Two New World Records Set By
Steve Archibald
A Note From Our
President
The year is going very well. The
feedback from most of our
competitions is great. We have
had a lot of interest this year.
There are some very capable
new shooters coming to our
events. The challenge is on for
our regulars. I want to thank
our regulars for always being
there for us. I want to thank the
new shooters for checking us
out and hopefully, you are
hooked.
By the time you read this, we
will have some new RSOs
trained to keep us as safe as we
can be. I want to thank Kevin
Brazell for dedicating his time
to our club for this training.
From left to right: Henry Pinkeye, Steve
Archibald, Jan Sarras, Everet Smith, Sarah

Congratulations are in order
to Steve Archibald on setting two
new World Records for the
Unlimited Class. The World
Record was set on October 24th
2015.
Steve has been our longstanding
member and Match Director of
the Short Range Benchrest
matches and is always willing to
help new shooters in his matches.
If you have any interest in
Steve was also featured in the Benchrest shooting, get a hold of

Steve.
His five 5 shot groups
aggregate measured .1702. The
previous record was .1801. His 5
shot group measured .1676. The
previous record was .355.
We have tried to make our
monthly meetings a bit more
fun. It’s nice to spend some time
with everyone comparing notes,
getting tips, shooting the
bull, etc, after the regular
business. Come on down and
join us.
Here is hoping everyone a great
season with lots of high scores
and trophy
smiles!

JUNE 2016
SHOW & TELL DISCUSSION: CASE TRIMMERS
This month, we compare some
of the different case trimmers
that were brought to the
March club meeting.
Giraud Power Trimmer.
Forster Products Original Trimmer.
Members exchanging tips on the
trimmers.
RCBS Trim Pro-2 Case Trimmer.
First, we review the Cadillac
of case trimmers, the Giraud
Power Trimmer. This trimmer
is popular and very easy to use
since it indexes the neck cut
from the shoulder, meaning
that you are getting somewhat
consistent results from case to
case. The biggest advantage
this trimmer has is its speed.
It can trim, chamfer and debur
a case neck in just a second.
This can save the reloader a
lot of time, especially if there
are large amounts of cases
being trimmed. The Giraud
handles a large range of
calibers and with the carbide
blade, wearing out is not that
much of a concern. Changing
calibers is convenient with the
simple swap of each head for
each specific caliber. Cost $460.
The next trimmer discussed
was the Forster Products
Original Trimmer. This
trimmer, at only $104.00 is
quite reasonable. It indexes
the neck cut from the base,
which is arguably more
consistent that the Giraud, but
it takes a lot longer per case to
complete a trim. The Forster
does have the option of adding
a 3-in-1 case trimmer head,
which alleviates the need for
the arduous
deburring/chamfering tool use.
Each kit comes with a variety
of neck collets and can handle
multiple calibers.
The last trimmer we reviewed
was the RCBS Trim Pro-2 Case
Trimmer. This trimmer has the
slight advantage over the
Forster in speed since the base
is held by a lever action
system. The manual kit is $120
but if you want more speed
case to case, you can upgrade
and get the RCBS Trim Pro-2
Power Case Trimmer kit at
$299.99. You can also get just
the power unit at $190 if you
already have an existing RCBS
Trim Pro Case Trimmer. Like
the Forster you can get a 3-in-1
head and this trimmer indexes
off the base.
So there you have it. If you
have any questions, please do
not hesitate to contact myself
or any of the Board of
Directors. Special thanks to
Chuck Neller and Monte Forbes
for volunteering their
machines for review and
presentation.
