“Wadi El Gemal” National Park:

he GORGONIA BEACH is located inside
the Wadi El Gemal” National
Park, declared in 2003.
T
he park starts at 350
km south of Hurghada
and extends over a surface
area of 4770 sq km and
approximately 2000 sq km
of sea. The park was created
with the aim to develop and
protect the geological structure and the landscape, endemic
flora, fauna, the heritage
of a mix of Roman, Islamic
and Ababda cultures. This
unique ecosystem features a
special ecological biodiversity:
140 floral varieties, reptiles,
mammals, birds, turtles, fat
plants, hundreds of coral and
fish species, mangrove plantations ranking first among
protected plants. But also archaeological sites dating back
to different periods including
Romans who used to exploit
the local emerald mines.

he aim is to support the
local population, and
have infrastructures built
such as schools for children
who can optimize their skill
in making unique traditional
objects.

ith a view to strengthening the interactions
and integration between the
Gorgonia Beach resort and
the Park, an array of activities
are jointly developed and

in clean-up activities in areas
