A story of success
With the entry into Airbus production in
1980, RUAG Aerospace Structures at the
Oberpfaffenhofen gained full design and
production responsibility for its deliverables.
Since then we ensure stable, high-quality
delivery of fuselage sections directly to the
Airbus final assembly plant in Hamburg.
System installation
For the Airbus A320 family in particular,
we integrate system components as well as
electrical installation into the rear fuselage
section.
In Aerostructures, key focal points are producing complete passenger
aircraft fuselage sections for major customers such as Airbus and
Bombardier.

To increase the Design Service Goal (DSG)
of the Airbus A320 family, a test program
for large components including e.g. a Full
Scale Fatigue Test (FSFT) has been developed. The three test sections of the A320
with its forward fuselage (NEF1), center
fuselage & wing (NEF2) and rear fuselage
are integrated into the testing environment.
Based on the results, a calculation follows to
ensure the required aircraft life extension to
be achieved. Thus, the maintenance program
as well as flight cycles and flight hours will be
readjusted.
