The yarn amounts are based on average requirements when specified tension and yarn is used.
You will also need 1 Pair of 6½mm (UK3 – USA10.5) Knitting Needles, 1 Pair of 5½mm (UK5 – USA9) Knitting Needles, Stitch Holders and Cable Needle (for Cabled
Socks only).
TENSION
14 sts and 19 rows to 10cm, (4in) over stocking stitch on 6½mm needles or the size required to give correct tension.
Check your tension - if less stitches use a thinner needle, if more use a thicker needle.
IT IS ESSENTIAL TO WORK TO THE STATED TENSION TO ENSURE SUCCESS.

Break off yarn.
Divide for Heel
Next Row. Slip first 7 [7:7:8:9] sts onto a
stitch holder, slip next 12 [12:14:14:16]
sts onto a stitch holder for instep.
7 [7:7:8:9] sts.
With ws facing, rejoin yarn to instep edge
of 7 [7:7:8:9] sts at end of row and purl
to end, turn stitch holder around and purl
across 7 [7:7:8:9] sts left on stitch holder
at beg of row. 14 [14:14:16:18] sts.
** Change to 5½mm needles and proceed

evenly along side edge of heel, knit across
8 [8:8:8:10] sts of heel and pick up and
knit 6 [6:7:9:10] sts evenly along other
side edge of heel. 20 [20:22:26:30] sts.
Next Row. Purl.
Proceed as follows:-
1st Row. K1, s1, k1, psso, knit to last

Rep last 4 rows 1 [1:2:3:4] times then 1st

Change to 6½mm needles and cont in
st-st until foot measures 13 [16:18:

back of heel, ending with a ws row. The
length of the foot can be adjusted at this
point but allow 2 [2:2:3:3]cm, (¾ [¾:¾:
