EDUCATION First Hajj Mobile Application Launched in Three Languages By Mufti Jasemuddin Qasmi R enowned scholar of Hadith and King Faisal a w a r d l a u r e a t e D r. Muhammad Mustafa Azmi launched two mobile applications prepared by Dr. Najeeb Qasmi in Urdu, English and Hindi on 28 August 2015. The first application has been named “Hajj-e Mabroor” and contains three books on Hajj and Umrah, 9 speeches, one Hajj and Umrah presentation and 21 articles. This app is a useful guide for the pilgrims. They can read the books and articles available in the app at any time without access to the internet. Hundreds of informative questions and answers related to Hajj and Umrah are also available in the app. This is the first app of its kind in the world providing rich information about Hajj and Umrah in three languages. The second app has been named “Deen-e Islam”. It consists of 175 articles dealing with different aspects of life, 75 speeches, and 7 books. It is also the first mobile app in the world which has such religious treasure in three languages on 21 religious topics. During launching ceremony, Dr. Muhammad Mustafa Azmi said: “Today, anti-Islamic elements are criticizing Islam and striving hard to create doubts in the mind of Muslims about the origin and authenticity of the Qur’an and Hadith. Since these 39 EASTERN CRESCENT NOVEMBER 2015 conspiracies hatched by orientalists against Islam and the Qur’an are being carried out in different European languages, and on the other hand, our Islamic scholars are unaware of them and are not able to counter them. 70 organizations in Germany alone have collated currently and are working on a 20 years long project of creating doubts in the minds of Muslims about the compilation of the Qur’an to weaken their faith in authenticity of the Islamic resources.” Dr. Muhammad Mustafa Azmi is a graduate of Darul Uloom Deoband. He bagged his MA degree from Al Azhar University, Egypt in 1955 and Ph.D. from Cambridge University in 1966. He is the first man to computerize Arabic EDUCATION texts of Hadith and has written many books which are being taught in various universities across the world. Founding member of Jamia Millia Islami Alumni Association, Riyadh, Dr. Shafatullah Khan said: “Internet today is an effective tool for disseminating information. It can be used for educational purpose, for preaching Islam and removing misconception regarding Islam and Muslims etc. It will continue to affect our day to day life until it is replaced by other new technology. We need to make maximum use of it for conveying Islamic teachings to common people.” Highlighting the features of these two apps, Dr. Najeeb Qasmi said: “New technology has been used to develop these apps. Users can find them in Play Store or App Store by simply typing “Najeeb Qasmi” or “Hajj-e Mabroor” and install them within two minutes. Renowned Indo-Pak scholars and intellectuals have appealed to the general Muslims to take benefit from both the Apps. The English and Hindi versions of the website (www.najeebqasmi.com) as well as English and Hindi translations of Hajj-e-Mabroor (Pocket size hajj book) were also launched by Dr. Mustafa Azmi. Attendees including Dr Musharraf Ali, Eng. Khurshid Anwar, Eng. Arshad Bari, Eng Atiqurrahman, and Mr. Abid Aqeel appreciated Dr Najeeb Qasmi for his tireless effort to launch apps in three languages. Program ended with an appeal to strengthen the hands of Dr. Najeeb Qasmi by the President of the program, Maulana Abdul Bari Qasmi. 40 EASTERN CRESCENT NOVEMBER 2015 About Maulana Najeeb Qasmi Mohammad Najeeb Sambhali Qasmi is residing in Riyaz since 1999. He is an alumnus of Darul Uloom Deoband and Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. After completing Islamic studies and theology at Darul Uloom Deoband in 1994, Maulana Mohammad Najeeb Qasmi joined Jamia Millia Islamia University (JMI), New Delhi where he did graduation in Arabic and two courses of translation (Arabic into Eng and vice versa). He also completed MA in Arabic from Delhi University (DU). Dr. Mohammad Najeeb Qasmi has been awarded the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy from Jamia Millia Islamia for his valuable research on ‘Literary, Rhetorical and Aesthetical Aspects in the Ahadith of Al-Bukhari and Muslim.’ Beside hundreds of short Islamic articles that he keeps contributing to various websites, daily newspapers and monthly magazines, he has authored so far 6 books in Urdu: Hajj-e-, Hayya Alas Salah, Islahi Mazaamin, Mukhtasar Hajj Mabroor, Tohfae Ramazanul Mubarak, Maloomat-e Quran and Umrah Ka Tariqah. These books have been hugely acclaimed by the people and gone into several editions. He also organizes an Hajj Orientation programme once in a year to provide accurate guidance for the pilgrims. He belongs to an educated family in Sambhal, Muradabad, UP, India. His grandfather Maulana Mohammad Ismail Sambhali was a freedom fighter and renowned scholar of Hadith. He taught Bukhari for 17 years in different institutes of India, whereas his maternal grandfather Mufti Musharraf Hussain worked in various madrasas in India as chief Mufti and Muhaddith.
