FACT SHEET – Westney Heights Plaza – A Single Free Standing Building, Ajax, Ontario LEED Canada New Construction (NC) v1.0 Certification This single free standing building, which forms part of Westney Height Plaza, a shopping centre development, is occupied by Sherwin Williams and located at the intersection of Kingston Road West and Westney Road North in Ajax, Ontario. It is owned and was developed by First Capital Realty Inc. (FCR) and obtained LEED Canada New Construction (NC) v1.0 Certification in 2009. In keeping with FCR’s ongoing commitment to sustainable design and construction, this single free standing building located at Westney Heights Plaza was constructed to LEED Canada NC v1.0. The LEED Canada NC v1.0 Certification comprises the base building design and construction of one building with 348 m² or 3,745 ft² in total. FCR did not construct or fit out the interior finishes or leaseholds of the tenant premises; and as a result, they were not included in this LEED Canada NC v1.0 Certification. However, a mandatory agreement specifies that the tenant design and complete the interior of their leased premises in accordance with LEED requirements. Reduced water consumption by 39% by installing low flow plumbing fixtures. ENERGY & ATMOSPHERE o o Optimized energy performance. 36% estimated projected savings in annual energy costs. Secured a two-year contract to supply 100% of the building’s power needs from renewable sources. Used adhesives, sealants, paints, and coatings having low volatile organic compound (VOC) content to minimize off gassing. Installed thermal comfort monitoring system.
