Wild Aire Farm Wild Aire Farm is a private Thoroughbred horse farm in Lexington, Kentucky dedicated to breeding thoroughbred horses for race and sport, their aftercare, rehabilitation and analysis for future endeavors. Wild Aire implements a "whole horse" approach to rehabilitative conditioning and restorative healing for the equine athlete with Class IV Laser therapy, acupuncture, chiropractic and nutrition complementing traditional veterinary and farrier support. Veterinarian referral for all breeds and disciplines. New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program was founded in 1992. New Vocations has become the largest racehorse adoption program in the country and has facilities in: Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. The program’s mission is to: rehab, retrain, and rehome retired racehorses. In 2013 the program took in over 400 retired racehorses. Working directly with owners and trainers, who need aftercare for horses leaving the track, the program currently receives horses from more than 30 racetracks. New Vocations has a sound adoption system that is proven to move a large number of horses in a relatively short period of time. The program focuses on adoption rather than retirement, believing that each horse deserves to have an individual home and purpose. www.newvocations.org Proceeds to Event Benefit Retired Project AmWest Entertainment LLC AmWest Entertainment's mission is to provide a source of enhanced wagering into U.S. track pools through offering U.S. and international players the most advanced online wagering system and tools available in the horse racing industry. He brought two ex-racehorses named Ying Yang Yo and Neville Bardos when he showed up here and the rest is history. Those horses made Boyd an American sensation, and his dual citizenship allowed him to represent the United States at both the World Equestrian Games and the Olympics. He had reluctantly declined an invitation to participate in Thoroughbreds For All when his plan was to ride four horses at Rolex, but after breaking his leg a few weeks ago he generously volunteered his services to honor the horses he so reveres. Linda Zang Linda Zang is best known as America's most respected international dressage judge and a veteran of the 1980 Alternate Olympics. Her work as a clinician and instructor, however, have gained her a loyal following both in the dressage world and in eventing where she has instructed many of our top riders. Linda's passion for Thoroughbreds comes not only from working with them in her sport, but also from her involvement with racing through her deceased husband, Thoroughbred trainer Jim Lewis. Lynn Symansky Lynn Symansky and her Thoroughbred ex-racehorse Donner (Smart Gorky as a Maryland racehorse) helped the United States win gold at the 2011 Pan American Games, placed fifth at last year's Rolex CCI****, and are on the short list to 5 represent the United States at this summer's World Equestrian Games. Donner is not entered at Rolex this year but has the honor of performing the test dressage ride at the start of the competition. Thoroughbred exracehorses made Lynn's career and she is proud to be proving to the world that they are still top contenders on the international stage of her sport. Jen Roytz Jen Roytz is freelance writer and communications professional in the horse industry. She writes the weekly columns "OTTB Showcase," which features off-track Thoroughbreds and how they transitioned from racetrack life to their second careers, for the Paulick Report and "Hero of the Horse," which highlights people in the Thoroughbred and sport horse industries who are working on behalf of retired racehorses, for the Horse Collaborative. Jen was previously the marketing and communications director and aftercare coordinator for Three Chimneys Farm and director of public relations for Cornett-IMS, a Lexington-based advertising firm. Jen sits on the board of the Make A Wish Foundation's Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana chapter, as well as the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance's advisory board. She grew up in Cleveland, Ohio riding hunter/jumpers before falling in love with the racing industry and making the move to Kentucky to attend college and ride at the racetrack in the mornings. She owns and rides Point of Impact, who retired from racing at the age of eight, and can still be found on the backs of racehorses some mornings, as her schedule allows. Daniel Clasing Daniel Clasing of White Hall, MD. Daniel scorched around the Rolex CCI**** cross country course last year on his Anglo-Arabian Houston clean and inside the time the day after riding at Thoroughbreds For All. He intends to do the same this year. Daniel was one of 26 trainers featured in the 2013 RRTP Thoroughbred Makeover and National Symposium. His blogs and videos can be read at retiredracehorseproject.org. Daniel trains out of his Yardley Hill Farm, starts lots of horses for racing every year, and has put in many hours as an exercise rider at Laurel Park. He has galloped for both Michael Matz and Tom Voss and trains in eventing with Phillip Dutton. 