Los Shuar - Natem Anank
Los Shuar de las Cascadas Sagradas Shuar of the Sacred Waterfalls A traditional Shuar Uwishin invites you to join him in experiencing the magic of the Amazon. Anank Nunink Nunkai is honored to invite you to travel with him to the Ecuadorian Amazon and share in the ancient knowledge of the Shuar. We will have the privilege of visiting incredibly beautiful and exotic places that most tourists would never see. For the Shuar, their jungle home is a paradise where they live among the sacred places of their ancestors. Anank is a Shuar Uwishin (traditional healer) who is continuously guided by the wisdom of his ancestors and respectfully follows their path with his healing work. He is an expert in Shuar mythology and traditional customs and would love an opportunity to share his culture with those who are interested. Our itinerary has been planned for June 5-18, 2008. This adventure will include visiting Shuar communities deep in the rainforest near the border of Peru; there we will have the honor of participating in an Uwii Namper harvest festival. We will travel to sacred waterfalls on foot and to caves via canoe. On the last day we will visit Otavalo, famous for its vast and colorful open air market. UWII NAMPER is a sacred dance ceremony that gives thanks to Arutam for a good life and a good harvest. ARUTAM is a holy spirit and hope for the Shuar. You will be permitted to participate in the dance if you should choose to do so. GARDEN OF NATEM. You will be invited to participate in this healing ceremony at two very sacred locations; the purifying waterfalls and the legendary Cave of the Tayus. These ceremonies will be led by a very powerful Uwishin and famous Shuar warrior, Wisum Kayap. CAVE OF THE TAYUS. Accompanied by Shuar guides, we will navigate beautiful rivers via canoe to visit the Cave of the Tayus where the ancestors once hunted. This cave has tunnels to other places and may be home to boas, water tigers, land tigers, and other animals. This is a magical place to do this spiritual work and receive help from the intra-terrestrials. OUR MISSION. We would like to be clear with anyone interested in joining us, that this is not a profitable endeavor for us. Our intention is for people from other countries to unite with warm and humble Shuar families and participate in their natural lifestyle first hand. We hope this experience will inspire people towards helping us preserve the Shuar culture and the awe-inspiring beauty of their rainforest home. THE NUMBERS. To cover all expenses for this trip we will require $1950 per person. This includes: transportation within Ecuador, food, hotels when needed, guides, ceremonies, canoe rental, etc. We will need to receive a deposit of $500 from six people or more by April 18th to make this dream a reality. If there any funds left over from this trip they will be donated to a Shuar village for the construction of a clean drinking water system. ARE YOU INTERESTED?
