Tracy Woodall Nov/Dec 2015************* LANGSTONE SAILING CLUB************** FINAL Cruiser Rally to Chichester marina - Ethna Haines
The sun shone and the winds were light for the last club rally of the season- and
probably our last for a couple of years, as we are seriously into the planning for our
trip up to Scotland next year. Eighteen boats took part, and enjoyed a quiz and art
challenge before Happy Hour on the pontoon (where we were accosted by one of
the marina staff, who was worried the pontoon was sinking!) Saturday night, we all
ate in the yacht club, and watched the rugby, before Frank braved the night sleeping
in the open cockpit of his Yeoman, ( despite being offered a cosy bunk!) Well done
to Camilla and Dick who were the overall winners of the quiz, Lesley and Colin who
won the word game, Liz May for making an amazing life buoy from foil and other
things to win the art
challenge, very closely
followed by Vanessa's
life sized
anchor. Penny had the
most amusing Limerick,
and Ray and Lynn the
most creative boat
alphabet. Thanks to all
those club members
who came on the rally,
for making it such a
great weekend.

Nov/Dec 2015************* LANGSTONE SAILING CLUB************** FINAL Summary of the Commodores
Report at the AGM
Dave Cox gave a very positive report of the club at the AGM reflecting on the achievements of
the past year. He thanked the members of the Monday Club for the significant development of
the club buildings and grounds and in particular the refurbishment and installation of the
pontoon. He added that the refurbishment of Mylor as a general-purpose launch and the
purchase of a new RIB and outboards has expanded the clubs resources and capability. He
reflected on a very successful Youth Week, an overall increase in the dinghy sailing, successful
Training Courses, most enjoyable Cruiser Rallies, and the superb work of the House Committee
and the Sailing Committee. He thanked the retiring Berthing and Mooring Officer and the
retiring Sailing Secretary who had completed 12 years in the post.
Youth/Junior Report at the AGM
Connie Radford, the Junior Captain, reported on activities in the 2015 season. Key points are

Fun on the Water has been growing considerably with more juniors and more boats for
which the club helped to fund.
The Youth section now has two qualified dinghy instructors, Alex Woodall and Nancy
Ashcroft and a helpful ‘bunch’ of assistant instructors.
During a successful Junior Week our instructors taught the RYA Level 1 courses.
The instructors are pleased to be giving back to the sport after so many years of training.
We have been taking part in many races including Bart’s Bash and even achieving
places.
We have attended many events at Emsworth during the summer and hope to host our
own events to repay the hospitality.
We also took part in an inter-school event at Itchenor.
We must thank Mike and Eva Jessett for constantly being there to organize amazing
events for us including the Junior weeks which we much enjoyed.
We look forward to welcoming Ed and Heather Higgins as the new Youth/Junior reps
and Tom Ascroft who will be organizing Junior week.
