The FlexFold AT180/AT230 is an open design and can be adapted
to your specifications. Some standard options are:
• Garment folding system. Not only can the AT180/AT230 fold
all kinds of towels but also garments. Longer garments,
however, should be fed with the collar down in order to
achieve the best presentation after folding. Light or heavy
garments and even overalls can be processed.

FLEXFOLD
AT180
AT230
The Flexfold AT180 / AT230 towel folder is the perfect solution for folding and
stacking all kinds of towels, garments, fitted sheets and other tumbler dried pieces
Sensors on the in-feed conveyor detect that the operator has fed a towel and then calculates what
type of towel it is. The machine then automatically folds the towel accordingly and stacks it on the
appropriate stacker conveyor until the stack height reaches a pre-programmed number. This stack
is then discharged on to a main discharge-conveyor, which can be directed to the front or rear of
the machine as required.
The Flexfold AT180 is able to fold pieces up to 180 cms x 120 cms maximum
The Flexfold AT230 is able to fold pieces up to 230 cms x 120 cms maximum
LONGITUDINAL FOLD PRINCIPLE
The longitudinal folds are made by position controlled folding
templates in combination with a pulsed air-blast. Once the piece
enters the longitudinal fold section, the length and, optionally,
the width too, are measured. This determines the size and thus
the category of the piece enabling the folding templates to
adjust appropriately. High accuracy, pulsed air-blasts cleanly
execute the folds.
CROSS FOLD PRINCIPLE
OPERATION POSSIBILITIES
The piece then enters the cross fold section where up to two
cross folds are made by the use of reversing belts and air-blasts
in combination. Using elasticated cross fold belts not only
ensures a neatly compact, folded package, but also enhances the
flexibility of the machine to handle a wide variety of article
thickness. This also eliminates the chance of articles getting
jammed.
The in-feed conveyor operates in three, selectable modes:
• Continuous, i.e. without stopping.
• Automatic stop-start. Where the conveyor starts once the in-feed
sensor is covered by a piece. Improves feeding quality.
• Push Button start, used mostly for garments and more awkward
items.
The Flexfold AT180 / AT230 can be used for anything from small facetowels up to the largest (and heaviest) swimming-pool towels. The
unique design of the Flexfold AT180 / 230 gives it the flexibility to fold
either light or heavy pieces.
Additionally, it can fold light-garments (i.e. T-shirts, trouser, scrub-suits
and uniforms) along with fitted sheets and blankets. The Quality Stop
function allows the operator to make an additional stop to adjust the
trailing edges of more complicated pieces to improve quality.
SORTING & STACKING PRINCIPLE
After cross folding the pieces are then automatically sorted and
stacked on up to four stacker conveyors, meaning that the
operator can feed mixed batches containing up to four different
size categories i.e. Bath Sheets, Bath Towels, Hand Towels and
Bath Mats. Once the required number of pieces in a stack is
reached, it then exits onto the main discharge belt by means of a
smoothly transferring slide-mechanism.
