An Index-Linked Term Deposit is similar to a standard term deposit in that, at maturity, you are
guaranteed the full amount of your deposit. However, unlike the standard term deposit, no interest
rate is specified at the time of your investment. The rate of return depends on the increase in

4. Enter your mobile phone information

To check your account balance, simply text BAL
to 66639. Within moments, you will receive
a text message with your account balance
information.

Transaction History
To view your recent account activity, simply
text ACT to 66639 (MONEY). You’ll then receive
a text message with your five most recent

Developing a plan and sticking to it could greatly

Every day you have decisions to make. Some are smaller like deciding

will also work for you later? “Having a plan in place to meet your goals,
whatever they are, is the best way to make sure you get where you want
to be,” says Phil Streeter, GFCU financial advisor.
He regularly helps people who are looking to move into a new home and
recently had a young couple visit her looking for a mortgage. They were
in the midst of planning their wedding, and he had just bought a new
vehicle. Even though they both had full-time work, their current expenses
and wedding costs, not to mention house insurance, property taxes and
utility bills, would have made their mortgage payments very difficult
each month. “They decided to hold off on buying a home so they could
build their down payment and their RRSPs,” says Streeter. “As first-time
home buyers, they can use their RRSPs under the Home Buyers’ Plan as
down payment without paying taxes on the funds.”
“Developing a plan and sticking to it could greatly help you with future
decisions,” says Streeter. “By thinking about what’s important to you one,
two and even five years down the road, you’re able to make better choices
today that will help you meet your goals.”
He says that it’s easiest to start by thinking about some general things
that you would like to do in the next year.
“Sometimes it helps to talk this out with someone so you have another
perspective, and that’s something that any GFCU Member Representative
can help with,”adds Streeter .

E-mail money transfers are a fast and convenient way to send funds or
a monetary gift to anyone with an email address and a Canadian bank
account safely and securely using the trusted Interac© network. Send
money to children away at school, pay a bill electronically, or send a gift
to a family member or friend.
Interac© e-Transfer uses email to notify a recipient that a transfer has
been initiated, while the participating financial institution transfers the
funds using established and secure banking procedures.
There’s no need to share personal information, all you need is the
recipients email address and a security question, no personal or financial
information is included in the email.
How to send an Interac© e-Transfer
• Log in to your account
• Go to the Transfers page
• Specify a recipient
• Fill in the Interac© e-Transfer information
• Funds are immediately debited from your account
Important information
A non-refundable service fee of $2.00 will be charged for sending money
by email. The recipient’s bank or credit union may also charge a service
fee to receive the money.
Receiving an Interac© e-Transfer
When someone sends you an Interac© e-Transfer, you receive an email
announcing the transfer. The message has links and instructions
explaining how to deposit the transfer into your bank account. The
fastest and easiest way to get your money is through your online bank
account access.
1. Click on the link provided in the email (takes you to the Interac©
website)
2. Select Ganaraska from the drop-down list of participating financial
institutions—this takes you to Ganaraska Financial Credit Union Online

3. Log in to your Ganaraska Financial Credit Union Online Banking

4. Provide the answer to the security question
5. Accept the transfer
• There is no charge to receive Interac© e-Transfer through

• Typically, the funds will be immediately available.
