I didn’t start becoming attracted to guys until I started the sex change. It must be the hormone treatment, I can’t think of what else it would be. You’ll find this with a lot of transsexuals. So yeah, now I like guys, girls, whatever. I’m pretty fluid in my sexuality now. I’m still a man, but the hormones have freed me. I don’t have any issues about my sexuality now, it’s pretty much whatever. Looking at your tats, muscles, and goatee, you’re more masculine than some guys I know. One might argue that your look is “hypermasculine.” Why such a tough look? I do try to shoot for that kind of look. For me, those guys were always my role models growing up. My dad was this real macho guy. Later, when I got ahold of the whole Tom of Finland thing, I knew that was how I wanted to look. I’m not saying it’s the only way to look masculine, because it’s not. But it‘s what I wanted. What’s sex like for you? Are you aggressive or receptive? I had to figure it out on my own, to invent the wheel so to speak. I finally found a doctor who would work with me and told him my story. So I went on hormones, testosterone, for a long time. Got to where I could inject them on my own. After about two years of treatment, I started looking for a surgeon who would help me with my breasts. I finally found one who was willing to try it, a surgery with minimal scarring. Today, this procedure is very popular but I was one of the first people to do it. To me, that was it. That was my sex change right there. I got a note from my surgeon that said I had sex reassignment and now I’ve had my passport and birth certificate changed. I still give myself hormone shots about every ten days. What about the penis surgery? I wanted to have it, as a lot of people like myself do. But I decided not to. I didn’t like the functionality of it. That wasn’t an easy decision for me, but I came to grips that I wouldn’t ever have one. Now I’m fully a man, with or without it, and that’s how I’m going to live my life. But you’ve obviously thought about having one before. If you could wish for a penis, what kind would you like? You want me to describe it? (Laughs.) Okay. I would want it to about seven inches longs. Kind of fat; I like fat dicks. It’d be awesome have a real big head and lots of veins. Oh, and cut. Pg. 30 I’m a very dominant guy in bed. With that said, I do receive. For me, that has nothing to do with being in the bottom position. I always feel very much in control. It’s one of the things I’m excited to share with the world: I’m a man, I have a vagina, I like to get penetrated, and yes, it feels good and no, it doesn’t make me feel like less of a man. I don’t feel like it makes me weak. For some reason there’s a weakness with being penetrated in today’s society, whether you’re a woman, or a man taking it in the ass. And there shouldn’t be. I mean, if you want it to feel that way, then that’s awesome. Go ahead. But it doesn’t have to feel that way. Do you miss anything about your female body? No. No way would I ever go back. What advice can you give to those who might be like you? To find a support group. There are so are many out there now. Get on the internet and Google it. I’m a huge fan of therapy. Find a great therapist, explore your feelings, do what’s right for you. I do discourage getting into the politics of the transgendered and transsexual communities. Stay focused on what you want, and have the change because of what you want, not what the community is telling you to do. But, teenagers who grow up gay are four times more likely to take their own lives. No, that has nothing to do with our sexuality on its own -- suicide rates are lower where gay kids are accepted. It’s because our institutions, and all too often the adults in our lives, tell us we’re not as good as our straight peers. In 29 states, it is legal for an employer to fire me for who I am. In 31 states, leaders and voters have told me that I am not worthy of the fundamental human right to marry. You want to marry because you love your Mr. Right; I have no rights to do the same. And, the consequences of this inequality are terrifying and real. For example, I can be denied access to my loved one on his deathbed. There are over 1,100 other rights that I am denied.” So, there it is. Most mainstream media outlets completely missed the story. In the case of the Topeka Capital Journal, they had the opportunity to correct it before it actually went to press, but chose not to. The motivation for this, I believe, is the need to sell papers. On August 1st, 2012, selling papers was about chicken sandwiches and people feeling good about “family values” that include prejudice, discrimination, exclusion, and inequality - but we won’t talk about that last part. This is not just a gift for MJ fans, this is a history lesson in pop music. This box set has 3 cds and one dvd. The cds have the full Bad album remastered , plus dance mixes and remakes of some the hits from Bad and also songs that were never released that were recorded for the Bad album.. I was so very happy to see what Sony was doing for the 25th anniversary. Bad 25 is a wonderful celebration of this often underrated album. Bad ended up being regarded at the time by some (sales dept at Sony), as a disappointing follow up to the bestselling album of all time, Thriller. While Thriller was certainly a hard act to follow, Jackson did so by stepping up his songwriting and producing skills. With only two exceptions (“Man in the Mirror” and “Just Good Friends”), he wrote all the songs himself. The songs on Bad helped shaped pop music to what it is today , a fusion of R&B, Dance and Rock. In addition to the song Bad, it also contains the hits, Dirty Diana and Smooth Criminal (which I feel is the best video ever made). Michael Jackson “BAD 25th Anniversary Box” Mjj/Sony Music www.michaeljackson.com By Thomas “DJ Big Daddy” Edmond This week marks the 25th anniversary of Michael Jackson’s Bad Album. Its hard for me to believe it has been that’s long. I still listen to this album faithfully. The summer the first single was released from Bad , many people shook their head and didn’t know what in the world he was doing ..Bad came out 5 years after Thriller and the first single, “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You”, was a ballad and a duet with an almost unknown background singer. On top of that, no video was released with the song, so this was really not a good move to release a major album by the world’s biggest pop star, but MJ and Sony had a plan that the song really was just a teaser to make the world talk again and get them ready for what was to be BAD the album. So this was about the time MJ took on his whole BRACE YOURSELF moniker, and after 5 years, “Bad” was ready and MJ was ready for the world. And the world was ready for Michael Jackson. So a little history lesson for the babies after Bad was released, there was a major sold out world tour (3 nights in Houston at the Summit), an autobiography (Moonwalker), a mini movie( Captain End), many awards , Neverland Ranch, and some great videos from the Bad album. Pg. 44 I’m going to jump right to the DVD, which I have watched more than the movie, Magic Mike, this week. The DVD contains a full, unedited two-hour concert from London’s Wembley Stadium. It was taped on July 16, 1988 and no one has ever seen this footage except Michael until now. It was found after he died. The fun part is seeing a 26-year-old Cheryl Crow dueting with MJ on “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You”. Crow was on the Bad tour as a back-up singer, and it was the best part of the tour. There are a few surprises in the set list, like a slamming take on the Jacksons’ 1980 hit, “This Place Hotel.” This concert is simply incredible from start to finish. It was what I remember from when I was 17 years old and, as always, Jackson literally finishes “She’s Out of My Life” in tears, and breaks the crowd down So, Bad 25 is a treasure chest, and a treat to have or a great gift. The Estate of Michael Jackson meant business when they put together this special anniversary edition. The remastered album sounds great, but the draw for fans is the additional material and seeing Jackson in his prime in concert. It’s sad that the “King” is gone but he lives forever in this box set. Long live the king ! Thomas “DJ Big Daddy” Edmond operates PrideDJsRadio.com and can be reached at DJBigDaddy@TWITmagazine.com.
