children are divided into age appropriate rooms that are
monitored by well-trained staff.

Indoor & Outdoor Pool Party all ages: 10
or more kids. Includes: 1 hour indoor pool

CAMP
Holiday Camp ages 5-12: What are kids are
going to do while they are out of school? We
schedule our Holiday Camp during school
breaks. Hours, including pre- and post-camp,
are from 7:00 am to 6:30 pm. Space is
limited; Camp is offered on a first-come,
first-served basis. From arts & crafts to
adventure activities, swimming, games and
more, Holiday Camp guarantees loads of fun
and excitement in a safe and nurturing

Summer Day Camps ages 5-17: Summer
camp, like many YMCA youth programs, is
about learning skills, developing character
and making friends. Our Summer Camp Guide

Program Statement
To qualify for enrollment, children must be able to function in
a 1:15 staff to students group setting to ensure the
safety and well-being of all children.
Hours of Operation
Y After School begins as soon as the children enter our site
and continues until 6:30 pm. Our program operates on-site

A safe and reliable after school program doesn’t have to cost
a fortune. Y After School is affordable for everyone. Each
child must have a Facility or Program Membership to
register. Program Membership cost: $40. The Y actively seeks
to identify families in need of financial assistance. Please call
the Y to inquire about our Why It Matters scholarships.
Scholarship funds are limited, so apply early.

Registration
Enrollment information may be picked up at
the Y office or click here to download them
from our website. These forms may also be
mailed or faxed upon request. Enrollment
packets may not be picked up prior to open
registration. Enrollment is on a first-come,
first-served basis and spaces are limited.
The complete registration packet, a copy of
immunization records, and payment for the
first week’s tuition must be received for
registration to be completed. If your family is
not a Y Facility Member, then the Program
Member fee of $40 must also be paid. Failure
to provide required immunization records or
payment will exclude your child(ren) from
participation.
• All children must be registered before they
may attend.
• Part-time After School is not available.
• Y After School is not a drop-in childcare
service.
• Children may only start program on
Monday.

TEENS
Adventure Guides dads with kids ages 4-11:
Dads, are you looking to spend more quality
time with your kids? If so, Adventure Guides
is for you! Adventure Guides is a father/child
program that fosters bonding opportunities
between parent and child. Dads and their kids
spend time together, having fun and sharing
experiences that lead to a better
understanding of each other and a closer
relationship. We are currently registering
dads and their kids. For more information and

Teen Board: This select group of high school teens is
comprised of officers from our various teen leadership
programs. They influence and lead our various programs to
teenagers while helping make decisions concerning the teen
center. For more information, please contact Mark Raymond

Advanced Leadership Academy ages 14-16: We are excited
to announce our newest Teen Leadership Development
program, the Advanced Leadership Academy (ALA). Join us as
we partner with YMCA Camp High Harbour to develop and
equip teens through service, adventure, leadership and
technical training skills. Participants will be given the
opportunity to develop their personal leadership skills and
explore areas of interest through participation in a variety of
YMCA programs and department areas including camp,
sports, wellness and membership. Applications available
online in January. Meets once a week
Y-Leaders high school students: Y-Leaders is a community
service, leadership development teen group that volunteers
in the community and goes on fun retreats. These teens
strive to grow in the leadership and service to others. For a

Bake Sale: Our Seniors host a bake sale to support the Y’s
Why It Matters Annual Giving Campaign.
Why It Matters Annual Giving Campaign Kickoff: Bring the
family to help us kickoff our annual campaign with a bang!
MARCH
Easter Egg Hunt ages 8 and under: Hunt for prize-filled eggs!
Bring your camera and Easter baskets. Held inside if it rains.
Please arrive on time as this is a fast and furious event. Don’t
miss the fun!
APRIL
Healthy Kids Day all ages: This annual event is our national
initiative to improve the health and well-being of kids. Bring
your kids for a fun-filled few hours of games, arts & crafts,
snacks and more.
MAY
Kids Mud Run all ages: Join us for some muddy fun! The Mud
Run course is .8 mile over obstacles, through mud, inflatable
slide and water dash. There will also be other fun activities,
drinks and snacks.
Mom & Me all ages: This family event is a fun way to spend
time with mom. Come make Mother’s Day gifts, enjoy games
& snacks and have a special photo opp. with mom.
JUNE/JULY
Flix & Floats Family Nights: Come watch kid-friendly movies
throughout the summer on select Saturday nights in our
outdoor pool. Pizza available for purchase.
SEPTEMBER
Scarecrow Building in the Garden: Join us to create your
very own scarecrow or scarecrow family! We’ll provide the
bales of hay, and you bring the rest of the supplies you’ll
need. Expert staff will be on site to help.
Paws in the Pool: Bring your dog and doggie toys to the Y to
play in the outdoor pool. Free for up to two dogs per facility
member.

