E-letter March 2004- Railways E-LETTER March 2004 BCD News Occasionally during a firm's operations you are blessed with an employee who significantly furthers the organization's capabilities. One such employee for Burns Cooley Dennis (BCD) is Mr. Doug James. Mr. James has been with us since the early days and is responsible for establishing the construction materials testing side of our business, and has gained respect from many of you, our clients. Mr. Larry Singleton, Architect, stated, "I have always found Mr. James to be exceptionally knowledgeable and experienced in his field." "I have been involved with several projects over the last 10 years with Doug James, including the Jackson Airport, Nissan site work, and Ergon projects. Doug is very knowledgeable in what it takes to start and complete a successful project for both the owner and the contractor", said Mr. Tom Elmore, President of Eutaw Construction. We take this opportunity to recognize Mr. Doug James and thank him for his exceptional service to BCD over the years. Highlighted Service - Railways A very important service area BCD has promoted in recent years is railway transportation. BCD has worked on a large number of projects for Canadian National-Illinois Central in its Gulf Division ranging from St. Louis, Missouri, through Tennessee and Mississippi, to New Orleans, Louisiana, and Mobile, Alabama. Kansas City Southern also represents a recent railway client. BCD provides geotechnical investigations for bridges and rail yards, dynamic pile testing (PDA) and pile integrity testing (PIT), construction monitoring and testing, and special consultation on emergency matters such as slope failures, culvert ruptures and bridge bent undermining. BCD supports its railway clients and strives for continued technical improvement by being active in the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-ofWay Association (AREMA). file:///C|/DIG_Clients/Burns%20Cooley%20Dennis/Old%20HTML/e-letter%20March%202004.htm (1 of 3)4/26/2007 9:58:19 AM E-letter March 2004- Railways We hope you enjoyed this issue of the BCD eletter.
