Summary of Doctoral Research and Areas of Expert Knowledge:
My five-year doctoral research investigated the way thinking processes, concentration and attention
change across human pregnancy. To undertake this research a strong background was essential in
gestational hormones, women’s health and sexuality, conception, sexual differentiation, sexual
development, psychosocial and cultural factors surrounding reproduction, fertility, pregnancy,
parturition and postnatal care. Our results have been published and preliminary findings were
presented at the Annual Meeting of the Society for Behavioural Endocrinology in Lisbon, Portugal in
2004.