OCTOBER
BBQ & Bingo: Come enjoy the fun at this
annual Senior event.
Monster Bash: Dress in your favorite
costume and come enjoy a fun afternoon in
the Teen Center to party to some fun music,
eat some yummy snacks, play games, do a few
crafts and dance, dance, dance.
Pink Out Days: Wear pink to honor the
survivors and remember those we’ve lost to
breast cancer.
NOVEMBER
Fall Festival: Bring your family to enjoy cake
walk, fall crafts, face painting, balloon art,
corn hole, turkey bowling and more.
Knit Wits Sale: Our Senior Knit Wits holiday
sale to benefit the Y’s Why It Matters Annual
Giving Campaign.
DECEMBER
Christmas Tree Lighting: Come visit with
Santa Claus, enjoy hot chocolate, make a
holiday craft and kick off the holiday season
with our tree lighting.
Gingerbread Jubilee: This event is a must for
all families! Join in on the fun in our Teen
Center Lobby as we will have gingerbread
crafts galore, gingerbread house decorating
and much more.
Senior Holiday Events: Our Seniors host a
holiday luncheon and caroling around the Y.

Swim Lessons
PARENT/CHILD CLASSES
ages 6-36 months with a parent
Children will have fun while becoming more comfortable in
and around the water, while parents learn how to teach their
child aquatic skills and how to be safe. Songs and
developmentally-appropriate games are used to teach basic
movements in the water such kicking, arm strokes and
blowing bubbles, encourage socialization with other families
with children of the same age. Parents do get in the water
with their children. Swim diapers and plastic pants are
required for children that have not yet celebrated their 4th
birthday. 30-minute classes.
Parent-Tot ages 6-23 months: Game playing, songs, and
blowing bubbles. We emphasize water safety, water
adjustment skills, and basic swim movements.

Two Much Fun ages 2-4: For children who need more of a
challenge or who are trying move independently in the water.
The instructor prepares the children for the Pike classes.

PRESCHOOL CLASSES ages 3-5
Preschoolers learn the basic skills that are building blocks of
swimming, as well as pool and boating safety, and the use of
personal floatation devices. To encourage skill development,
this 30-minute class is taught by a trained instructor with a
1:4 instructor to child ratio. Classes are progressive.
Pike (beginner): Children must be comfortable without a
parent. We teach safe pool behavior, kicking
skills, putting face in the water and bubble
blowing. Children will learn to be independent
with and without a swim belt.

Pike 2 (advanced beginner): Pike 2 is a class
designed for children who have had previous
experience in swim lessons, or who are
comfortable in the water. Children will work
on front and back strokes while learning
breathing techniques with arm movements.

The purpose of YMCA swim lessons is
to develop competency in swimming, as
well as confidence and endurance. Each
class has five components: personal
safety, personal growth, stroke
development, Water sports and
games, and rescue. Each class
also incorporates character
values such as caring, honesty,
respect, and responsibility. A
variety of class times and
types are available
throughout the year to
meet your family’s needs
including morning,
afternoon, evening and
weekend options.
Eel (intermediate): Children should be able
to put face in water, float on front & back
with assistance, and swim 5 feet without a
floatation device. Children will learn arm
movements with an integrated kick on front,
back and side; float independently on front &
back for 20 seconds; bobbing, jumping in and
returning to wall independently; and
swimming 15 feet with breaths and without

Ray (advanced intermediate): The Ray level
improves skills and endurance. Children must
be able to swim 15 feet without assistance,
glide, float and jump in water unassisted.
Children will learn to front crawl, elementary
backstroke, tread water and swim 20 feet.

Starfish (advanced): Starfish is for children
who can tread water, swim 20 feet using a
modified crawl stroke and swim on back.
Children will learn kneeling and sitting dives,
water and boat safety, breaststroke, and
front crawl with rotary breathing for a
distance of 40 feet without assistance by the

Swim Lessons
YOUTH CLASSES ages 6-13
ADULT CLASSES ages 13+
Polliwog (beginner): No skills are required. By the end of
this level, students will learn front & back float; front, back
and side paddle stroke with assistance for 25 yards; and
jump in and return to side without assistance.

