JANUARY 28, 2016 THE OBSERVER LHP Commission Continued from pg 4 Quit Claim deeds at seawalls Commissioners approved three ordinances concerning the execution of Quit Claim Deeds for properties located at 2251 NE 32 St., 2300 NE 32 Ct. and 2250 NE 32 Ct. City Attorney Michael Cirullo explained that the quit claim deeds were needed as the residents’ seawalls were damaged during construction work on Bridge 204 by the Florida Dept. of Transportation contractor. The replacement seawalls had to be constructed on the waterway side of the original seawalls; these fall outside the property lines of the owners and create a new “sliver” of real property beyond the original property line. Commissioners unanimously approved the three resolutions. Collective bargaining mously approved a resolution approving a collective bargaining agreement between the City of Lighthouse Point and the Broward County Police Benevolent Association. Keeper Days Recreation Director Becky Lysengen updated commissioners about the upcoming Keeper Days activities, including a parade, a rock concert and more; she encouraged residents to attend the events during the weekend (Feb. 5, 6 and 7.) Artificial turf Commission Vice President Kyle Van Buskirk suggested that city staff look into the possibility of allowing artifi cial turf on peoples’ properties to save water in the community and to cut down on traffic on the roadways. City staff said they would look into the possibility and report on it. This is a very easy process designed to capture the community’s comments. As a disclaimer, I have been part of the South Working group for the past two years. Some of the RMAs are very good. Some need to be changed or removed, but all of the 68 RMAs now need your input. If you are a fisherman, diver or boater, I encourage you to take the time to read each one and comment because your ‘nautical view’ will be altered in the near future. Now, we have a brand-new TD Bank, a new Mexican place [Tijuana Taxi] where Crabby Jack’s used to be and this [Buffalo Wild Wings] at the very south end of it. Let them have their little sign on Federal. If we need a compromise, this one is most important!” he said. Battle raised a concern about “having all of these signs.” Ganz then made a motion to approve only the sign on the north side of the building.
