Because of the nature of the marathon’s rules and its location (i.e. food self-sufficiency, desert, security), runners’ supporters
cannot access the event. We know how important it is for runners, their families, friends and sponsors to share the moment
and live through the experience together. For that reason, a long weekend has been organized to give you a chance to be at
the finishing line of the last stage and possibilty to participe at the Charity stage (see the program). The voyage takes place in
parallel with the SULTAN MARATHON DES SABLES (with different flights and hotels from the MDS runners).
The trip is being organized by Terres d’Aventure, which has partnered SULTAN MARATHON DES SABLES since 1995.

Pratical information
Administrative Formalities
• Please Note !!! Any negligence on your behalf may place your holiday at risk.
• French nationals require a Passport with at least 6 months remaining validity at the
end of the holiday.
• French Nationals do not require a visa.
• People of other nationalities may require a visa: please request information from the
Moroccan consulate closest to your home.

Small equipment
Sunglasses, sun protection cream for lips and skin, personal toiletries, flannel, torch. No
shower tents planned (only chemical WC tents)
Vaccinations
• No vaccinations are compulsory
• The Institut Pasteur strongly recommends the following for all travellers:
- Tetanus/ polio vaccination
- Typhoid (Typhim VI) vaccination
- Vaccinations for hepatitis A and B (if you are going into the desert or the Atlas
mountains).

Climate
The temperature can go above 30°in the daytime and is cool in the evening
(between 10 and 17°).
Personal equipment
Your luggage should only include 2 bags : 1 small backpack and one 1 holdall.
1 . The small backpack
This is the bag which you will keep with you in the aircraft cabin and which you will have
with you in the 4x4. It should contain any fragile items and everything that is required
from when you check in your luggage at the departure airport and the moment you
collect it at the destination airport.
2 . The holdall
The holdall will travel in the hold of the plane. (Due to new security measures regarding
the content of hand luggage, there are restrictions regarding liquids: please read the
information below).
Note: Please put all sharp objects in the checked in bag.
• During the tour, the bag that you carry will contain all your things for the day.
• At the destination, the guide will tell you what you need to take for each stage of
the journey.
New hand baggage security measures
• At the security checkpoint you should present your bottles and tubes (each less than
100ml) in a clear transparent re-sealable bag approximately 20 cm x 20 cm.
• What items are banned?
Liquids, aerosols, gels and pastes: mineral water, perfume, drinks, lotions, creams,
shower gel, shampoo, mascara, soups, syrup, toothpaste, liquid soap, deodorants, etc.
• What is the maximum size of each bottle or tube allowed in the cabin?
All bottles must be no more than 100 ml.
• How big should the plastic bag be?
The plastic bag should be transparent (like a freezer bag) and should measure
approximately 20 cm x 20 cm. One bag can contain more than one item, tube, bottle
or aerosol.
• Where can you get a plastic bag?
You can purchase a plastic bag (freezer bag type) in shops and supermarkets. Most
European airports also have plastic bags available at the security checkpoints.
However, as this is a service offered to passengers and is not compulsory availability
of bags is not guaranteed everywhere or all of the time. We advise you to make your
own arrangements before leaving home.
• Are there authorised exceptions?
- Liquid medicines
You can carry liquid medicine onto a flight (insulin, syrups, etc.) if you are able to
provide a letter in your name from your doctor or prescription to the security staff.
There are no restrictions for solid medicines (pills and gel tablets).
- Liquid food for babies
There are no restrictions for these products. Remember to take re-sealable containers
as you may be requested to taste the foodstuff!
Passing through airport security
• Take off your coat or jacket.
• Present the following items separately:
-All large electronic items: laptop, large digital camera, DVD reader, etc.
-Plastic bag containing bottles and tubes.
-Medicines with prescription or letter of approval.
-Liquid baby food.
-Any purchases from airport shops which have been sealed in a plastic bag by the
salesperson. Note : not all shops offer this bag.
• Ask before you make any purchases. Purchases of liquids after the security check are
not subject to security checks and but are limited by customs.
• Also, be aware of connecting flights: ask before making any purchases.
Tip: Include as much as possible in your checked in baggage and only carry things that
are absolutely necessary for the journey trip in your hand luggage.
Clothes / Shoes
NOTE: Modest clothing is required!

