DRUMHEADS THAT

To recap some of our highlights from 2015, Evans went big by going small with a
variety of 16" bass drumheads to satiate the growing popularity of subway, bop,
and breakbeat kits. Then we rocked the resonant side with
Reso 7, the first coated resonant head in the Evans
line. Biggest of all, we continued to spread the
Level 360 revolution manifesto: 360 degree fit +
manufacturing consistency = wider tonal range
so you can find your own sound.
In 2016, we’ll be building on Level 360’s
success by launching a new marketing
campaign powered by a simple rallying cry for
drummers everywhere: Set the tone. Featuring
dealer events, print, digital, social and content
executions, the campaign will focus on how Evans
heads give drummers more ways than ever to achieve
the sound they’ve imagined.
With this year being our 60th birthday, we’re giving drummers an all-new sound
palette to paint with while focusing on simplifying our own line logic. Have a
look at the handy “Evans Must Haves” section on the next page. Yes, it’s a big
line, but we want to make sure you have all the in-demand essentials stocked.

Kicking off the new sounds of ‘16, Evans will be taking the
A Train uptown to the be-bop era with a new vintage
line designed to capture the texture, warmth, and
look of calfskin while maintaining the quality and
consistency of Level 360. Warm, open, and woody
resonant bass drumheads evoke the great jazz
kick drum sounds of the 1940s, while the batter
heads deliver full, textured tones that stick and

brush players are looking for.

And finally, in further celebration of the big 6-0,
we’re bringing back an Evans classic — the Red
Hydraulic. With the same warm, easy-to-tune ‘70s
rock sound of the blue, black, and glass hydraulics,
it’s back in red for the first time in decades. Look for
more surprises like this in the future as Evans continues
to help drummers define their own sound.

Adjustable Damping) is a 10mil single-ply with

Custom Series wires feature medium-gauge wire with
evenly spaced, standard coils. The Custom line offers 4
different strand configurations that can be employed to change the
balance between the drum and snare components of the sound.
Models with more strands tend to allow the snares to be more

System Blue™ Jim Wunderlich Series
As the name implies, this series has been designed by The Blue Devils
percussion staff to be a diverse line of mallets for indoor or outdoor
percussion. The eight mallets in this line cater to a variety of players
and educators by featuring four graduated vibraphone mallets and four
graduated marimba mallets designed for use with natural or synthetic bars.
These mallets hold up to any musical demand while still achieving a true,
fundamental tone from the keyboard, and are perfect for ensembles seeking
clarity and articulation.
The Jim Wunderlich Series marimba mallets feature a rubber-like synthetic
core wrapped tightly with durable synthetic yarn on a lacquered birch shaft
for a smooth finish with maximum strength. The vibe mallets feature a rubberlike synthetic core wrapped tightly with cord on a rattan shaft. While they have
durable components for outdoor environments, the lush tone of these mallets
is an appropriate and tasteful choice for indoor concert or marching settings.

Performer Series Marching Bass Drum Mallets
Optima Series Marching Bass Drum Mallets
Performer Series Marching Bass Drum Mallets are made with select
grade American Hickory handles and a special extra-dense felt head. A
practical choice for any bass line, whether beginners, college players, or
competitive drum corps, the “Comfort Flare” grip makes them easy to hold
on to while the upward taper at the head means exceptional balance and
sound projection. The series is available in five sizes and is also available
in a soft, “puffy” version. (See page 144.)
The Optima Marching Bass Drum Mallets feature a uniquely contoured
American Hickory handle with a special weight ring at the base of the felt
head. The weight ring helps provide improved balance, increased head
velocity, and enhanced sound projection. Hard felt elliptical-shaped heads
produce a focused bass tone without denting the head.
