From the Director’s Desk
A School for Compassionate and Competent Managers
It gives me great pleasure to invite you to participate in this year’s
student placements program at IIM Kozhikode. We are the fastest
growing IIM in the country, having increased our student intake
five fold in the last eight years. This has been reflected in an
equivalent growth not only infrastructure-wise, but also in taking
up the role of a dynamic institution that develops the future leaders
of India and the rest of the World.
Our vision is to globalize Indian thought. We believe that
management is an inclusive social activity that brings a diversity
of human competencies in the pursuit of higher purpose. This is
indeed the keynote of Indian thought that has been passed on
over decades, and generations of Indians have lived their lives
and attained new heights by believing and practicing this
philosophy. As an Institute, our goal is to bring these cardinal
tenets to a global arena. Our quest for diversity is reflected not
only in the highest ever percentage increase in women candidates
entering the Institute, but also in the variety of areas of expertise
that the candidates possess.
As an institute dedicated to providing holistic management
education, we believe that there are many ways in which learning
can occur apart from within the classroom. In addition to lectures,
students enhance their overall learning experience through
facilities such as a state-of-the-art library and the latest technology
resources available. They participate in cross functional interest
groups, committees, social development projects in the local
community, and a variety of co-curricular and extracurricular
activities linked to industry and real-life management challenges.
I am glad to present to you our talented students looking for an
opportunity to leave their footprints in their chosen fields of
excellence.

Placement Chairperson’s Message
Welcome to the sixteenth edition of our Recruiter’s Guide. The
last one year has been an exhilarating journey of celebration,
unprecedented progress, and continuous improvement. This
would not have been possible without the support of our
recruiting partners, who have been an integral part of IIM
Kozhikode’s growth story. I thank you for the faith you have
reposed in the talented students on our campus, and am
delighted by the feedback I have received from all quarters. I
also extend a warm welcome to our new recruiters, and hope
that this year will be the beginning of a long and fruitful
relationship.
Placements 2012 was a clear and quantum leap over earlier
years, primarily in terms of the quality of offers made. 42% new
recruiters participated last year, taking the overall tally of
participating companies to 135. We overcame the fear of a
slowing economy and increased batch size with resilience,
which was reflected in the quality of offers and the packages
offered to our students. There was also an increase of 7% in the
average salary offered to the students of the fourteenth batch
graduating from IIM Kozhikode.
Several differentiators have helped us in our journey. Courses
are designed with continuous feedback from industry, and
acquaint students with contemporary developments in their
areas of specialization. The many student-driven activities and
programs on campus, to which we add each year, ensure that
our students are self-starters – inspired to take initiative, and
assuming leadership roles with ease. Also, we understand that
future managers do not operate in a vacuum, and hence we
encourage our students to explore their social responsibility
during their time here, thus developing leaders and thinkers
who are keenly aware of the interplay between business and
society.
Our alumni are one of our most significant assets, and have
made their mark in every organization they have worked with.
Displaying maturity and leadership in reaching prominent
positions in their respective domains in a short span, they stand
as a living testimony of the quality students at IIM Kozhikode.
Their presence and accomplishments in the corporate world
have facilitated better placements since the inception of IIM
Kozhikode in 1997.
As we advance towards Placements 2012-13, we aim to build
on these equities and nurture them to reach for greater heights.
It is a privilege to invite you to partner with us, and I keenly look
forward to a sustainable and mutually enriching relationship.

