Keeping that in view, each year, Hashoo Foundation celebrates womanhood and pays tribute to the indomitable spirit of women across its offices. In the same connection, a small gathering was arranged at core office along with all regional offices. ROR and Project Office Rawalpindi along with ROG also celebrated the Women's day. Success stories were shared followed by cake cutting ceremonies. HF-HDRC Lahore also celebrated the day with extra energy and zeal. MoU signing between Hashoo Foundation and Minorities Rights Sewa Foundation Hashoo Foundation has joined hands with Minorities Rights Sewa Foundation (MRSF) to support minorities by providing 06 months tailoring course to 50 unemployed girls residing in the Rawalpindi Division. An MoU was signed between both organizations on 4th March 2016 at HF Core Office, Islamabad. Mr. Sulaiman Dhanani Country Director Hashoo Foundation and Pandit Channa Lal President MRSF signed the MoU. Following the MoU signing ceremony, HF handed over Cheque and Sewing Machines to representatives of MRSF at Umeed-eNoor, Islamabad on 11th March 2016. MRSF received 25 sewing machines along with first trench of project funding amount by the representative of the Foundation. This one year project is aimed MRSF, with the support of Hashoo Foundation, is eager to bring a change in socio-economic status of females including minorities through training them for their livelihood. Mr. Pandit Channa Lal, President MRSF at the occasion said, “With the support of Hashoo Foundation, we are aiming to expand our operations in the field of women empowerment by teaching them different skills”. Her treatment was carried out at AKU which helped her recover in a period of one year. But due to unavailability of required medicines in Chitral, the situation reappeared again and got worse in 2013. Resultantly, HF was contacted to support her for medical treatment from AKU Karachi, after which, she got fully recovered in 2015. “All credit goes to HF and my family for their support. International Tuberculosis Seminar on Hotel Management Day Celebrated at ROR & International Opportunities Consultant briefing about the TB and its prevention and treatment. International Tuberculosis Day was observed at ROR on March 24th, 2016. This one hour session was hosted by Dr. Ali Raza Kazmi, Consultant Cardiologist FESC, FACD, & FRCS and facilitated by Ms. Aliya from Agha Khan Health Centre. Consultant briefed about tuberculosis, its diagnosis, causes, precautions and treatments to the participants present. Trainees attending the presentation by Mr. Sameer Job Placement Cell at ROR conducted a seminar titled “Hotel Management & International Opportunities” at Project Office, Rawalpindi on March 25th, 2016. Speaker Mr. Sameer Sulaiman, briefed 95 trainees of HF's Hotel Management program, in two sessions, about international opportunities in different trades i.e. Hospitality, Food & Beverages, Front Desk Management and Accommodation Services. Mr. Sameer Sulaiman is currently working as Marketing Head at J5 Hotels Dubai, U.A.E. Celebrations of Bo-Fao Festival Former Mir of Hunza leading the procession “Bo-Fao” - a traditional festival in Hunza, Gilgit Baltistan (GB), was revived after 52 years by Hashoo Foundation in collaboration with Centre for Culture and Development (CKU). A two-day event was inaugurated by Governor of GB and former Mir of Hunza, Mir Ghazanfar Ali Khan and was attended by more than 6,000 people. Participation in CKU's Third Partners Meeting The programme's third partners' meeting was arranged by Centre for Culture and Development (CKU) on Monday, 28th March 2016, in Lahore with the objectives to bring together and engage all partner organizations of the programme in an interactive and purposeful dialogue on programme Implementation review -- individual presentations of 10 minutes each made by Partners on the current status and next quarter of their respective projects. HF-UN HABITAT: Technical Damage and Needs Assessment Conducted in District Chitral HF &UN HABITAT damage need assessment teams Bo-Fao traditional dance HF's Participation in CKU Partners Orientation Workshop on Cultural Rights Mr. Amjad Ali Khan, Project Officer and Mr. Nizam Ali, MIS-MEAL Officer participated in CKU partners' orientation meeting on cultural rights conducted by Shirkat Gah (SG)-Women's Resource Centre, Lahore on 23-24th February 2016 whereas, Mr. Sultan Mehmood Senior Regional Program Manger and Mr. Imran Khan, Manager Program Development participated in the subsequent orientation session planned for 29th and 30th March 2016 in Lahore under SG. The objective of the orientation sessions was to enhance understanding of gender issues and human rights, especially cultural rights, amongst CKU partners. Hashoo Foundation and UN-HABITAT assessed the damage caused by the floods and earthquake of 2015 in District Chitral in Pakistan, focusing mainly on the housing sector. Joint teams of engineers, DRR specialist and community social mobilizers assessed the housing situation in 15 villages of 8 union councils of Chitral, which were affected by both flood and earthquake of 2015. The extent and type of damage and the priorities of needs were assessed through focus group discussions, village profiling exercises, household level damaged and needs assessments and transit walk of the village. The study concluded that the wide range of damage suffered was due to a variety of factors such as: Common construction defects which are prevailing in the area due to unavailability of the skill workers; The variety of materials used in the construction of the houses, e.g. stone house, mud house etc.; Improper site or location of the house (landslide and rock-fall area, river banks and beds). Farewell Ceremony Arranged for HG Staff Hashoo Foundation arranged a farewell ceremony on March 18, 2016 for Mr. Bashir Ahmed Adrali, Senior Vice President Operations and Mr. Muhammad Rafique, Deputy Executive Director/CFO PSL in recognition of their contributions for the Hashoo Group and Hashoo Foundation. Mr. Sulaiman Dhanani, Country Director, HF thanked the duo for their continued support to strengthen the image of not just the Group but the Foundation as well. At the end of the ceremony, tokens of appreciation were presented to the guests by Mr. Sulaiman. Mr. M. A. Another farewell party was organized for the former HMTP Trainer, Ms. Iqra Sadaf on March 16th, 2016. The Hotel management trainees prepared refreshments on their own as a token of appreciation for the former trainer. Hassan Shah receiving appreciation shield from Country Director Ms. Iqra is Hashoo Foundation's success as she studied Food Preparation & Culinary Arts from Hashoo Foundation – HDRC Rawalpindi and later on got selected as HMTP trainer pertaining to her extra ordinary cooking skills. A customized video was played with a birthday song followed by a cake cutting ceremony. Birthday cards were presented and event was thoroughly enjoyed.
