A Promising Talent, Clearly Heaven-Sent
Ms. Pristine De Guzman working on her entry for thr 9th ASEAN Skills Competition held at
Jakarta, Indonesia last 11th to 20th of November 2012
Who would ever think that such a simple
lady could create a very wonderful work
of art? However we describe it, her fashion
design are really awesome.
As a student of The School of Fashion and
the Arts (SoFA), Ms. Pristine De Guzman
proved to be a very creative designer and
remarkably skillful one. She was a consistent dean’s lister, and was chosen, together
with several others to be a part of SoFA’s
Design lab where students are mentored
to develop their creative potentials. She
also took part in different competitions
and shows which evidently developed her
potentials and pushed her upwards in the
fashion industry.
Her design were mostly inspired by what
she sees around her. As she would say,
“Inspiration has no limit; it can come out
of thin air! As long as you keep your mind
open to new, weird, exiting, unique things,
It can come at any moment, that’s why
I always carry around a notebook and a
pen. You’ll never know when a great idea
comes, so you’d better be prepared :)”
The passion Pristine had for fashion started
way back in her childhood days. She used
to sketch different designs at the back of
her notebooks, but didn’t discuss it openly
with anyone then. It was her “little” secret.
That little secret wasn’t open till she was
thirteen, when her mom revived a vintage
sewing machine she owned way back.
Curious little Pristine started to try it out
and played with it for hours. Her loved for
fashionthen became more unmistakeable.
Young as she is, Pristine has already
gathered lots of awards, both local and
internatinal, in the fashion industry. One of
which was the National Skills Competition
which was held last March 19 - 22, 2012 at
the Sister of Mary in Silang, Cavite, where
she took home the gold medal for Fashion
Technology. Her unparalleled skills in fashion led her to compete in the ASEAN Skills
Competition which was held last November
2012 at Jakarta, Indonesia.
Truly, passion can get us where we really
want to go. As Pristine should say it, “You
should LOVE what oyu do, let it become
a big part of your life. Work hard! Have
passion and dedication! Remember that in
any decision you make, ALWAYS folloe
your HEART!!”
