Quick Reference Card
Installing on Windows 8.1
Overview
The browser-based iDCRI, also referred to as Citrix, enables authorized users to access DCRI resources from a remote location.
This quick reference card details how to install required software from the iDCRI website on a Microsoft Windows 8.1 computer.
Technical Requirements
The Allowed Sites - Add-ons Installation dialog opens.
To access DCRI resources through iDCRI/Citrix, your Windows
8.1 computer must have:
• A valid Duke-issued NetID—called a User name in
iDCRI—and network password.
• A high-speed Internet connection (wired or wireless).
• The Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) feature enabled.

• A recent version of Mozilla Firefox (preferred) or Microsoft
Windows Internet Explorer.
Installing iDCRI Software with Firefox

c Click Options.
The Options dialog opens.

e At the top, ensure the Warn me when sites try to install
add-ons checkbox is selected

h Click Allow.
The address drops to the larger box on the page.
i Click Close.
The Allowed Sites - Add-ons Installation dialog closes.
j On the Options dialog, click OK.
The DCRIconnect
portal page appears.
3 In the list of applications, click
Citrix IDCRI.
The iDCRI software install page appears.

5 Select I agree with the Citrix license agreement.

f Click Exceptions.
g In the Address of website field, enter idcri.dcri.duke.edu.
4 Hover your cursor over Citrix license agreement, and
then read the text in the pop-up window.
d Click the Security tab.

2 Go to connect.dcri.org.
The first time you access iDCRI, the web app installs the client
software on your browser. The following information is specific
to Firefox version 37 (adjust steps, as needed, if you are using a
different version).
1 You must enable the iDCRI website to install add-ons to
Firefox.
a Important! Run Firefox as an administrator. (If you do
not do this, an additional message not shown in this quick
reference card will appear.)
1 Right-click the Mozilla Firefox icon, and then
select Run as administrator.
The User Account Control dialog opens.
2 Click Yes.
The User Account Control dialog closes as Firefox
opens.
b On the far right end of the menu bar, click

the Continue button that
now appears on the iDCRI
software install page until

The Opening CitrixOnlinePluginWeb.exe message opens.

11 Click Continue.
The iDCRI Welcome page appears.
7 Click Save File.
The .exe file downloads to Firefox’s Downloads folder.
8 Open the browser’s
Downloads folder
(click
in the Menu
bar, and then click
Show All Downloads), and then
double-click the CitrixOnlinePluginWeb.exe file.
The Open Executable File dialog opens.
9 Click OK.
• The Citrix online
plug-in installation
dialog appears.
• The dialog updates to show
the installation completed
successfully.
If the Citrix Online Plug-in Error message
appears, Firefox is not loading the plug-in correctly.
To remedy this situation:
a Cancel the installation.
a Reboot your computer.
b Open Firefox as an administrator and repeat this
procedure from Step 2.
10 Click OK.
The Citrix online plug-in
installation dialog closes. If
you still have Firefox’s
Downloads folder open, you
can close it. Only the DCRI
software install page remains.

12 Close the browser completely.
13 Proceed to either quick reference card (QRC):
• iDCRI (Citrix): Fundamentals on Windows (Employee)
for DCRI employees and contractors.
• iDCRI (Citrix): Fundamentals on Windows (Associate)
for associates, sponsors, partners, and vendors.
Installing iDCRI Software with Internet Explorer
The first time you access iDCRI, the website installs the client
software on your browser. The following information is specific
to Internet Explorer 11 (adjust steps, as needed, if you are using
a different version).
1 You must add the website to the list of trusted sites in
Internet Explorer.
a Important! Open and run Internet Explorer as an
administrator. (If you do not do this, additional messages
not shown in this quick reference card will appear.)
1 Right-click the Internet Explorer icon (if there are two
icons, use the one on the Desktop and not the Taskbar),
and then select Run as administrator.
The User Account Control dialog opens.
2 Click Yes.
The User Account Control dialog closes as Firefox
opens.
b In the menu bar, click the Tools icon

The Internet Options dialog opens.

d Click the Security tab.

e Click the Trusted Sites (green checkmark) icon.
5 Select I agree with the Citrix license agreement.
f Click Sites.
The Trusted sites dialog opens.

6 Click Install.
Warning: Do not click the
Continue button that now
appears on the iDCRI
software install page until
Step 9.
Wait for an information bar to appear across the bottom
of the page.

g Near the bottom, clear the Require server verification
(https:) for all sites in this zone checkbox.
h In the Add this website to the zone field, enter:
http://idcri.dcri.duke.edu
i Click Add.
The address drops to the Websites box.
7 Click Run.
• The Citrix online
plug-in installation
dialog appears.
• The dialog updates to show
the installation completed
successfully.
j Click the Close tab.
The Trusted sites dialog closes.
k In the Internet Options dialog, click OK.
The Internet Options dialog closes.
If the Citrix Online Plug-in Error message appears,
Internet Explorer is not loading the plug-in correctly.
2 Go to connect.dcri.org.
The DCRIconnect
web page appears.
To remedy this situation:
aCancel the installation.
bReboot your computer.
cOpen Internet Explorer as an administrator and
repeat this procedure from Step 2.
3 In the list of applications, click
Citrix IDCRI.
The iDCRI software install page
appears.
