VOLUME 28, ISSUE 2 SEPTEMBER 2014 The Official Newsletter of Greater Sacramento #1032 The Pedal Pusher Life is like riding a bicycle, to keep your balance, you must keep moving FROM JULY BOARD RETREAT TO CHILDREN’S SHOPPING SPREE, THE 2014-2015 TERM IS OFF TO A FAST START! July Board Retreat was such a treat! After arriving to the fabulous cabin in Tahoe, we had a great night out having sushi together on Friday night, then beach day at Pope Beach on Saturday. It was great to see prospective Holly Canada out for the day at the beach and thank you for the amaz- Lauren with the founder of the Dear World movement Roger Fogerty. ing cookies! After a long relaxing day, we settled in that night for a fabulous taco bar, game night, and a photo sesh by our own talented T r a c y Teague! It was an extraordinary experience to be able to write your "Dear World" messages on each of you. I was inspired by what you all wrote and I hope you were too! Thanks to the Board and a talented Tina Lehne for making me hunt all over the cabin for my laptop to end with a beautiful mermaid tail and crown. Saturday we all woke up to the smell of yummy breakfast casseroles thanks to our VPs Lawana Welch and Brenda Lusk. After settling in, we started a productive meeting. I was nervous at first, but soon was so inspired by all of your valuable input and great suggestions to make this term a successful one! Some of the discussion items that came from the Board Advisee groups included if we should we invest in PR items, ideas on how to strengthen our webpage, Communications suggestions, should we pay ourselves first with our events, and should CF tickets go strictly online. For a complete list of the discussion outcomes, feel free to e-mail your director. Thank you for all of your participation! Special shout out to prospective Brooke Droege who came for the meeting and stayed for the fun that evening, dancing and gambling at MontBleu after pizza and cocktails at the cabin. August has been a whirlwind so far. Our ladies represented #1032 well at Leo's Birthday Bash and Sacramento #1's installation in true "Gangster" style. Then our new Board pedaled their hearts out with tutus and all aboard the Sac Brew Bike for the Point West Rotary's Lunar Lunacy Ride. VP Brenda Lusk made everyone race bibs and pretty neon tutus to get into the action and boy did we have fun! Shout out to Maryann Thubei and her friend who joined in on the fun and actually registered for and rode the 17-mile loop of the race! So what's next right?! We are all looking forward to our Back to School shopping spree coming up on September 6th at Kohl’s on Arden Way. Our goal is to sponsor 100 kids! Contact Lisa Sunseri, Linda Abdelbaki, or Ali Pearce for more information. Crab Feed committee sign-ups will be available now! Are you ready to jump on, get involved, and start pedaling?