About IIMK
About IIM Kozhikode
IIIM Kozhikode is the fifth Indian Institute of Management to be founded
by the Government of India in collaboration with the Government of
Kerala in 1996. Architected by the Late Joseph Stein, Mani and
Chowfla, the campus is set amidst one hundred acres of the scenic
Malabar hills. It is an excellent example of how state-of-the-art
environment-friendly engineering design can be combined with
distinct regional architectural styles to produce aesthetically
pleasing and functionally perfect structures.
Starting with a modest batch of forty two students in 1997, the Institute
boasts of admitting 356 students for its batch of 2012-14. It has
made its mark in the sphere of academics and research, and carved
a niche for itself in the industry owing to its faculty and alumni. It is
the first IIM in India to have received the prestigious Association of
MBAs (AMBA) accreditation enjoyed by international institutes like
the London Business School, INSEAD etc.
In addition to the Post Graduate Program (PGP), IIM Kozhikode offers
a Fellow Program in Management (FPM), Management Development
Programs (MDPs) and Executive Post-Graduate Programs (EPGP).
All these programs are highly sought after in the industry, and several
executives register for them every year.
Today, IIM Kozhikode is a name to reckon with in the international
fraternity with its tie-ups with almost 30 foreign B-schools for the
Students’ Foreign Exchange program. In 2010, Yale University
partnered with IIM Kozhikode for academic leadership development
programs.
In 2011, IIM Kozhikode inaugurated the first ever Indian Business
History Museum in the country, to inspire aspiring business
entrepreneurs and show them the path to success through
innovation, diligence and perseverance.
In terms of institutional rankings, it is ranked among the top B-schools
in the nation, with world-class infrastructure and facilities. Recruiters
consider IIM Kozhikode as a preferred destination because they can
choose from a talented pool of students and also develop a long
lasting relation with the Institute through various avenues of
engagement.
IIM Kozhikode is the fastest growing B-school in India. Its growth
trajectory sets it apart from other B-schools, and makes it a preferred
choice for both students and recruiters.

Milestones
AMBA Accreditation
In 2010, IIM Kozhikode was awarded
the AMBA accreditation for the PGP
and EPGP programs. AMBA provides
credibility to IIMK’s courses
internationally, and drives the institute
to keep its courses up-to-date and in
tune with the international standards.
This credibility will be used to
propagate the Institute internationally
and build on the aspects required to
make IIMK a truly global player in
education.

established in 1996 by the Government of India in collaboration
with the Government of Kerala.
IIM Kozhikode has embarked on an ambitious
program for establishing a Museum of Indian
Business History, which will be the first of its kind in
India. This is a significant step in acknowledging
the contribution of India’s business leaders in the
making of India. Trade, Industry and Commerce
have flourished for centuries in India, but nowhere
has it come together in the manner as it has here.
About IIMK
Indian Business Museum
Our vision is to create a national museum of Indian
Business History at IIM Kozhikode that will shape
the aspirations of young entrepreneurs, and
inculcate the spirit of innovation and business
entrepreneurship among the students of IIM
Kozhikode. The museum spans over 23,000 sq. ft.,
and has an outstanding collection of artifacts,
sculptures, photographs, historical documents,
letters, miniature models, video and audio
recordings, digital repositories and books that
showcase the wealth of Indian business history to
the visitor. These exhibits have been segregated in
a chronological order into the ancient, medieval,
colonial, pre-independence, and
postindependence periods.
It is a pleasure to report that the Phase I of work on
the museum is completed. Over half a dozen top
level corporate houses from India have set up their
exclusive pavilions in the museum. TATA, Godrej,
Reliance, SBI, Infosys and FACT have made their
contributions to the museum. Bajaj, Sahara Group
and ICICI Bank will be joining the museum soon.
On 6th July, 2012 Dr. D. Subbarao, the Hon’ble
Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI)
inaugurated the RBI Gallery in the Indian Business
Museum. The RBI Gallery is one of the significant
sections in the Business Museum. The Gallery speaks
of the evolution of the RBI as well as the origins and
history of the financial system in India. ISRO will
also be joining the museum with the ISRO Pavilion
soon.
In order to capture the regional flavor, the Malabar
Chamber of Commerce has sponsored the Malabar
Pavilion with a large model of Uru, the ancient ship
which was used for trade and commerce between
India and the rest of the world, standing testament
to the contribution of Malabar to India.
The theme of the museum was unveiled by
Shri Oommen Chandy, the Chief Minister of Kerala,
in the presence of the cabinet ministers and
Prof. Debashis Chatterjee.

