Advantages of place: Gayme peat bog is part of a discovery path designed for families and school children. There is a board explaining the footpath. A view of part of the Sancy Massif is an added advantage to the peat bog. Comments: The peat bog is part of a fragile ecosystem. Since then, the council has developed the site into a tourist and educational attraction. Restoration work has been done on the site: redoing the profile of the faces and drainage ditches and replenishing with water. The council has developed the educational side in partnership with the Parc Naturel Régional des Volcans d’Auvergne nature reserve and Humustar to recreate the history of working the site, its restoration and development.
