JUNE.....................
Traffic Advisories for Saturday, June 27
ONLY DUE TO FIREWORKS
• THIS Wednesday, June 24 and Thursday, June 25
Future Now Leadership Training - an overnight experience with other diocesan teens. 8 sessions of training
workshops that are useful in all aspects of life. Come for
the two days, stay overnight, or come when you can.
After 6:00 PM, access into the Charlotte area may
be limited only to residents and those working in
the area as outlined below. Since traffic will be
extremely heavy, the public is strongly encouraged
to arrive at their destination as far in advance of the
street closings as possible to avoid heavy traffic and
delays. Normal traffic patterns will resume as soon
as possible after the conclusion of the fireworks.
Lake Avenue may be closed to all northbound
traffic at the Lake Ontario Parkway. All vehicles
will be detoured east across the O’Rourke Bridge or
west onto the Lake Ontario Parkway.
JULY.....................
• Monday, July 6 at 6:30 PM at Charlotte HS Fields
First Practice for Softball Team - a summer league of
fun faith and friendship. Our first game will be on
Wednesday, July 8, also at Charlotte Fields.
• Saturday, July 25 - Senior Hi Teens keep this date open
for your Christmas in July!
Because of the closing of Lake Avenue on
Saturday June 27, 2009 at 6:00 PM, there will be

Sacrament of Confirmation
NEXT Saturday, June 27, at the 5:00 PM Mass, Fr. Wheeland has
delegation from Bishop Matthew Clark to confirm four adults of our
parish, who have been preparing for this sacrament over the past several
months. As they celebrate this moment, please keep them in prayer, as
they rely upon their fellow parishioners, family and friends for support
and guidance. We congratulate them all as they grow in the love of God
– realizing the “Breath of God” within them.

Interested in the Webcam
Project at Holy Cross?
This will bring Mass, a funeral or
wedding right to a person’s computer
when they can not attend in person. If
you recognize the value of this technology as a ministry tool
and/or know someone who can benefit from it, please
consider making a contribution toward the purchase of
items on our wish list, some of which includes a laptop,
ethernet cable, wireless router, camera with pan and zoom,
and mounting hardware for the camera
This project is very important to Father Wheeland. He would
be happy to discuss it with any potential donor. If you would
like to help bring this project to fruition, please place your
donation in an envelope marked Webcam Project and
place it in the collection or drop it off to the parish office.
Please make checks payable to: Holy Cross Church, with
Webcam on the notes line.
For the last 5 years, Darlene and Jack Stewart
have been coordinating the Holy Cross Garage
Sale. It is no small task. Although the sale is at
the end of June, the planning begins in March
when the dates are posted and requests for
donations and volunteers are made. The really
serious work begins the weekend before the
garage sale as items are being brought to the
gym and every item is sorted and priced. Joan
Powers, Al Frascatore, and other dedicated
volunteers work tirelessly on this. The
donations are not only from Holy Cross, but
the whole Charlotte area and 8 surrounding
churches. Jane Lavery, an antiques assessor,
looks over each donation to determine which
items are more valuable and need to be priced
higher. Randy Briffa takes items to a flea
market or sells them on ebay if he thinks he
can get more money there. During Sunday’s
clean up, those things remaining that the VOA,
Salvation Army, and Vietnam Veterans accept,
get dropped off to each on Monday. Saint
Pauly takes all of our leftover clothing.
Darlene says that they see as many as 200
people over 3 days. People in the High Rise
Apartments always look forward to this sale as
it helps them furnish their apartments. She says
that although a lot of work is involved, all have
a good time seeing everyone and working with
our wonderful volunteers. There are hot dogs,
snacks, pop, and picnic tables available. It is a
fun and festive event, and “we are helping our
Holy Cross Parish!” All of this happens thanks
to the cooperation and hard work of volunteers
like Darlene and Jack.