Library & Information Center
Infrastructure
The Library and Information Center (LIC) is IIM Kozhikode’s
knowledge hub, acting as a nerve center of scholarly and corporate
information. It aims at providing state-of-the-art information backup
and support to its instructional processes and research, through
excellent resources and value-added information services in all
areas of management and related disciplines.
12
Over the years, the LIC has registered significant progress and
brought worldwide recognition and laurels to IIMK. The E-Learning
Platform developed by the Center for Development of Digital
Libraries (CDDL) for the WHO India Office, the Information Portal
for the Coir Board, and the Greenstone Support Network for South
Asia deserve a mention. IIMK’s ambitious Digital Library project,
sponsored by the Ministry of Human Resource Development,
received the status of an example collection from the renowned
‘Greenstone’ family of the University of Waikato, New Zealand.
Another important landmark has been the commissioning of the
Smart-Card based Access Control System and the Smart-Gate
based E-Security System. The latest addition is the Leadership
Compass targeted towards the management fraternity. The LIC at
IIMK is a digital delight, available 24 hours a day, spanning the
entire campus. It is a perfect blend of digital, audio, video and
print media with cutting-edge technology. It is an outstanding
knowledge-centre catering to the faculty, students and research
scholars. It houses over 31,300 books in print form, 265 print
journals, 30,000 e-books, 3,500 bound volumes of research journals,
15,000 corporate annual reports and more than 15,500 e-journals
from India and abroad, in addition to 2,555 CD-ROM publications
on contemporary issues.
The audio visual unit in the LIC hosts over 254 educational videos
covering a wide range of disciplines in management. IIMK is an
active member in the IIMs’ Library Consortium as well as the
Ministry of HRD’s INDEST Consortium. The annual rupee equivalent
of document resourcing in the LIC is around 5 crores. IIMK is also
developing special documentation centers on the European Union
and the ASEAN countries.
IIM Kozhikode views information technology not only as critical
infrastructure for supporting modern academic needs, but also
as a central component of the academic process itself.
Information technology resources available at IIMK include
computers and peripheral devices, a local area network, the
global information network, and the software applications.
Computing facilities at IIMK include powerful computers for
providing support for diverse computing requirements, and
access to bibliographic databases and archives.
About IIMK
Computing Facilities
IIMK provides distributed and clustered computing across the
campus through a wired and wireless backbone running across
campus. The residential hill is connected to the campus
network through wireless and ADSL. Classrooms, the computer
centre, and the library buildings are enabled with indoor Wi-Fi
facility. The academic hill is enabled with outdoor Wi-Fi facility
as well.
Network printing facility is available on laser, line matrix and
dot matrix printers. Other equipment available in the center
includes CD/DVD writers, scanners and digital video cameras
etc. IIMK also has one of the most modern communication
infrastructures, which provides voice, data, and video
communications services through a 2 Mbps ISDN line. The
Institute also has a multi-party ISDN/IP based
videoconferencing facility. More than 100 Mbps leased line
based internet connectivity from multiple service providers
facilitates round the clock internet access.
The academic environment at IIMK makes extensive use of
modern technology to supplement conventional classroom
based teaching. We have created a virtual classroom
environment using Blackboard LMS as well as using an Open
Source Course Management System called Moodle LMS to
support teaching and learning. This is a web based service to
facilitate anytime, anyplace access to academic content.
The computing facilities are available round the clock on a 24
hours/day, 365 days/year basis.
13
Hostels
The Institute has thirteen well designed hostels which can
accomodate about 750 students. The classrooms, computer
center, canteen, and all other facilities are within walking
distance of the hostels.
TV and washing machines are provided in every hostel.
Facilities for making STD/ISD calls are located within the hostels.
The hostels also have facilities for various sports like table tennis,
badminton, carom, chess etc. Other facilities include
gymnasium and basic medical facilities.
All the hostel rooms have been provided with a LAN connection.
Female students are provided separate accommodation on
campus.
Guest Houses
The Institute has six air-conditioned guest houses which can
accommodate about sixty guests. All the rooms are equipped
with an attached toilet, TV with cable connection, small
refrigerator, coffee maker and internet connectivity .
In addition, a ninety-four seated executive accommodation is
under construction and is expected to be ready in the near
future.
Sports facilities
Sports facilities available on campus include table-tennis,
carom, snooker, cricket, football, basketball, badminton and
volleyball. A significant investment in building sports
infrastructure on campus has been planned for the coming
years demonstrating IIMK’s commitment to the field.
14
About IIMK
The Courses
PGP
The two-year Post-Graduate Program in Management is the flagship
educational program preparing young graduates for senior level positions
in the industry. In the first year, students undertake a 61 credit foundation
course in various functional areas, which is followed by 8-10 weeks of summer
training in various business organizations.
The second year comprises of a wide range of elective courses across
verticals. Students take 42-51 credits. Some of the courses are of two credits
(twenty class contact hours) and others of three credits (thirty class contact
hours).
The program lays greater emphasis on knowledge assimilation and its
effective use than on its mere reproduction. It uses a wide variety of
pedagogies: lectures, case studies, exercises, role-plays, simulation, video
shows etc. The evaluation system is rigorous comprising quizzes,
assignments, mid-term and end-term examinations. The program also lays
emphasis on learning through requirements of library-based self-study,
group work, open-ended discussions and real life projects. The students
inculcate the spirit of ‘dream-innovate-achieve’ and imbibe social concern
as an integral part of the learning process.
Consistent with the Institute’s goal of creating business leaders who are
socially and environmentally responsible, each student is required to provide
active planning and execution help to non-profit organizations. The students
also undertake compulsory courses on Business Ethics, Social
Transformation of India and Environmental Management in their first year.
15
Pedagogy
The Case Method
The case method creates a classroom in which students succeed by exercising skills of
leadership and teamwork and applying theoretical knowledge in the face of real-life
managerial problems. The case method encourages students to express a point of view,
suggest hypotheses, and come to some conclusions even when faced with considerable
uncertainty. The case method enables the IIMK graduates to think on their feet, listen,
reason, defend, and work as a team. The cases used in the classroom are reviewed every
year to ensure continuing relevance to today’s business environment. Some of the faculty
members have been sent to Harvard University for training in the case method.
Lectures and demonstrations
Lectures and demonstrations are the primary means by which theoretical frameworks
and tools of analysis are introduced and reinforced by the faculty. The importance of
effective learning in the classroom cannot be emphasized enough. This methodology
equips would-be managers with cross-functional skills and leadership abilities, thus
creating effective team players. Lectures and demonstrations aim to instill in students
the ability to think laterally, and develop an entrepreneurial approach to complex business
situations.
Group Work and Projects
A major component of most courses, group work and projects allow highly capable
individuals to channelize their creative energies and work as a team towards a goal.
Working closely with talented peers from different backgrounds and domains enable
students to hone the vital skills of relationship building and team play. Projects are longterm group assignments that develop the students’ ability to analyze larger problems
and present plans and solutions. Special emphasis is placed on communication and
presentation skills during the final presentation of the results of project work.
Role Plays & Simulations
Scholarships
Role playing is a very powerful pedagogical tool that allows students to gain an
understanding of another person’s views and biases. Role playing, when used selectively
and properly, enhances the communication skills of students and their ability to appreciate
different points of view. At IIMK, faculty members regularly use role play to increase the
students’ involvement in the course by a significant degree. Along with role play, in-class
simulation is another method actively followed for explaining concepts. It provides an onthe-job experience and helps in relating theoretical concepts with practical implications.