These lessons are 45-minutes and are taught by a trained
instructor with a 1:6 instructor to child ratio. Classes are
progressive and cover all the strokes, diving fundamentals
and water safety skills.
Guppy (advanced beginner): Children must be able to go
under water, float and paddle 25 yards with assistance. In
this level, children will learn to tread water; swim 25 yards
front & back with breathing and without assistance; learn
breaststroke and sidestroke; jump into deep end and kneeling
dives. Students can swim independently by the end of this

Minnow (intermediate): Children must be able to swim 25
yards front and back crawl, jump in deep end and tread water.
Children will continue to refine the basic stroke skills from
previous classes and learn advanced personal safety and
rescue skills. Students are able to swim freestyle, backstroke
and breaststroke independently for 25 yards by the end of

Fish (advanced intermediate): Children must be able to swim
freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke independently for 25
yards. Children will build endurance, refine breaststroke,
sidestroke, open turns, survival float, water safety, standing
dives and introduction to butterfly. Students are able to swim
50 yards freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke with open
turns at the end of this level. more info + register
Flying Fish/Shark (advanced): Children must be able to
swim 50 yards freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke with
open turns. This level will emphasize endurance swimming
and techniques that focus on the competitive strokes:
butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle. Students
are able to swim 100 yards in all four strokes with flip turns
and bilateral breathing and are able to tread water for at
least 3 minutes. more info + register
Adult: No skills required. Trained instructors
will assist all swimmers and develop a lesson
plan that will meet the swimmers needs based
on current swimming skills.
PRIVATE INSTRUCTION
Private/Semi-Private Lessons members
only ages 3+: Cost includes 3 hours of
instruction. Options: six 30-min. lessons,
four 45-min. lessons or three 1-hr. lessons.

Swim
YMCA SWIM TEAM
Sting Swim Team ages 5-18: This program is an introduction
to competitive swimming in an “everybody swims, everybody
wins” atmosphere. Coaches work on all four strokes and
techniques. This team focuses on fun, building self-esteem,
and prepares children to compete at the next level. The team
practices at the Y and competes against other Y’s in
weekend meets. Cost includes swim cap, official team t-shirt
and end of season banquet. All new swimmers must tryout.
fall/Winter: September – February
under 8: Required skills: Be able to swim at least one length
of the pool freestyle and backstroke without stopping. Kids
build confidence and refine all four competitive strokes
through drills and games, and learn lifelong skills like team
work and good sportsmanship both while practicing and
when competing in swim meets. This group is great for kids
who have been enrolled in swim lessons.
9-10 year olds: Required Skills: Be able to swim freestyle
and backstroke 100 yards without stopping and breaststroke
and butterfly 25 yards; able to perform and regularly use
skills such as flip turns, streamlining, and circle swimming.
Kids build confidence through learning about goalsetting, and
then working towards daily goals, personal goals, and team
goals.
11 & up: Required skills: Be able to swim all 4 competitive
strokes for at least 100 yards without stopping. Swimmers
will continue to development strokes and endurance.

SPECIALTY SWIM
Competitive Stroke: The Stroke class
provides a transition into our swim team. The
class refines all four competitive strokes
(butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and
freestyle). The students will begin to have
more structure training sessions that will
prepare them for the swim team. By the end
of this level students are able to swim 50
meters continuously with a variety of strokes.

Masters Swim ages 18+: Want to train for
triathlons or competitive meets or just want
to improve your swimming ability and stay in
shape? Masters is a FREE adult swim program

Safety
YMCA of the USA Lifeguarding, CPR-Pro,
First Aid, & Oxygen Administration ages
16+: Participants need to be able to complete
a physical competency requirements,
including the front crawl, breaststroke and
backstroke with inverted breaststroke kick.
Students must be on time and attend every
class meeting for successful course
completion, including CPR for the Professional
Rescuer, AED, Oxygen Administration, and
First Aid Certification Classes. This course
will require internet learning to be done
outside of the YMCA.

ASHI CPR & AED ONLY: This course teaches the skills of
Adult, Child, & Infant CPR for the general community. Ideal
for anyone just wanting to be able to save a life.

water safety, CPR, First Aid & O2) ages 14+:
This course does not provide participants
with lifeguard certification and training.

ASHI Community CPR/ AED & First Aid: Same as CPR

American Safety and Health Institute CPR for the
Professional Rescuer, First Aid, & Oxygen
Administration: This course teaches Adult, Child, & Infant
CPR skills at a slightly higher level. It also includes the skills
of Oxygen Administration and First Aid This course is
designed for Medial Professionals, Lifeguards, Group Exercise
Instructors, etc. This course will require internet learning to
be done outside of the YMCA, prior to the first day of class.
Bi-monthly, January – June
YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor Certification ages 16+:
must be certified in cpr pro, oxygen admin & first aid
prior to attending. This course will teach participants the
components of YMCA Swim Lessons and how to teach
children and adults to swim according to YMCA guidelines.