6 Lara Knight Lara Borson Knight of Whites Creek, TN. Lara was the head trainer for Makers Mark Secretariat Center in 2011 and 2012 where she oversaw the re-training of all of their new arrivals from racing. She recently moved her OTTB Shooby Do to advanced level in eventing and trains out of Canterway Farm. Lara was one of 26 trainers in the RRTP Thoroughbred Makeover last year and not only taught her horse to do great flatwork and jump but also did a magnificent vaulting demonstration with him on the homestretch of Pimlico Race Course. See her training blogs and videos at retiredracehorseproject.org. Rosie Napravnik Jockey Rosie Napravnik is one of the nation’s best, competing in the male dominated sport of Thoroughbred racing. The 25-year-old phenom followed up a record-breaking 2012 campaign by making history in 2013 - becoming the first female jockey ever to contest all three jewels of the Triple Crown. She teamed up with the colt Mylute to finish fifth in the Kentucky Derby, then third in the Preakness Stakes. Following those narrow misses, Napravnik rode the Todd Pletcher trained filly Unlimited Budget to a sixth-place finish in the Belmont Stakes. Rosie was the first woman ever to win the Kentucky Oaks with Believe You Can in 2012, she won the 2012 Breeders' Cup Juvenile with Shanghai Bobby. Rosie will be riding Vicar's In Trouble in the KY Derby (won LA Derby). Rosie grew up riding all disciplines, including eventing, under the tutalege of her mother, Cindy. Rosie will be appearing with her OTTB Sugar, who she rode in races and now rides in her free time for fun. Sugar also work as a track pony for Rosie's husband Joe Sharp. 7 Cathy Wieschhoff Cathy Wieschhoff is a local hero. From her Carriage Station Farm in Lexington, Kentucky she keeps a schedule that would make most people dizzy and has so for over twenty years in this business. She teaches, she trains, she competes all over the country and sometimes the world through the CCI**** level, and she still manages to lead the Mid-South Eventing and Dressage Association and serve on countless boards and committees. Cathy also participated in the RRTP Thoroughbred Makeover last year, with her New Vocations horse, Amie. Nuno Santos Nuno knows how it feels to retire from racing and start a career in dressage and eventing. He has done it himself. Nuno was assistant trainer to Bobby Frankel for eight years and galloped Fusaichi Pegasus, Azeri, Ghostzapper, and Ginger Punch. Two years ago he left racing and now trains Thoroughbreds for dressage, eventing, and showing and teaches riders how to get along with their ex-racehorses. Nuno operates Santos Sporthorses out of Loblolly Farm in Hampstead, MD. He participated in the RRTP Thoroughbred Makeover with his lovely horse Thane, and also performed with Ken's Kitten for an on-track dressage demonstration. Nuno would like to thank Ramsey Farm, owners of 2013 Top North American sire Kitten’s Joy, for sponsoring the appearance of Ken’s Kitten at Thoroughbreds For All Kentucky. Steuart Pittman Steuart Pittman trains horses and riders out of his Dodon Farm Training Center in Davidsonville, Maryland, is the founder and president of the Retired Racehorse Training Project, and is president of the Maryland Horse Council. Like many of his peers in the world of eventing, Steuart became a professional by buying, training, and selling Thoroughbreds that he acquired from mid-Atlantic tracks. After 8 decades of work with all breeds of horses, Steuart returned to his roots with Thoroughbreds in 2009 by creating the Retired Racehorse Training Project as an educational effort to increase demand for ex-racehorses in the sport and recreational riding worlds. Anna Ford Anna Ford a graduate of Ohio State University is the Program Director of New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program. A daughter of a fifth generation trainer, she is a World Champion Equestrian, has studied and instructed internationally and is Masters Certified through the Certified Horsemen’s Association. In 2008, Ford published the book Beyond the Track; Retraining the Thoroughbred From Racehorse to Riding Horse, receiving the American Horse Publications Award and nomination to the Dr. Tony Ryan book awards. Ford sits on the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance Board and is a member of the NTRA’s Aftercare Committee. The Rolex Thoroughbred Riders The Jockey Club Thoroughbred Incentive Program along with Thoroughbreds For All will recognize and award the following Rolex riders for competing on a Thoroughbred during this year's event. We hope you will join us in cheering them on at Rolex 2014!
