About Ludlow Castle
The construction of the privately owned Castle
began in the late 11th century as the border
stronghold of Roger de Lacy, a marcher Lord.
The castle was then enlarged into a palace in
early 14th century.
The Castle’s long history is reflected in its
varied architecture: Norman, medieval
and Tudor.
In 1811, the ruins were purchased from
the Crown by the 2nd Earl of Powis, in the
ownership of whose family it still remains.
The Beacon Rooms offer a variety of wedding
options; our Wedding Coordinator is always
on hand to offer friendly advice and support,
with a wealth of local knowledge on local
suppliers, services and produce. We can tailor
your wedding to suit your choice, small and
personal or grand and bespoke.

throughout the Castle and grounds.
On approaching the castle you take the gravel
drive to the immediate right of the main castle
gate. The Beacon Room entrance is up a gravel
path to the arched stone entrance.

The Civil Ceremony
at The Beacon Room
There are two licensed rooms within Castle House in
which your Ludlow Civil Ceremony can be performed.
The Beacon Room; seating a maximum of 100 guests.

The Library small and personal for a maximum of
8 guests.
The date of your ceremony is dependent upon the
availability of the local Superintendent Registrar who
can be contacted at the Shropshire Registration Service
on 0845 678 9016.

in the grounds
We can tailor your wedding to suit your
needs. You can choose to have your civil
ceremony in The Beacon Rooms and have
an additional marquee in the grounds.
We can then rearrange The Beacon Room
after the civil ceremony to accommodate
dancing or for you to have your buffet
meal served. This option can be tailored to
suit your individual needs, with the use of
the kitchen if you wish; there is the option
to have a package that includes the Prince
Arthur and Catherine Apartment for the
bride to prepare before the wedding and
to stay the night after the wedding.

How to find us
The Castle is situated in the centre of Ludlow Town, where there is a
public car park.
When approaching Ludlow on the A49, follow the signs for the free
Park and Ride car park. There is a fast and frequent service into the town;
the drop off point is in Castle Square – a 30 second walk to the Castle.
Ludlow is situated on the A49. From Birmingham, head west on the A456
through Kidderminster. From the M5 leave at Junction 3 and continue on
the A456 through Kidderminster. For those arriving by train, there is a fast
and frequent service to Ludlow.