Group Exercise Classes for facility members 13 & older: We
offer a variety of group exercise classes including Yoga,
Zumba, Cycling, Boot Camp and more. Check out our online

classes provide significant cardiovascular and strength
training benefits while reducing the burden on stress-bearing
joints and muscles. Appropriate for all ages and fitness

Fitlinxx and Equipment Orientation free for members ages
Wellness coaches are available to answer your fitness
questions, provide instruction on how to use the FitLinxxTraining Partner techonology and design a safe, effective

Youth Policy Fitness Guidelines:
• Members ages 13 & older may use the wellness center
once a FitLinxx orientation is completed.
• Members ages 9-12 may use the wellness center under
direct supervision (within arm’s length) of a parent or
guardian once a FitLinxx orientation is completed. Youth
12 & younger must check in with Y staff upon arrival.
• Members ages 16 & older may use the free weight area
independently.
• Members ages 13-15 may use the free weight area with
direct supervision (within arm’s length) of a parent or
guardian, once a FitLinxx orientation is complete.
• Members 13 & older may participate in group ex classes
• Members ages 9-12 may take classes if accompanied by
an adult (Group Cycling, Body Pump, YFit, Resista/Stability
Ball exceptions).

Measure Meals, an organization that makes it easy to eat

Homeschool PE ages 5-16: Each class will
begin with a warm up followed by
cardiovascular and core strengthening
activities, from speed drills to flutter
kicks. Then sports-themed games will
incorporate balance, speed & agility and
strength to keep their heart rates up and

Preschool Basketball ages 3-4: This
program will introduce young athletes to the
basics of basketball in a safe and fun
environment. No uniform required.

Youth Basketball League ages 5-12: Teams
will work on passing, dribbling, shooting and
team offense and defense. We partner with
the Atlanta Hawks to offer two free Hawks
tickets to each basketball participant.

young athletes to the basics of soccer in a safe and fun
environment. Includes uniform, trophy and ball.

Youth Soccer League ages 5-12: Our goal is to provide all
participants a program that strives to develop them to their
fullest potential not only as a soccer player but a person as
well. We focus on offering a quality soccer experience in an
enjoyable atmosphere that helps kids progress through the
sport as they grow. An ongoing commitment to good
sportsmanship rounds out the program.

Friday Night Futsal ages 8-12: Interested participants
should meet in the gym after registering prior to your first
session. Winter
Soccer Clinics ages 6-12: Looking for more intensive drills
and skills? Looking to learn in a smaller setting the basics to
be ready for the upcoming season? This is the place. Our
skilled trainer will help with foot skills, strategy and overall
drills of the game. Summer
Pick-Up Soccer ages 12-17: Looking to stay active but have
a hard time finding a league? Join our pick up soccer
Saturday league. Fall
Cheerleading ages 4-11: Four-to six-yearolds will practice one time per week for 45
minutes. The 1st-5th graders will practice
one time per week for 90 minutes. Practices
are at the Alpharetta Y. Registration fees
includes pompoms & uniform. Participants will
cheer for basketball games on Saturdays.
Games are played at Webb Bridge MS.

OTHER LEAGUES
Youth Volleyball Leagues ages 8-11:
Designed to introduce your child to the game
of volleyball. Volunteer coaches will teach
participants how to pass, set, attack and
serve using Volley-Lites and a lower net.
Participants should wear knee pads and
athletic shoes. Uniform consists of two

Flag Football League ages 5-13: Designed to
introduce the sport in a fun and safe
environment. Practices will be held once a

Volunteer to Coach: We are always looking for volunteers willing to coach teams in many of our sports programs.
We offer assistance to ensure that each coach receives the tools needed to have a productive season. All coaches must

RUNNING
Track ages 7-18: Track practices are held 3 times a week.
Your child can attend as few or as many as you’d like.
Participants will have the opportunity to compete in 3-5

Fee covers USATF membership and entry fees into the local
area meets and USATF Association, Region, and National
Meets. Additional costs for travel to meets are the

MARTIAL ARTS
Martial Arts ages 6+: Learn Karate at the Y! Karate will teach
you to use your strength effectively, maintain cardiovascular
fitness, improve flexibility and coordination as well as tone

Open Climb facility members ages 4-100: Offered as a benefit of membership year-round.
No registration required.
Progressive Climbing ages 5-12: Level 1- 4
climbers. No previous experience or skills are
required. Learn spotting, bouldering, climbing
commands, harness & knot basics. Challenges
kids by learning new routes as they progress.
Parent/Child Climbing ages 4-12: This class
was created to provide parents and their
children an opportunity to learn basic climbing commands, harness and knot basics. The
goal is for parents to become belay certified
at the end of the fourth class.
ADULT
Pick-Up Sports free for members ages 18+: As a benefit of
membership, we offer dedicated gym time for adult sports.