Photos / Vidéo
No filming or photography is allowed in and around airports and military bases. Do not
forget to request permission before taking photographs or filming.
Mores and customs
The population is traditionally Muslim, and behaviour should be respectful of the
customs. Modest dress is required during your journey by 4x4.

Prices are subject to availability of airline and land transport at the time of booking
confirmation.
Air taxes are subject to modification by the airline company without warning until the
ticket has been issued.
Included in the cost:
• Flight Paris Orly / Ouarzazate with Royal Air Maroc.
• Transfert airports by minibus (If you arrive or leave on other schedules that the group,
the supplement transfer to be planned, to consult us).
• All transfer by 4x4 day 2 and 3 (Five persons by vehicle including the guide).
• Accommodation:
- 2 nights hotel 4 stars in double or twin room with breakfast and diner,
- 1 night in double tent (igloo type) with mattress and sleeping bag and sheet of bag
(2 people by tent).
• Chemical WC Tent (1 tent for 10 person).
• Food: from diner day 1 to breakfast day 4 (lunch in restaurant or picnic) : 2 diners
at hotel days 1 and 3, diner day 2 and breakfast day 3 at self service MARATHON
DES SABLES.

• Support personnel: our team of French speaking Moroccan guides, experienced in
the MDS, from day 1 to day 4.
Not included in the cost:
• Compulsory ‘Tranquillité’ insurance policy (cancellation, repatriation, lost and theft
of baggage…) : + 4% of the total holiday cost.
• Gratuities and personal spending.
• Drinks on days 1 and 4, drinks on lunch day 3, the drinks of the dinner day 3.
• Single supplement for the whole weekend (3 nights) : 165 €;
• Single supplement half board for 2 nights Ouarzazate hotel**** : 60 € .
• Additional night in the hotel in Ouarzazate: 50 €/person half board in double room.

• Additional transfer between the hotel and airport in minibus : 20€ / personne
(if you arrive or leave with a flight different from the group).
• The supplement for the runner wishing to join his(her) conjoint at night of day 3:
125€. If nights 1 and 2 in single room, the additional supplement for night 3 with
runner will be 25 €. (Supplements to be paid by the conjoint).
• Everything else that does not appear in the “included in the cost” section.
• Financial participation Stage Charity: 100€ by adult and 50€ by child under age 16
(necessarily accompanied with an adult). Obligatory exemption to sign.

Cancellation conditions
• More than 60 days prior to departure date : 5% of holidays cost with a minimum of
200€. These charges are non-refundable by the cancellation cover in the insurance
that we offer. Cancellation between 60 to 31 days prior departure : 15% of holidays
cost.
• Cancellation between 30 and 21 days prior to departure : 35 % of holiday cost
• Cancellation between 20 and 14 days prior to departure : 50 % of holiday cost
• Cancellation between 13 and 7 days prior to departure : 75 % of holiday cost
• Cancellation Less than 7 days prior to departure : 100 % of holiday cost
The general and particular conditions of sales govern the relationship between travel

In partnership with MDS, a new charity started up on 8 October 2008: Solidarité MARATHON DES SABLES, which runs a project to support
children and disadvantaged people in the areas of health, education and sustainable development in Morocco. The project’s targets are
to teach fundamental, universal values through sport from a very young age, raise health and hygiene awareness among mothers and
give them reading and writing lessons, via two associations: Sport Eveil Académie (body awareness for 3 to 5-year-olds and initiation to
athletics for 6 to 11-year-olds) and Femmissima (raising children, health and hygiene).
