A new freedom
of choice
For the adventurer, the challenges are now greater
than ever. Suzuki Grand Vitara meets those challenges
with a power of choice; new engines from 1.6 to 3.2
litres, including an efficient 1.9 litre turbo diesel, all
developed and finely tuned to offer better economy
and lower emissions without sacrificing performance.
You can also choose a 5-door or 3-door Grand Vitara,
each model generously specified to meet your every
need and designed to take you wherever you choose
to go. With new Grand Vitara, the choice is yours.
Ready for anything
You choose an off-road vehicle for a very good reason; from time to time
you want to venture off the beaten track. New Zealanders are lucky to have
so much adventure so close to home. It makes perfect sense to make the
most of it. A trip to the snow, into the outback for the best fishing spots,
or just exploring with the family, you need a vehicle you can rely on in all
situations. Grand Vitara’s off-road ability is legendary, thanks to forty years
of 4WD experience. No matter where you want to go, if your Grand Vitara
can’t get you there, chances are nothing will.
Safety and Traction from 4-mode 4x4
The Grand Vitara’s 4-mode 4x4 system transmits power to all four wheels at
all times, ensuring positive traction regardless of the road surface. A switch
built into the centre console lets you quickly and easily change between 4H
(high) for most driving conditions, 4H LOCK for serious off-roading, 4L LOCK
(low) for extreme surfaces, and N (neutral) mode. Switching to N mode frees
the transmission for safe and effortless towing of your Grand Vitara.
Cruise control switches positioned on the front of
the steering wheel are easy to find and back-lit
for even easier operation.
High-quality audio systems
Good sounds are assured from a multi-speaker
surround sound audio system with back-lit steering
wheel controls for easy, safe operation on the move.
Air conditioning is fully automatic to ensure the
ideal cabin ambience in all driving conditions.
A central floor console provides convenient
storage as well as featuring a sliding lid/armrest
for comfort.
Grand Vitara Ltd models come with the added
luxury of a sunroof.
Noise reducing and vibration absorbing materials
have been used extensively throughout the body and
chassis. Combined with the rigidity of Suzuki’s unique
built-in ladder frame, these measures enhance
passenger comfort and increase all-round driving
pleasure in a variety of driving situations.
Split rear seats can be separately reclined for individual passenger comfort, or tumbled forward to allow
more cargo space.
Freedom for mind, body and soul
Grand Vitara’s spacious cabin is well matched to its sporty exterior styling. Its
smart, dynamic layout is both reassuring for the driver and relaxing for passengers,
with many practical features to make a long journey more enjoyable. Seats are
covered with quality fabrics and feature a wide range of adjustments to allow
for varying body sizes, and to maximise interior space. Climate-controlled air
conditioning maintains a perfect temperature and keeps the interior fresh.

The secret of Grand Vitara’s legendary strength and stability lies in its unique built-in ladder
frame, which as an integral part of the monocoque body, increases rigidity and durability without
significantly adding to the overall weight. This lightweight, one-piece body reduces annoying body
squeaks often associated with all-terrain vehicles and allows for more cabin space despite the
vehicle’s high ground clearance. The fully independent suspension further enhances resistance to
twisting and flexing while contributing to linear response. The result is smoother handling, better
on-road cruising, impressive off-road traction and greater safety.
Ant-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic
brake-force distribution (EBD) and brake assist
function are standard for all models.

ensures sure-footed handling and response.
Reassuringly safe and sound
To enjoy your adventures, you need to be free from worry. Suzuki Grand Vitara
surrounds you with the peace of mind that comes from superior safety and built-in
occupant protection. A combination of active and passive safety measures make
this Grand Vitara safer than ever, not only on the open road, but off-road as well.
New Grand Vitara is designed to take you safely anywhere you choose to go.
SRS front dual airbags with seatbelt pretensioners
and force limiters are standard. SRS side and
curtain airbags are also fitted to most models.
Head impact protection built into all pillars and
upper cabin surfaces helps to reduce head
injuries in the unlikely event of a collision.
Hill hold and descent control enables smooth
and steady descent at the push of a button,
maintaining low speed without needing to touch
the brake pedal (3.2 V6 Ltd).
3-point ELR seatbelts are fitted for all rear seat
passengers (5 door shown).
ESP® (Electronic Stability Programme) is fitted to
most models and supplements Grand Vitara’s inherent
stability by combining three major functions: ABS with
EBD (Electronic Brake-force Distribution), traction
control and stability control. With ESP® various
sensors determine and hold the intended cornering
line, greatly improving traction and stability while
reducing front and rear wheel slip for enhanced

responsibility; respect for the environment and regard for the future of the
planet. Grand Vitara offers a real choice of power to take you to the places
you want to go with more efficiency and less harmful emissions, yet with no
compromise in the kind of performance you demand.
Petrol engines include a 3.2 litre V6, 2.4 litre,
2.0 litre, and 1.6 litre versions.
Your choice of power
Engine choice comprises a newly developed and very powerful 3.2 litre V6, as well as a new
2.4 litre petrol, both featuring advanced variable valve timing (VVT) technology for increased
torque and fuel efficiency. Also available is the 2.0 litre petrol, tuned for greater efficiency.
Heading the 3-door line-up is the sporty 2.4 litre automatic along with a 1.6 litre VVT model
with manual transmission. There’s also an improved 1.9 litre direct injection (DDiS) turbo diesel
5-door for the ultimate in power, economy and reduced emissions.
The 1.9 litre DDiS turbo diesel engine is the
ultimate in power and economy.
