It matters if this gray is ringing.
Ringing that ensues from there, comes often and before in the ears.
When has it stopped?
I can’t remember. Remember what?
Remember where you are.
Remember that and why you’re here.
Here? What put you here and what takes you to places you’ve already known
or never known or want to know of?
Of these are the places you now walk, however slow that must now be.
You’re tiring both of body and mind.
Mind what mind? What mind is still?
Still you find happiness.
Happiness is this plate set before you and after you.
After you go, it’s what you leave in matter gray that matters.
Matter not in wealth but in spirit.
Spirit, would that be the Holy Spirit or the spirit we dread to think about?
Think about what you have accomplished for yourself and the others.
The others who foolishly depend on you for their well-being.
Well-being of which I have none of which.
Which of us is the well being here?
Here I am seldom here anymore.
Anymore, I am sometimes in a place that I do not always recognize.
Always recognize that though different we are the same.
The same being we once were but now different.
Different in that we can see our surroundings in a different light than we once did.
Did we enjoy life when we could?
Could we enjoy life again?
Again and again and again this questions arrives to us.
Us being, you and me and all the others.
Others who have shared in our happiness and pain.
Pain, there it is once more lurking to kiss me once more.
More often now than not.
Not ever retreating it its quest for a kiss.
Kiss me so I might feel the opposite of a kiss again.
Again it comes looking for an opening to enter my insides.
Insides to which it may find its place to infect my spirit forever.
Forever is too long to expect me to stand this.
This being pain or force from it should not be fair to me.
Me who intends to leave in good terms.
Terms that this world has set down.
Down on my shoulders in a hard manner.
Manner that I have accepted.
Accepted for bad and good.
Good is what I do now by preparing the next poor soul.
Poor soul however rich or poor to understand.
Understand, there is much to be said for where I am at.
At the point where I am at.
At the point where I could turn in either direction at a moments notice.
Notice I have chosen to stay in my place.
My place is here with humans and wait.
Wait until someone higher than I makes the decision.
The decision that never comes easy even to the ones living.
Living with the thought they have driven me down.
Down is not what they should be feeling for they did try.
Try their best to understand and to pamper.
Pamper is what they did.
Did they not?
Not to hurt but to help.
Help me feel better about myself.
Myself is what you make yourself, and I have been there before.
Before I was here. Here I will stay.
Stay I will as long as I can.
Can you understand now what you have done for me now?
Now, however long now is, I will stay with you and be with you.
You who have heard of my illness.
Illness is not the right word for this matter.
Gray matter or matter not which is it?
It is not as a sickness would be painful in a different way.
Way as in bleeding or tumor or loss of loved ones or there about.
About inner self it is.
It is of yellow when gray, yes and even of yellow when gray or blue.
Blue has even its place in this mind.
This mind still finds peace at its worst.
Worst though it is for the ones around us.
Us, unlike me, suffer more from my blandness than I.
I who once had deep of death, now have more thoughts of life.
Life is what has given me what I have.
I have now hope to share what I have with you.
You who may feel and I once did and could once more.
More not than often now.
Now I hang my head more in shame than in rope.
Rope has a way of becoming a noose, the grip of burdock to gray cotton pants.
Pants lifeless legs at last.
Last stumbled for eternity then, then stumbles for eternity now with lesser fabric
of knees.
But with grayer mind comes greater soul.
