Gemini Technologies began in 1993, as a supergroup
of already-leading suppressor designers with roots in
the silencer business going back to 1976. Mixing this
old-school experience with modern CNC and robotic
construction methods, honest business ethics, and a
customer-first attitude, Gemtech has grown year after

with their “lifetime guarantees” came and went. You will

G-CORE

SILENCERS
The G-Core design began its life as a simple hand
drawing from one of our engineers’ brainstorming
sessions in the summer of 2013. The idea for a solid
two piece design was not something new in the
world of suppressors; however the unique use of
turbulence voids had some merit. We began modeling
this design in computational fluid dynamic software,
which engineers just intuitively know how to use. The
design proved strong and durable in the program, so
to maximize the strength and weight properties, we
used another program called finite element analysis.
It looked even more promising. The engineers had the
shop guys crank out a couple of prototypes and then
we shot them, a lot... probably in ways we weren’t
supposed to. We couldn’t break them. We rejoiced.
After our success we all had a meeting to discuss what
to name this masterpiece of silencing goodness. With
heavy debate we came up with the name G-Core.

THE SCIENCE OF SUPPRESSION
Sound is air in motion and consists
of pressure variations that the
human ear can detect. It is a form
of overpressure usually measured
in Pascals, and the sound pressure
level humans are exposed to varies
from millionths of a Pascal to billions
of Pascals. Because of the wide
range and unwieldy numbers, sound
levels are expressed as a logarithmic
ratio of the measured pressure to the
threshold of human hearing (defined
as 0 decibels or dB for short).
Firearm sounds are short-duration
pulses produced by a sudden
release of extremely high pressure
gases suddenly exiting a barrel
at the instant of bullet uncorking.
The sound produced varies with
cartridge, powder charge, caliber,
and barrel length from approximately
140 dB (.22 rifle) to over 165 dB
(centerfire rifles). As barrels shorten,
the pressure at uncorking increases
dramatically. Firearm sound levels
over 140 dB will damage hearing.
The purpose of a sound
suppressor (often called a silencer)
is to reduce the high pressures
and sound levels before the gases
have a chance to escape to the
atmosphere. The simplest method
of reducing pressure is to increase
the volume from that of the weapon
bore by attaching a chamber with
a bore sized exit hole to the end
of the barrel. The second method
design is to provide products
that are first hearing safe and
structurally sound and secondly
as compact and lightweight as
consistent with the first priority. To
achieve these goals a myriad of
designs are prototyped and tested.

suppressors have been tested for
structural integrity by measuring
internal peak pressures and
material strengths at elevated
temperatures. Gemtech uses only
the strongest alloys of titanium,
inconel, aluminum, and stainless
steel. Material choice will vary with
the intended caliber, duty cycle,
host weapon, and barrel length.
Then, and only then, are the
designs submitted for production,
and finally laser engraved with the
Gemtech logo and serial number.
DEEP ROOTS IN TESTING:
We have been building and testing silencers for more than twenty years. Don’t
call us old-fashioned, we just believe, in order to trust the numbers being spit out
of the new pressure modeling software, you need to know the reality from real
hands-on testing. We didn’t get into to this business to sit behind a desk, we got
into it to be the best at shooting quietly.

“I want to drop you all at GEMTECH a
brief note to let you know how much
I appreciate your products. Primarily
I use sound suppressors for hunting
here in Oregon, for everything from
sage rats and coyotes in the Oregon
desert to hunting elk and deer in the
blue mountains. Although the use of a
silencer is not a necessity, using them
on my firearms has vastly improved
my skills as a shooter. I find that I am
a more relaxed, focused shooter while
practicing and when It is time to take
a critical shot in the field. I have also
found that the speed and precision
of subsequent follow up shots (that
are sometimes required on big game)
has improved with the use of sound
suppressors on my large caliber rifles,
allowing me to truly focus on the shot.

“I am a 3-gun competition shooter, and I shoot several rifle
calibers with Gemtech suppressors, as well as .22LR on rifles
and pistols. Shooting .22LR suppressed is great for training
and makes instructing much easier without all the hearing
protection normally needed during a day at the range. I was
amazed by the amount of noise reduction using my Gemtech
