Chain-Driven Overhead Cam
Enables the engine to breathe better and run quieter.
OHC technology, in combination with the hemispherical
combustion chamber, elevates starting ease and
eliminates kickback. Required pulling force is reduced
by 30 to 40 percent with an automatic decompression
system. Engines start instantly – even at temperatures
as cold as -10ºC – without any perceptible kickback.
3
Dual Ball-Bearing Crankshaft Support
Ensures maximum stability and durability in the most
demanding conditions.
4
Hemispherical Combustion Chamber
Provides optimum intake and exhaust valve placement
allowing up to 9:1 compression ratio for superior
performance and efficiency.
Optimized Capacity Rigid Muffler
Combined with 33 percent fewer moving parts, ensures
noise levels a full 2 dbA below competitive models.
5
Case-Hardened Steel Timing Chain
Allows for precision timing and maximum durability.

Subaru Engines
High Performance
High Power & Torque
Overhead cam (OHC) technology and the hemispherical combustion chamber allow the Subaru EX engines to use a higher
compression ratio up to 9:1.
What is the significance of a higher combustion ratio?
More Power
A more powerful engine makes for more powerful and productive equipment.
Increased Efficiency
Lower fuel consumption and efficient performance reduce operating costs.

Using an engine indoors can kill you in minutes!
Engine exhaust contains carbon monoxide. This is a
poison you cannot see or smell. Never use inside a home
or garage, even if doors and windows are open. Only use
outside and far away from windows, doors and vents.
