Dear Friends of San Juan Diego Catholic High School,
Greetings from San Juan Diego Catholic High School! As I write this, San Juan Diego
is hard at work bringing Catholic, college-preparatory education to the community in
Austin. I am pleased to present this Annual Report with the many successes that San Juan
Diego has seen in the 2010-2011 school year.
Some of our successes this year included:
>San Juan Diego Catholic High School initiated a Fund-A-Saint program which provides
tuition assistance to students in need. This year alone, donors and benefactors funded
130 San Juan Diego “Saints.” Your generous partnership with San Juan Diego Catholic
High School has helped San Juan Diego Catholic High School to continue making
private, Catholic, college preparatory education available to students who are unable
to afford it otherwise.
>In December 2010, students and teachers at San Juan Diego Catholic High School were asked to participate in a matching
gift challenge for tuition assistance. Within a week, there was 100% participation from every single student and faculty
member at San Juan Diego Catholic High School. By giving their change for change, the San Juan Diego Catholic High
School community was able to raise $4,000 for tuition assistance.
>Since the school opened in 2002, the largest senior class of 42 students graduated in the Class of 2011! The members
of the Class of 2011 received over 100 offers of admission from colleges around the country and were offered over $1.3
million dollars in college scholarships!
San Juan Diego continues to accept each motivated, hard-working student who walks through its doors. San Juan Diego’s
goal is to prepare each and every student for success while caring for their minds, values, and personal growth. These students’
opportunities in life will greatly exceed those of their peers.
On behalf of the San Juan Diego Catholic High School community, I would like to thank you for your support of our unique
mission. It is only with this support that San Juan Diego Catholic High School has been able to create an exciting opportunity
in Austin for students with the greatest financial and educational needs.
Sincerely,
Pamela S. Jupe
Principal, San Juan Diego Catholic High School

HISTORY
Archbishop Gregory Aymond recognized the acute need for
Catholic college preparatory education in Austin, Texas and
opened San Juan Diego Catholic High School in August 2002.
San Juan Diego is modeled after Cristo Rey Jesuit High School in
Chicago, and is commonly known as “The School That Works!” To
date, the school has graduated six classes of students, with 93% of
alumni presently pursuing postsecondary studies.
CORPORATE WORK STUDY PROGRAM (CWSP)
The CWSP of San Juan Diego provides students with professional
experience and subsequent career possibilities while offering the
opportunity to earn part of the tuition for their college preparatory
education. Each student is part of a team of four students who
share a full-time, entry-level position in the corporate world. Every
student works five 8-hour days per month. They develop practical
job skills and experience in a variety of industries, including law,
health care, technology, education, real estate, finance and nonprofit services. Students are formally reviewed on their performance
four times per year. In addition, students are supported in the
program through an intensive summer training program and
personal coaching administered by CWSP staff. Teamwork,
time management, personal responsibility, organizational skills,
computer applications, written and verbal communications, and
basic business concepts are integral components of the learning
experience provided by this program.
ACCREDITATION AND MEMBERSHIPS
San Juan Diego received full accreditation from the Texas Catholic
Conference Education Department (TCCED) in 2010. The TCCED
is assisted by the Texas Catholic Conference Accreditation
Commission and is part of the state-approved Texas Private School
Accreditation Commission. San Juan Diego is a member of the
Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools, the National
Catholic Education Association, the Texas Association for College
Admission Counseling, and The College Board. The school is
also represented on the board of the National Catholic College
Admission Association.
DIPLOMA
All students of San Juan Diego Catholic High School fulfill
requirements for the Distinguished Achievement diploma (30
credits) of the Texas Catholic Conference Education Department.
COMMUNITY SERVICE REQUIREMENT

generously respond to the needs of society, San Juan Diego
Catholic High School requires that every student complete a
minimum of 100 hours of service to the poor and disadvantaged
