First estabblished in 1985 5, Mike, Mary, Billy, B and Peggy, nurtured the Academy A into on ne of the largest and most deco orated dancing sschools in the Chicago C Area. Over O 25 years, the Mullane Academy A has w won 5 World Championship C tittles, 26 North A American Cham mpionship titles, and countless Regional R titles. Michael Mullane e is the Preside ent Emeritus of th he Irish Dance T Teachers Asso ociation of North h America. Ma ary Alice and Peggy P both workk diligently with h solos and teams within the A Academy perfe ecting our teams s for performance e and competitio ons. When not tteaching dance, Mary and Pegg gy both teach scchool at a local Catholic gramm mar school. With great pride, the tradition off teaching is no ow being passe ed down to thee second gene eration of Mullan ne teachers with World Champio on John Godleyy TCRG and Bre endan Mullane bringing b their ennthusiasm to the e Academy. GAR RY HEALY AD DCRG In 20 002, Gary Healy y, began teaching in the Chicago o area and in a very short spac ce of time, his co ommitment to eexcellence transfformed dancers s onto the intern national scene winning w Regiona al, National and d World titles for both solo and d team events. At A the age of eeighteen, Gary m moved from Birmingham, Engla and to Glasgow w to study law att the prestigious University of Glasgow Law Sc chool, where he graduated with honors in European Union Law w in 1997. Gary y is a licensed atttorney. As a dancer, d Gary ha as won the All-S Scotland, British National, Greatt Britain, All-Irelland and retire ed from compettitive Irish danc cing in 1998 afte er winning the Senior Men's World W Champion nship title. As an a accomplished d lawyer, Gary iss a practicing atttorney. ÉAN NNA RYAN TC CRG and JOH HN GODLEY TCRG T In ad ddition to countle ess other titles, Éanna É Ryan is a 4-time World C Champion. Borrn and raised in Galway, Irelandd, Éanna dance ed professionally y for many seaso ons as principall dancer and dance captain at Busch B Gardens VA and FL. He e is currently purrsuing an advannced degree in C Chicago while assisting at the Mullane M Healy Godley G Academy. John Godley y is the 2010 W World Champion winning the Grrand Slam that yyear: Regionall, All-Ireland, All--Scotland, Grea at Britain, and World Wo Champions ship. John recen ntly received hiss CPA accreditattion and works fo or a major accou ounting firm. SHA ANNON MALO ONEY TCRG and a NORA FO OX TCRG and d BRENDAN MULLANE Shan nnon Maloney and a Nora Fox return as Academ my teachers for tthe upcoming ye ear. Both Shan nnon and Nora area lumni of th he Mullane Acad demy and contin nued their love e for dance as instructors. Sh hannon, and N Nora are both well w decorated dancers winninng medals at th he All-Ireland and a World Cham mpionship for te eam and ceili da ancing. Togetherr, they also have e 4 North Amerrican team titles to her credit. B Brendan Mullane e also joins the Academy this year. y Brendan has h won five majjor championshiips, including the e North America an solo men’s titlle three times. ACAD DEMY CLLASS STR RUCTUREE FOR 20 015‐2016 6 Thee Academy wan nts each dance er to be comforrtable, yet challlenged in their class selection.. Since there is a great amoun nt of personal a attention in eeach class, the A Academy divides our classes into 5 differentt class selection ns. Remember the descriptionns below are general … each dancer is diffferent and therrefore an adjusttment in class m may be necesssary. If there is a question on cclass placemennt, please discu uss with the tea aching stafff. Tots: New w dancers who o are three an nd four years o of age. Dance ers who masteer the basic jigg and reel willl be movved into the Beginner class regardless of a age el 1 classes are e designed forr our Beginnerr dancers in th heir first year oof dance (exccluding Tot classses) Level 1: Leve and wish to atten nd class once aa week. Dance es taught will be the light jigg, reel, and single jig. Beginner 1, B el 2 classes are e designed fo or our dancerss who will com mpete at the B Beginner 2, (an nd Level 2: Leve posssibly have a daance or two in n Novice) and who wish to aattend class tw wice a week. Level 2 dancers should aalready havee mastered th he jig, reel, and single jig.. el 3 classes are e designed forr dancers who o compete at tthe Novice/Prrizewinner levvel at an open feis Level 3: Leve and will attend claass twice a weeek. el 4 classes are e designed for dancers who will be compe eting in Prelim minary and Op pen Leve Cham mpionships.