Socially
Responsible
Managers
IIM Kozhikode promotes a number of activities which aim
to create managers who are socially responsible. Two main
activities are Social Development Projects (SDP) and
initiatives driven by the Social Service Group (SSG).
SDP is a non-credit compulsory component of the IIM
Kozhikode Post Graduate program. Under this program,
students form groups and take up a project to study an
agency, institution, service or utility and suggest
appropriate interventions and solutions. The SDP begins
in the first year of the program and runs through its entire
duration. The objectives of the SDP are to broad-base
management education and practice, and to orient the
students to appreciate the larger socio-economic and
political conditions in the country.
About IIMK
Creating
Some of the recent SDPs pursued by the students are listed
below.
Developing a strategy for marketing handicraft items
produced by the patients of Pain and Palliative Care
Society, Kozhikode.
Collaboration with the Kerala Sustainable Urban
Development Project (KSUDP) to streamline disposal
of solid waste management in Kozhikode.
Scope of microfinance institutions in the context of local
industries in districts around the Kozhikode city.
Issues related to students in the Association of Welfare
for Handicapped (AWH) in Kozhikode.
SSG is a students’ initiative which undertakes social
activities. Some select activities undertaken by SSG
during 2011-12 are listed below.
Project Management Workshop for NGOs: Around thirty
five NGOs from all over Kerala attended the one day
workshop at IIMK. Some projects conceived by the
Institute have won awards constituted by the Ministry of
Agriculture, Government of India.
Panorama - Enlightening Young Minds: A career
counseling session for 10th standard students from
government schools in Kozhikode. This event had
sessions on leaders, opinion building, spoken English,
and competitive exams.
Collaboration with Centre for Research and Education
for Social Transformation (CREST): This was a workshop
for underprivileged children to gain a respectable and
deserving place in the society, training its participants
in communication and problem solving skills through
group discussion sessions.

