The Penguin Class December 19, 2015 This week, we gave Bruce
The Penguin Class December 19, 2015 What’s happening in our class? Wow! It’s hard to believe we are wrapping up 2015. What a great first half of the school year it has been! December has been a busy month for the Penguin Class. We went on our first field trip of the year to Poplar Grove Plantation where we rode on a wagon, hiked nature trails, and enjoyed real life farm animals! Please view our class website for a slideshow of photos and short video clip from that fun day! Last week, we had a special guest from the library, Krista Dean, come and read stories to each class. She read books by Ellen Stoll Walsh. It was great! Finally, on the last day, we read the Polar Express and made bell necklaces. We also had our first ever book exchange and the children loved it! To view photos, please visit the class website :) Speaking of class website, please make it a habit to check the site weekly for picture updates, videos, newsletters, etc. This is something new we are trying out, so let me know what you think! You can access the class site through the Island Montessori School website by clicking on Ms. Meghan’s Class. http://www.islandmontessorischool. com/ms-meghans-class.html The children have enjoyed crafting and making beautiful ornaments to bring home for the holidays. Thank you to the parents who volunteered their time to come and help make this possible for our class! And thank you to each family for your active participation in sending in materials for our monthly activities. Have a restful and joy-filled break! We look forward to what 2016 has in store for our school. In peace, Meghan Sellers Busy at Work! This week, we gave Bruce Quillis his first bath at school and the children helped me clean his cage! In Practical Life, children have been creating ornaments, decorating Christmas trees, brass polishing, and learning how to use a medicine dropper. Our Kindergarten students have even been practicing gift wrapping, so they are ready to help out at home! In Sensorial, the children continue building extensions with the materials. In light of the holidays, they have enjoyed building a Christmas tree with the Red Rods and decorating it with the Knobless Cylinders, as ornaments!
