ANNUAL SUPPORT
CAMPAIGN
OUR NEED FOR FUNDING
The YMCA of the Northwoods is a nonprofit organization committed to providing
affordable, high quality programs, services
and facilities to the local community.
However, program fees and membership
dues alone are not sufficient to cover
the costs involved in keeping rates low,
offering assistance to low income children
and families and continually expanding and
improving our programs and facilities. As a
result, we rely heavily on private donations
to help us meet the growing needs of the
community while maintaining affordable
rates. All funds remain in the community.
NON-PROFIT CHRISTIAN
ORGANIZATION
The Y is a non-profit Christian organization
open to men, women, and children of all
ages, races, religions, incomes, and abilities.
Anyone requiring special accommodations
or financial assistance to participate in a Y
program or activity should call us.
mind, and body.
SUPPORT OUR ANNUAL GIVING
CAMPAIGN
The Annual Giving Campaign raises funds to
support youth, family and senior programs.
Without these critically needed gifts, many
of our programs would not exist today.
Donations are received year round and make
it possible for us to:
• Enable low-income families access to
camp, childcare, aquatics and sports
• Offer stimulating activities for seniors
that allow them to socialize and enjoy
excursions
• Offer enriching programs to all ages that
allow growth in spirit, mind and body
• Funds LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA
MAKE AN ENDOWMENT GIFT
A contribution to the YMCA of the
Northwoods endowment fund signifies an
investment in the organization’s future, and
ensures that children, families, and seniors
will continue to benefit from our programs
and services for years to come. Through their
foresight, endowment donors solidify the Y’s
greatness for tomorrow by establishing a
firm gift today.

SAFETY AROUND THE WATER
Teaching children how to be safe around water
is not a luxury; it is a necessity. The YMCA’s

make sure they learn essential water safety
skills, which can open up a world of possibilities
for them to satisfy their curiosity safely.

Lifeguarding candidates for future employment.

LOGROLLING
Ages 6 - Adult
This sport will help improve balance, agility, core
strength and concentration - all while having fun!
What Is Safety Around Water?
Through learning how to perform a sequenced
set of skills over 7 lessons of 40 minutes each,
the risk of drowning is reduced, giving your child
confidence in and around water.
A typical session includes:
•Exercises to help kids adjust to being in water
•Instruction in “Jump, Push, Turn, Grab” and
“Swim, Float, Swim,” two skill sets kids can use if
they unexpectedly find themselves in the water
•Specific safety topics, like what to do if you see
someone in the water who needs help
•Fun activities that reinforce skills
Help Keep Your Children Safe
Drowning can happen nearly anywhere with
standing water. But, as a parent or caregiver,
you can’t keep your children sidelined. You need
to equip them with the tools they need to be
confident in and around water so they don’t
lose out on the health benefits of exercise, the
opportunities to bond with family and friends
and the sense of accomplishment when they
learn new skills.
Enroll in a YMCA Safety Around Water
Program Today! Available for children on free
and reduced lunch ages 4-14. Please e-mail
Mnieman@ymcanw.org for sign up information.