Many students of the second year participate in the Students’ Exchange program. Students from affiliate partners
also spend a term at IIMK and become deeply integrated with campus activities. The exchange program exposes
students to innovative pedagogical techniques, sensitizes them to cross-cultural issues and provides them with
a setting to test their skills in a global environment – all very crucial for today’s global managers.
Experiences of foreign students
Allegra Ciarletti, ESCP Europe, France
I must say I was very impressed by the modernity of the campus and the quality of the courses. But what struck me
the most about IIMK was the kindness and the energy of the students, who, despite our cultural differences,
integrated me and the other exchange students very well.
About IIMK
International Exchange
Those few months at IIMK were a unique experience and a real chance for me.
Carlo Ratti, CBS, Denmark

The Other Programs
EPGP
With the aim of helping practicing executives, who cannot
join any long duration residential education programs, IIM
Kozhikode provides an opportunity through executive
education.
In 2001, IIMK conceived a new model of management
education for working executives. Executive Management
Education program (eMEP) marked the beginning of IIMK’s
Executive Education activities. The Institute which was still
cutting its teeth, pioneered management education through
a synchronous Interactive Distance Learning (IDL) mode in
the Asia-Pacific region.
The admission to the programs is through a nationwide
rigorous selection process. The executive education
programs have in-built flexibility that allow participants to
acquire the necessary knowledge and skills without adversely
affecting their official duties. Classes are regularly conducted
through two-way audio & video communication (teleclassrooms) with streaming facilities that provide a virtual
classroom learning environment. These programs have two
modules. The participants attend classes by logging into
any of the 300 plus high bandwidth networked classrooms in
the country. There is also an in-campus module conducted
at the IIMK campus.
IIMK currently offers the following executive education
programs:
Two Year Executive Post Graduate Program (EPGP) –
accredited by AMBA
Executive Education Program in General Management
(EEPGM) – previously eMEP
Executive Education Program in Finance (EEPF)
Executive Education Program in Strategic Management
(EEPSM)
Executive Education Program in Marketing (EEPM)
Executive Education Program in Operations Management
(EEPOM)
Executive Education Program in Information Technology
Management (EEPITM)
Executive Education Program in Human Resource
Management (EEPHR)
IIMK also offers specialized Management Development
Programs on the Executive education mode.

