European Certification for
Logistics Professionals
The ELA certificate is available to those who are able to meet the professional standards set by the
European Logistics Association (ELA). There are three levels of competence. Logisticians who obtain
the ELA certificate are entitled to use the designatory letters after their name:
EJLog – European Junior Logistician on the Supervisory/Operational Management level
ESLog – European Senior Logistician on the Senior Management level
EMLog – European Master Logistician on the Strategic Management level
The ELA- Certificate
As a logistician, would you like to be able to demonstrate that you can perform to a common
European standard of competence in your job?
European certification will be particularly useful for all logisticians who are already working within
a European or worldwide supply-chain, or for those who plan to work outside the country. It will
prove to employers that individuals can perform to a common European standard of competence
in their jobs.
As an Interim Manager it is important that my
clients recognise that I have the knowledge and
understanding of the Supply Chain. Not only within
the UK but, as we now have daily business links with
Europe, it is a common standard recognised there too.
David Zelonka
Are
You, as an employer, interested in assuring that you hire a qualified person? Or are you interested
in developing your current personnel by bringing them to world-class competence level?
European certification will be beneficial for employers, who can rely on the competence level of the
person applying for a position or for marking the staff.
With global trade, it is important to have an international
recognition of the acquired knowledge and understanding
within the Logistics field. The ELA Certification informs
European companies that the bearer of an ELA Certificate has
acquired a standard level of knowledge and understanding in
the fields of Logistics and Supply Chain Management.

The Competence system
The ELA Standards of Logistics Competence reflect the expectations of workplace performance and
the have been developed with and agreed by industry. The Standards are outcome-based and form
the basis of assessment. Assessment is independent of any learning programmes. The European
Certification Board of Logistics does not prescribe in any way the methods or courses by which
candidates may attain or develop the knowledge and skills, however acknowledged programmes can
contribute to the development of knowledge, skills and competencies required for ELA-Certification.
The ability of candidates to meet the required Standards will be assessed by National Certification
Boards established in each member country. The national representatives are found on the back.
If interested, please contact us further information. If your own country is not represented, please
contact ela@elalog.org or the nearest country representative.
