourneyCare right from the beginning is that
our job and Estelle’s job is to live life to the fullest,” explained Paul. “That triggered
something in us.”

“The nature of illness is intensely personal…
for the individual and his or her family,” he stated
at JourneyCare’s Fall Symposium on November 4. “Whenever an

He concluded that the best care possible takes love.
“We can do this by providing the best care possible to each and every
person…doing it with honesty, with compassion, with tenderness
and with love.”