Fellow Program in Management (FPM) is the doctoral program
of IIMs. IIMs see the Fellow Program as a crucial source of
management researchers and faculty resources of top quality
both to the academic institutions including IIMs and to the
industry, businesses, government and society. IIM Kozhikode
started its FPM in the year 2007-08 with the aim of developing
top quality researchers, consultants, management experts and
faculty resources in the country.
About IIMK
FPM
At IIMK, specializations in FPM are currently offered in the areas
of Economics, Finance, Accounting and Control, Information
Technology and Systems, Marketing, Organizational Behavior
and Human Resources, Quantitative Methods and Operations
Management, and Strategic Management.
MDP
Management Development Programs of IIM Kozhikode are
designed to provide working executives with state-of-the-art
concepts and practices in management. They are designed
with the objective of providing insights into managerial
concepts and techniques relevant for formulating and
implementing strategies in various functional areas.
Participants gain an overall perspective for decision making
by integrating functional and general management
approaches.
The pedagogy adopted is participatory. Our approach is to
bring in the rich experiences of participants into the classroom
through discussions and blend them with inputs from faculty.
The case method of study is the major tool. It is supplemented
by group exercises, role plays, computer games, lectures, and
presentations by participants.
Some participating institutions are BEL, The Indian army, NHPC
and NTPC from the public sector, and GMR, L&T, US
Technology, Malabar Gold, Arbitron, TCS and CISCO from the
private sector.
FDP
IIM Kozhikode has undertaken a major initiative for
strengthening the country’s intellectual infrastructure for
management education and training, through the Faculty
Development Programs (FDP). Currently the Institute is offering
one of the highest numbers of FDPs among business schools
in the country, reflecting its commitment to nation building
through management education and infrastructure
development.
These programs not only focus on enhancing functional area
expertise, but also on improving one’s classroom delivery both
as a teacher and trainer, as well as on enhancing abilities for
conducting meaningful research. IIMK is also conducting
programs in partnership with organizations like Strategic
Management Forum and European Case Clearing House. The
All India Council for Technical Education has recognized IIMK
as a Quality Improvement Centre in November 2004.

Facts and Figures
At IIM Kozhikode, we have always strived to push the envelope.
Across indices, IIMK has grown faster than perhaps any other
B-school in the country. Driven by its motto - Dream, Innovate
and Achieve - IIMK is poised to embark on the next decade in
its journey to the pinnacle of excellence. We believe that as a
recruiter and a stakeholder in our growth, your right to
transparent and up-to-date information is paramount. In
keeping with this ethos, we summarize some key parameters
that are indicative of a decade of Dreaming, Innovating and
Achieving.
Sector wise breakup of offers
In its sixteenth year since inception, IIM Kozhikode placed a
batch of 317 students. 135 companies participated in the
process and made offers to a batch of 317 students across
Finance, Marketing, Operations, Consulting, General
Management, IT and HR sectors. Amidst recessionary
pressures, IIM Kozhikode strived to carve out a niche for itself
as India’s leading B-School by placing its 14th batch in reputed
companies like TAS, Deutsche Bank, Nomura, Goldman Sachs,
ICICI, Deloitte Consulting, HUL, ITC, Cognizant, Arvin Meritor,
Ingersoll Rand and many others.
A number of new companies hired from IIMK resulting in an
increased number of first time recruiters. These include
companies such as Amazon, Zynga, Maruti Suzuki, Flipkart,
Texas Instruments, Dell, Reserve Bank of India and UB Group.
Many companies offered senior managerial roles to students
with relevant work-experience.
The highlight of this year’s placement was the significant
increase in the number of Pre-Placement Offers (PPO) offered
to students. From eighteen PPOs last year, the number
increased to fifty-one PPOs / Pre-Placement Interviews offered
to students across verticals. Industry stalwarts like Colgate
Palmolive, P&G, HUL, ITC, Deutsche Bank, Mahindra &
Mahindra, Airtel, JP Morgan Chase, Citi Bank, Standard
Chartered and Reliance Industries preferred the PPO route.

