POINT SYSTEM
We hope that you enjoy working as a Fan Host for the
Tampa Bay Rays. You have the ability to “energize our
fans through the magic of baseball.” The most important
component to maintaining our superb customer service
depends on your attendance and punctuality for the games
that you have agreed to work. Reassigning staff or revising
13
schedules to accommodate absences/tardiness affects the
whole Fan Host team.
There are three attendance components that shape the
following guidelines. An accumulation of points may result
in disciplinary actions determined by Rays management
in its sole discretion, up to and including termination of
employment.
Call-in Less than 24 hours before your scheduled shift:
1 Point
We do understand that circumstances may arise that may
prevent you from being able to work, however we ask that
you inform us via email (swilson@raysbaseball.com) or the
fan host hotline (727-825-3214) at least 24 hours prior to
your scheduled shift.
Punctuality: 1 Point
You are expected to report to work at your assigned call
time. If you are more than 30 minutes late, you will be
penalized 1 point.
No-Call, No-Show: 5 Points
When you do not notify us of your absence it may cause
a breakdown in our delivery of excellent service. Missing
your shift without communication to Eric or Scott or a call-in
after the game has begun will be penalized 5 points. We
cannot stress enough that you follow and utilize all forms of
communication with Eric and Scott.
POSSIBLE DISCIPLINARY ACTION:
3 POINTS = VERBAL WARNING
6 POINTS = WRITTEN WARNING
10 POINTS = DISCHARGE
EVALUATIONS
Each Fan Host will be evaluated by:
SECRET SHOPPERS - Unidentified secret shoppers will
act as fans and evaluate Fan Hosts based on moments of
truths and the 6 A’s.
ERIC/SCOTT - Management will evaluate Fan
Hosts based on Rays’ Corporate Values, Attendance
& Timeliness, and 6 A’s. Low scores will result in
management evaluating individuals performance before
the 2014 season.
LEADS - Fan Host Leads will evaluate Fan Hosts based
on 6 A’s and specific feedback.
Please note that while working for the Tampa Bay Rays as a
Fan Host, we have the ability to be within restricted areas
before the fans. With that in mind, please be aware that
autograph seeking, communication, and fraternization with
players is prohibited. Also, all balls hit into the stands are
property of the Tampa Bay Rays and may not be taken for
personal use.
HAVING FUN!
•Remember to have fun while at work
- Leave your issues at the door
- Once in uniform, you’ll be on stage for all to see!
- Remember, its baseball!
•Feel free to address any issue or concern to Eric/Scott
•Deliver the Experience!
Please note that all Fan Hosts are employees at will and as
such may be terminated at any time, with or without cause,
in the sole discretion of Rays management.

largest cable-supported domed roof (Georgia Dome is the
largest). It’s made of six acres of translucent. Teflon-coated
fiberglass and it virtually supports itself with 180 miles of
cables connected by struts. Tropicana Field’s roof is slanted
at a 6.5 degree angle, dropping from 225 feet above second
base to 85 feet above centerfield wall. It is built to withstand
winds of up to 115 miles per hour.
BUILT FOR BASEBALL - Though originally built for baseball,
there have been 14 other sports and competitive events held
at Tropicana Field. These include: hockey, basketball, football,
spring car racing, gymnastics, soccer, tennis, weightlifting,
ping-pong, karate, motorcycle racing, equestrian events,
track, and figure skating.
GOLDEN SEATS - Fans at Tropicana Field will notice two
golden seats in the right field stands. The seat located in
the third row of Section 148 is the location where the first
Rays home run landed, a 2-run shot hit by Wade Boggs off
DET Justin Thompson in the 6th inning of the Rays inaugural
game, March 31, 1998. The other golden seat, in Section
144, marks the spot where Boggs’ 3,000 hit landed, a 2-run
home run off CLE Chris Haney on Aug, 7, 1999.
WHITE SEAT - Fans at Tropicana Field will notice one white
seat in the right field stands. Seat 10 located in row T of Section
140 is the location where Dan Johnson hit a two-out, two-strike,
game tying solo home run in the 9th inning of Game 162 off
NYY Cory Wade, September 28, 2011. The Rays had trailed 7-0
17
as late as the 8th inning, matching the Rays largest comeback
win ever at Tropicana Field. The Rays went on to win, 8-7, in 12
innings to clinch the American League Wild Card.

SHELTER IN PLACE
- The decision to shelter in place would be made by command
personnel and Sr. Rays Management when extreme weather
conditions and/or tornadoes are approaching the stadium
- Fan hosts should remain calm and direct fans into areas of the
stadium that have no or few windows.
- Fan hosts should familiarize themselves with areas of the
stadium that could be used as a shelter in place.
- At Tropicana Field a shelter in place could be the inner concourses, restrooms, stairwells, right field street, left field street, storage
rooms, pantries, brewhouse,….anywhere away from windows.
- Fans and Fan hosts should remain sheltered until the all clear is given.
- No one should leave the building, however do not try to force
people to stay but rather try to direct them to the appropriate area.
