Dear EDC Members, Partners & Friends,
Forward to a Friend
Now that Spring 2014 has arrived,
the tourism industry in Myrtle
Beach“America’s Beach”
is beginning to rev up. The Grand
Strand remains one of the top 5
destinations in America with over
fifteen million visitors per year.
The aggregate economy in the
Myrtle Beach area is beginning to
fire on all cylinders with record enrollment at our
university and technical colleges, major investments in
transportation and healthcare, a resurgence in
residential and commercial real estate, and new, non
tourism jobs being developed through the Myrtle Beach
Regional Economic Development Corporation. 2013
was the best year for job creation in the EDC’s history
with over 950 new announced jobs. The rising tide will
continue in 2014 with new announcements in aerospace,
manufacturing and technology. The momentum has
already begun with the announcement of Accent
Stainless Steel out of Abbotsford, BC, Canada locating a
North American Headquarters and 70 new high skilled
manufacturing jobs to the community. Accent Stainless

consisting of over 30 site selection consultants,
corporate heads of real estate and operations
managers, and CEOs from all over North America. The
EDC recruitment team will also visit the Pacific
Northwest, the Northeast, and the Midwest in 2014 in an
effort to continue aggressively marketing the Grand
Strand to corporate decision makers. Our current
pipeline of projects remains strong, consisting of
advanced manufacturing, aerospace components,
specialty manufacturing, and companies associated with
the gun manufacturing industry. If you are a consultant,
please contact us and let us share the reasons why
South Carolina is leading the country in manufacturing
growth. If you are a local economic development
stakeholder, we are so grateful for your support. Stay
tuned for more good news in economic development on