Summer Placements
The Summer Recruitment process is carried out during the
month of October, and summer interns start their internships at
the end of the third term. The internship lasts for a minimum of
eight weeks (April and May). The summer process is a unique
experience for students for the following reasons:
It exposes students to the working of an organization and the
links across different functions
Summer interns are skilled workers with a fresh approach
and enthusiasm. They are in a unique position to provide an
objective point of view about the organization’s work
processes
Several companies prefer internships over interview-based
final recruitment as a more comprehensive method of
evaluating potential employees. Trends from previous years
indicate recruiters’ preference towards rewarding deserving
candidates by getting them on-board through the PPO route
based on the performance in the summer internship
The students also act as effective ambassadors for the
organization on campus, spreading awareness about the
company in general
Lateral Placements
Laterals provide an opportunity for the students to leverage
their prior work experience and negotiate with the organization
for a designation higher than that of a management trainee or
an entry role MBA graduate. Companies benefit by gaining
from the added advantage of accessing a rich talent pool with
relevant exposure to the respective industry. The minimum work
experience required is decided by the company based on the
role and the profile of the batch.
Final Placements
Final placements are conducted at the end of the second year
for final year students. During final placements, companies are
allotted slots based on a democratic slotting process. The
process will start in the month of January. Students who get
offers during lateral placements will be automatically signed
out of the placements process and will be unavailable for final
placements. A student on getting an offer during the final
placements process is signed out of the process.
Video Conferencing Facility
The Institute is equipped with a stateof-the-art, in-house two-way video
conferencing facility. The facility can be
used for conducting selection
processes if visiting the campus is not
feasible for recruiters (especially in case
of international recruiters). The facility
has been used in the past, and
recruiters have expressed pleasure with
the quality of interaction.
In case you would like to avail this facility,
please let us know, and we will be
pleased to offer our assistance in this
regard.
Recruitment Fee
for
Placements 2012-13

participation and recruitment fees that
are dependent on the type of the
placements process (Laterals/Finals),

an educational institution wholly
financed by the Government of India is
exempted from income tax under
section 10 (23c) (iii ab) of the I.T. Act
and therefore no tax need be deducted
at source during the payment of the

Other Avenues of Engagement
Speaker Participation
The seminars and management conclaves provide students a
platform to learn from industry’s thought leaders and experienced
practitioners. Students are assured of a rich one-to-one interaction
with the top managers of the country. Companies benefit from a
close interaction with students and assess them as potential
employees. Interaction with top management executives can be
arranged at the company’s convenience.
Live Projects
Live projects are another avenue through which companies can
make their presence felt on campus. Students engage in such
projects along with their daily curriculum activities. The duration
ranges from three weeks to three months and is on a stipend
basis. It is a mutually beneficial association as the companies get
business critical projects done and students also gain industry
experience without having to visit the premises of the company.
There is a thorough process of feedback and ratings to judge the
performance of the candidates.
Workshop
Event Sponsorship
The IIMK campus hosts a large number of seminars and events
drawing participation from B-Schools in India and abroad. In
addition to the flagship events - Horizons (the annual management
conclave) and Backwaters (the cultural festival) - domain-specific
seminars are held throughout the year. Companies associate with
these events according to their line of business and inclination to
increase corporate awareness across B-School campuses.
Sponsorships assure companies of high visibility in the media for
the events, boosting brand recall.
Industry Scholarships
IIMK is open to partnering with corporate on their Corporate Social
Responsibility initiatives. To that end, companies institute
scholarships that reward academic brilliance, sportsmanship,
literary verve, and in many cases, overall abilities of a student.
These scholarships underline an organization’s strong
commitment to associate with the Institute. As a direct
consequence, there is increased respect for the organization as a
whole amongst the entire student community.

that happen at IIM Kozhikode.

Placements
Companies conduct a range of workshops on campus. These
interactions are stimulating for all parties involved and provide a
platform for an exchange of ideas. Typically held on weekends for
3-4hours, they involve participative learning methods like games,
live demonstrations and simulations. Lectures by highly
experienced and very senior top management are commonly held
and widely appreciated by students. Workshops provide
companies a forum to interact with students at a much deeper
level.

Getting to Kozhikode
Location
Kozhikode (also called Calicut) is the third-largest city in the state of
Kerala. The capital of the erstwhile Malabar district, Kozhikode city is
the headquarters of the Kozhikode district. A melting-pot of diverse
